Is it possible to make a complete course just on the Qe2 Ruy Lopez? I am looking at taking it seriously, so looking for courses on that, the two knights attack on the French at a level that would be respected, and the side lines, but those two are most important. I was also wondering if you can do individual positional concepts listed in your GM positional understanding course. It has a list of ideas for positional concepts, but there isn't any book or more importantly any video courses on them expanding on the individual subjects. Thanks for any answer.
Sir, you're a great teacher. You dont just simply tell the moves. You also tell the reasons , logics and visions behind them. You're a great GM. Would love to see your rating goes up even more and you compete in big tournaments. Respect.

I appreciate your going over the main lines in Ruy Lopez, and in proving them with the computer's analysis. But, especially, the optimism! Makes chess fun even if I lose, in trying these cool new moves out. Don't worry about anyone commenting that these are not All Possible moves! How silly to expect that.
11:41 if black plays bishop h4 then how are you delivering a checkmate? Eventually you will still end up in a winning position cause you get a queen and a bishop for a rook after all the trades are done right? Is there something I can't see?
Thank you for your very good explanations with the many surprising moves that I would never have thought of on my own. This also shows how superior these clear videos are to any chess book for openings! Alois Meyer
I’m new to chess but at min 11:42 looks like move 13 you say it’s checkmate no matter what black player does. what if black moves bishop to h4. I can only get a draw to occur. Thx love your videos.
Yeah I guess you're right but then you take with rook and the black queen has to take back. Then white takes the queen and its no longer checkmate but you're up a queen
Hi Igor. Vey helpful video. Applied it when playing. Most of my opponents - after black retreats with knight to f6 and I play Sxe5 - play Be7. Can you show in a video how to beat this?
Hello Igor. I'm a relative beginner, only been playing online for a year or so, and my rating has been between 950-1050 most of the time. I was just making it up as I go along, trying to learn from my mistakes, and watching what others did. I happened to watch a few of your videos over the weekend, and I watched your free masterclass last night, which I found to be interesting and easy to grasp the main concepts, so I do recommend that video to anyone. I played a few games after watching the video, and was much more attacking in my play, a bit more creative too, I could feel my thought process was different, that I had a strategy of sorts. So, I thank you for the free masterclass, and I am sure that my rating will edge upwards now, but more importantly, I will be enjoying the games more, because (as you say) attacking is always great fun. One other thing, down at this rating level, people don't play that many standard moves, and especially they appear to defend with pawns a lot, which can frustrate my efforts. Best wishes to you, and thanks again. (Oh, please check my own website, with some handy tips for the next decade....2malachi dot com, especially the proclamation).
Thank you, I'll consider it! Meanwhile, you may check out my other videos about the Scandinavian: ruclips.net/user/GMIgorSmirnovsearch?query=scandinavian

hey wouldn't it be better to play rook e7 @6:00 having checkmate threats but even with good play from your opponents you'll just hunt the king out into the open than fianchetto your bishop and develop the rook to e1 and you got a killer attack before black can do anything. example: after king g8 - rook e7 - rook f7 - rook f7 - king f7 - queen h7 - king e6 - knight f4 - king e6 - queen d3 -king e7. In this position the knight is hanging, the king is vulnerable giving you enough time to develop the bishop and rook to active squares en make another killer attack.
Great video. I just wanna say that at 4:10 if you manage to get that far, you should really go above and beyond with the lines by keeping the rook on e7 and play d4. There’s a lot of juicy lines following it that are all engine approved.
What if at 11:42 bh4? And if Rook takes there is f6 and there won't be any mate. (I now I am late with this comment, because the video was posted a year ago)
why on berlin defense, black defend with bishop e2? what if black defended with e2, our rook cannot take the knight e5, and it seems to be more optimal, how do we deal with that?
If black can force the Ruy Lopez b6 bishop back w a7 and b7 pawn advances to b3 diagonal, can the game then be considered the Italian game, and then black can use, say, the Rousseau Gambit defense p-f5?
What if he doesn’t take the knight after 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 Nf6 4. O-O Nxe4 5.Re1 Nd6 6 Nxe5 but instead plays Be7? Do we take the knight on c6 with bishop or knight?
Why no coverage of the taking of the knight at c6 by bishop, thus leaving black with singke file pawns which is a long term disadvantage for black regardless of how different opinions exist with regard to the value of bishop vs knight?
I got a question for Igor. Is it possible to improve your game overall just by watching youtube videos, or you really need to buy courses because I am watching your videos on youtube for almost 1 year, but it looks like I am not getting any progress... I know you are a GM, and maybe I am just really bad at understanding chess, so I was wondering what could help me improve my game?
Hi Arnold, Thanks for the question. You need to practice to get better in chess just like any other sport. Just watching videos will not be enough. Igor provides an efficient training plan and different approaches to improve at chess in his courses. But you have to put in the practice to improve.
7:03 Instead of moving the king couldn't you just move the knight instead? Later on you might be able to castle? Naturally the white pawn is still an issue.
@@TheRomanianWolf Been a few weeks since I posted this so I can't remember my thought pattern and how I read the board. However you are correct - moving the knight doesn't solve the problem.

My opponents just never seem to play the right moves...
I know right?? Like literally no one follows this lines
It's not about the moves though. It's about the theory. You need to know the goal of each move and adapt it to each position
Play something more forcing then. Like e4 nc3 f4 as white. Or scandi with 2nf6 as black into icelandic gambit.
No one does, because it's not how it works.
Been looking for a good resource video on the Ruy, thanks
I learned so much from this channel. Thank you a lot. I really appreciate!

At 0:24 how do you continue if black moves knight to D4?
Trade knights castle good position . D pawn is pinned if they decide to activate knight you push pawn gaining space and play with it from there
Fantastic!

It could work... but it's hard to calculate.
You covered the Morphy Defense and the Berlin Defense, but I just as often encounter the Steinitz Defense or the Delayed Steinitz Defense.
really good as i always end up taking the knight when i play the ruy. i like doubling up pawns then attacking them later

@6:05 what about rook D7? You are threatening check mate(H7).
He can delay with rook or sacrifice queen.
Instead of taking rook with knight.
You mean rook e7.
i've rewatched this like 20 times since it was uploaded until it just sticks

5:05 He sacrifices.... THE QUEEN!!!!!!
@4.31
Can anyone please explain....
How can he castle when bishop is there.
5:22 - Why not …h6 after Qh5?
Maybe because d3 and Bxh6 follows?
It's good to learn ideas, attacking plans
Excellent
11:55 why not bishop h4 then rook takes and queen takes bake and now they have 2 rook and we have 1 Queen and one rook
why on berlin defense, black defend with bishop e2? what if black defended with e2, our rook cannot take the knight e5, and it seems to be more optimal, how do we deal with that?

5:00 what if he plays h6 to stop the queen
At 4:07 why wouldn't you go queen to e1, because they'd block with their bishop eventually freeing their king?
thank u grandmaster igor my eyes can believe what i am seeing. chess is not for the timid that for show.
The anastasia check mate is brilliant😈😈👏
4:18 why not Qf3 instead of Re1
At 3:57 why black didn't make castle??
Can’t castle when checked
Very upstandind moves
How about the drawing line or the ruy with bc5 instead of be7 ( I think it’s called the moller)( I think I saw a knight checkmate with it once)
Nice video 👍
Amazing share
What if he doesn’t take the knight after 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 Nf6 4. O-O Nxe4 5.Re1 Nd6 6 Nxe5 but instead plays Be7?
Do we take the knight on c6 with bishop or knight?

Nice 👍
Interesting 👍
I like this debut
Honestly, they way you explained got me from 500 to 800 in 2 weeks. I mean, I improvise if I see a blunder. Thank you! Any good videos for black?
What to do when they develop the king side knight on their first move attacking your center pawn before you can get into a castled position?
I won't remember a thing but damn I had so much fun watching this
Why no coverage of the taking of the knight at c6 by bishop, thus leaving black with singke file pawns which is a long term disadvantage for black regardless of how different opinions exist with regard to the value of bishop vs knight?

what if black move pawn a6 at the very beginning ?
What's the name of that app
