What do you think about letting the “mud rails” dry and then fill in the slope next day? For a beginner. Next day, wet the mud rails and apply thinset then fill in and slope. I’m sure it would be a little messy on the edges but if it’s covered with sheet membrane it could work. I might give it a try
Sorry just saw this. I do a lot of my big floors that way. Mud rails one day. Fill in next day. I use loose thinset and a cheap paintbrush to brush the dry rails with thinset. Works great. Kinda messy but effective.
I don't do mud walls but I do pack all of my pans. Still doing it the traditional way with a pre slope, vinyl liner, post slope, and plastic 10 in. weep hole protection....... I have plenty of levels of various sizes but I actually find it easier to get yourself a Real straight piece of wood (1×4) and I cut it exact. And do the same thing you do with like 6 different pieces and sometimes you can use them on the next job and sometimes you can't....awesome video
I saw a guy applying very wet “cement” on the shower floor. He sealed the drain with a bucket and a sponge). He did it always at the end of the day as a “cake’s cherry.” So next morning first thing he would do was to scrape with a slope the floor to the drain. He said he never had a clogged drain. It has to be well sealed otherwise it will be a disaster . He said it is the fastest and easiest way to doing it.
Hmm. I can’t imagine it being very fast if he has to do part of it at night and part of it in the morning. A dry pack pan takes about an hour to do in one pop. But if it works for him that’s great. Sounds like a messy disaster to me.
@@Tarkustile lol he considered fast because he just threw a bucket of mud and called it a day . Then next morning would scrape it in 5 minutes . But yeah , very risky lol

Hey man, This is such a cool project. I love seeing people who really love their work and love to do a great job!
Thanks!
Cool selection of tiles. Can't wait to see the process
Love those arches. Awesome idea and excellent execution! Thank you for making this video. I appreciate the great info!
I had nothing to do with the arches. We are just here doing tile. But I love them too
@Tarkustile no worries, I learned a great deal that will help me finish my tiled shower, it's nice to find real videos with solid information. Cheers!
