  • Jafar's Secret (& Heartbreaking) Connection To The Sultan They Never Explained In The Movie | Aladdin
    Jafar was shown to be obsessed with becoming the Sultan of Agrabah and it’s never been clearer why. Even though he might seem like yet another power-hungry villain that wanted to become a tyrant who ruled his people with a magical iron thumb, there was actually a lot more to his character that was revealed by Disney and Freeform’s Once Upon A Time. And it even seems like his lust for power may have stemmed from some seriously dark “daddy issues.”

    Honestly, don't take anything from once upon a time as cannon. Don't forget the frozen sister appeared in that show and where it gave a good story about their parents, frozen 2 showed up and completely disproved it. It was a very good show but not cannon in connection to their cartoon counterparts. I swear disney is starting to build their own mulit verse

    I would love to know the back story of why Princess Fiona from Shrek was cursed. Was she a part of a neighbor dispute between her parents and a witch and the witch punished her knowing that it would devastate her parents? Or was she a product of her father and a witch as an affair and when Fiona's father broke off the affair from the witch, was she so heartbroken and so angry that out of revenge, she might have cursed Fiona?

      I mean I could be wrong but the king was a frog befor as some hints were in the second movie. So in order to become a human since he fell in love, the good fairy made him the offer that he will be if his daughter was cursed so the son (prince charming) of the good fairy can marry Fiona
      Basically a "happy end" for everyone at least that's what she imagined.

      Beauty or happy ever after.
      She chose the beauty potion/spell.
      As she was told, there was a catch. Come sun rise, she would be human. By night, she would be an ogre.

    Didn't Disney themselves reveal that Once Upon A Time has nothing to do with their movies and that any character's backstory is considered head canon by the creators of Once Upon A Time? Seriously, Disney themselves said that the entire series of Once Upon A Time and the spin offs are NOT canon to the Disney universe.

    • @smiller2044
      @smiller2044 Год назад +2

      @Nerina Blais hard for that to be true when 1) OUaT was shown on ABC, a Disney owned or affiliated channel,
      2) OUaT characters promoted Disney during its popular season/series by being in commercials for the park, and
      3) The show used Disney specific characters or themes both new & old such as _Fantasia_ & _Frozen_
      The show had potential, but the writers of _Lost_ aren't as skilled show writers as they should be, imho. Their first mistake was *SPOILER*
      Breaking the curse in the first season, then doing so each season thereafter. Season 7 was *too dark* and _Alice_ spinoff seemed not to really fit, but was alright as stand alone. Again, Alice was a childhood friend of Henry's who the writers allowed to fall in or become a plot hole.

      @nerinablais6623 Год назад +2

      @@smiller2044 Elsa and Anna's mother in both Frozen movies is known as Queen Iduna though. Just because ABC is a Disney owned or affiliated channel doesn't mean that the Once Upon a Time series and the spin offs are canon to the Disney universe. Admittedly, the shows could be taking place in an alternate universe, but the fact is that Bell in Disney's Beauty and the Beast wasn't born a princess and only became a princess after marrying the beast once she learned that he's actually a prince who was under a curse. In every variation of the story of Rumplestiltskin, he doesn't have a family of his own and he doesn't have any kids. Peter Pan also has no actual relation to Rumplestiltskin in any version of Peter Pan, even Disney's version.

    While yes, the comments that claim Once Upon a Time isn't canonical to the Disneyverse are 100% correct, the Live Action remake of Aladdin by Disney does actually does give Jafar a tease of a deeper backstory, though we only learn a tiny detail. In the live action remake, Jafar is confirmed to have grown up as a "street rat" like Aladin, and while at first the audience is left wondering whether his claim that he was a street rat as a kid was true or just a lie to get Aladdin on his side, its later confirmed to be true when we see him back up that claim by masterfully stealing the lamp from Aladdin on the streets of Agraba in very a simmilar manner to how Aladin steals, implying that yes, he was actually a street rat who had to steal to survive as a kid like Aladdin was.
    We don't learn how he rose from street rat to royal vizer though, so thats a blank you can fill in how you like, and we also get nothing about being an illegitimate son of a sultan. But as-of the live action remake Jafar is confirmed to have come from a simmilar situation to Aladdin and somehow have worked his way up from poverty to being the second most powerful man in the kingdom. My personal guess to how he managed that was that through learning the art of sorcery/dark magic he was able to quickly advance himself through society via mind control/magical manipulation of others.

    The character of Jafar is a combination of two characters from the original Aladdin story. These are the Grand Vizier and the African Magician. The Vizier is not evil, he just wants his son to marry the princess. The magician however is, and is much like Jafar although he's more interested in the lamp than in trying to take over the kingdom.
    This backstory makes little sense as Jafar is definitely interested in marrying Jasmine. If true, this would make her his niece. Also he speaks as if there is no familial relation, which makes sense since this series was written many years after the movie. This is a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad theory.
