Recorded live in White Sands National Park, New Mexico.
In case you missed our last video, our van broke down for 10 days in Roswell, New Mexico, and we wrote a song about the famous 1947 UFO incident while we were stuck there (watch here: • Roswell - Reina del Ci... ). But we did finally get ol' Van Morrison fixed up, so we stopped by White Sands National Park before leaving New Mexico to shoot this cover of Paul Simon's classic, "Slip Sliding Away." It's an eerie and beautiful place, and if you haven't been, you should put it on your must-see list. Though I wouldn't recommend hiking the sandy dunes with guitars and recording equipment -- there was much slip sliding away during the loading in and out. :)

Hello girls.I have been housebound for the last 3 years, and I was telling my wife that if you were coming within 100 miles we were going to see you play live. Well as it turns out you will be playing in Montreal in August so as it turns out we will have to drive 30-35 miles. We are both huge fans when I came upon a video of you doing Neil Young's Harvest Moon, well that's where my journey began (and Sylvies started a few weeks later), and I'm happy that this journey still has a ways to go. I love the way you and Toni work with each other. And I love it when you scrounge your face during some of your songs...lol Anxious to see you and the group and hope I will get a chance to buy merch and have a quick photo so that I can put you on my wall of fame, and next time around I'll get you to sign it. Funny as I write I notice it's the 2nd of July, so one month to go, baby!

Yes! When covering some songs, it is the technical aspects that are the challenge. With this tune it is the feel. The subtle stoicism of the lyrics and the contrasting warmth of the melody, require a delivery of quiet desperation.
Hear too. Such a great duo. And Toni on the guitar makes it for me.
Not meaning to rattle feathers, but given Toni is in all the vids and a huge part of why I watch, please include her in the cover photo.

Paul Simon is one of the greatest songwriters of our time. I didn't think this one was one of his best till I heard the two of you play it. Or should I say three? Toni's fingers and guitar are independent souls unto themselves. Never hurrying. Never loud. But always creating magic.

This was the first song that really captured my daughter. She was about 3 when it came on and she stopped what she was doing and just stared at the speaker. When the song ended she asked “what was that? Play it again!”. We listened to that song a million times that year 😂

Okay, I’m going to say it…that was perfect. Simple, subtle guitar work and harmonies. Just perfect. Right down to the cerulean blue of your shirts and the rust tones of the rug as the only outside colours that could possibly enhance that amazing landscape.
