    I figured out why the blue item was showing! Hiding all items along with all idols in 1 rule was messing it up. I separated them and it worked perfectly : )

      You can just have the rule be "hide" without selecting anything else, and it will hide all items.

      LE launched at worst time for me, so busy with work but I finally sat down yesterday and grinded to 88 and at endgame now. Now I am running into issue of crafting exalt to pump my LP leggos and every single time the removal bricks my exalted rare. Was hoping you would give more details on what is the endgame instead of crafting, cause even with my "meh" average gear, I am already fully clearing empowered Monos and upto Tier 3 dungeons. I will try Tier 4 dungeons soon. I am just not sure what the endgame content is at the moment. Is it just making LP perfect gear?

    One of the greatest things about LE is that I created a similar loot filter for endgame. Only proves that this game is the ideal middle ground between D4 and PoE! Your loot filter is just better so I refined mine. Keep up the good videos, appreciated!

    One thing to note if you're going to shatter:
    There's always a chance you don't get the rare affix on an item. Runes of removal, when they remove an affix, give you shards equal to the tier of affix removed. Very useful to maximize the extraction of the affixes you want.

    One thing i never see people talk about is using experimental. If you have a bad prefix you can slam it off in one go, and then you can hsve a guaranteed seal to get it out of the way.
    And actually they are completely deterministic, so you might actually just want it on there in general.
    Only helps on a few item types, but it changes a dice roll not in your favor to a near guaranteed success

    • @DZ14783

      How do you slam the bad prefix off in one go if there are suffixes on it?

    • @Syllaren
      @Syllaren 9 месяцев назад +3

      @DZ14783 the glyph of insight will replace the prefix. Then you can use a glyph of research to seal it and open up the prefix slot. No risk at all of failing removing or anything else.

    FWIW, it may be easier to do some very basic XML editing (loot filters) and combine some under from different loot filters to combine them.
    So you can use the GUI to quickly remove the early ones from a class you want to play and merge them into your main loot filter.
    75 rules max still applies, seems like reversed order so first in file is last in game filter list.

Now I understand how to make my own loot filter. Thank you, Raxx! I'd love it if you could make a video about the various classes and masteries and explain what the playstyle of each feels like. This video is incredibly helpful. One of the big flaws I've found when using the premade loot filters off maxroll is that they are too strict and designed for endgame players who already have a base. e.g. Using the Runemaster Frostclaw Cold build, I got barely any upgrades levelling from 60-80 because it wasn't looking for those mid-tier items. It's only looking for BIS best of the best items. Need to customise these/make your own one when levelling up or you'll miss out on a lot of upgrades.

    Generally really starting to understand why Blizz wants to avoid loot filters. It grows into a whole thing, and seeing someone even like Raxx not having it set right and not even knowing it, it's all just too much for the average player. Better game design / itemization is needed. Loot Filter is lava.

    One thing to add:
    With rarer/class specific affixes, I ALWAYS have a dead rule at the top that shows T1 affixs of one’s I specifically need for chaosing. The T3/T4 rule is good for getting a base amount without over shattering, but if you are out of X affix and need it to chaos, adding it to the T1 rule so you can find the affix and then use it to chaos roll is super nice plus then you just go remove the affix and keep going with the T3 rule, instead of having to wait around for a T3 to drop for a reroll.

    • @Kirac322

      It doesn't. It's a misconception of probability. Rune of removal is truly random and not linked to tier levels.

    • @Syllaren
      @Syllaren 9 месяцев назад

      In the case of a prefix you can actually more reliably remove it with an experimental prefix. Instead of worrying about chaos or despair dice rolls, you can just overwrite it, use a research rune to seal the experimental affix, and then have an open slot for whatever you want.

    • @TurtlePipeline
      @TurtlePipeline 9 месяцев назад

      @@Syllarendoesn’t that leave you with 5 total affixes, though?

    • @Syllaren
      @Syllaren 9 месяцев назад +1

      @TurtleArms yeah but the 5th is sealed, and legendaries won't pull from the sealed affix. This is mainly useful specifically for getting a near perfect exalt with a bad prefix to be a basically perfect one for a legendary merge. Although it's also useful if you actually want the exalt prefix, which can actually be quite powerful in certain legendaries.
      The main thing is its a guaranteed 2 shot to get a level 4 or w.e. affix out of the way. When otherwise you would need to chaos or despair and pray, and probably right after removal and pray, with a glyph of insight you have a predetermined affix you can have, and it's a guaranteed 1 shot seal with a research rune(that can be glyph of hoped even) to get it out of the way entirely so you can pick any prefix.

I got res at over 100% on all and do tons of damage but 1 mistake and I get 1 shot by basic mobs. I finally found that you need crit avoidance. I went back to 90 none-empowered monos. After playing for another 10 hours, monos, dungeons for prophecies, etc... I didn't get a single crit avoidance item of any rarety. Out of several dozen uniques 2 or 3 of them were slightly relevant for my class and stats, the rest is throwaway.

  • @tundranocaps
    @tundranocaps 8 месяцев назад

    The plural of "Staff" is "Staves."
    And yeah, I manually go over my exalt drops and make sure they have multiple affixes that are good or make sense together. I make sure at least two affixes make sense together on a 4-affix piece, 1 is enough for one with 3.
    BTW, piece of advice - don't make generic exalted tabs, make a tab for each base, and have (uniques/)exalted of that type there. That can show you, "Oh, I'm really lacking exalted daggers/helmets, maybe I should lower my requirements for these." And it has stuff next to one another if you also put the uniques of that type there, for easier comparison.

    This video shows me how much of a noob I really am at these ARPGs. I mean the idea of even using my stash I didnt understand fully. Even now all I have is uniques I cant use in there.
    I just shatter everything I can and sell the rest. My loot filter I set up just highlights anything with minion affixes on them and I pick up those items. Its been a long time since D2 I need to catch up and learn how to play these games! Uniques you aren't using can still be useful if you plan on making other characters this cycle. I wouldn't shatter everything, just stuff for rarer affixes, cause nobody has the gold to shatter everything and you'll get enough of the common ones naturally (except early game).

  • @CrystalStearOfTheCas
    @CrystalStearOfTheCas 9 месяцев назад

    You need to add a second set of hide filters at the top to further refine what you've shown. It would go something like this based on your filter hide all > show cool affixes > hide useless slot / class items > show all uniques.
    After your second set of hides you can put another layer for a second class for instance (but they must not share wanted affixes obviously).
    For example I have a few tiers of wanted loot for my very engame build (blues are exalted with 2 wanted affixes, yellow 3 affixes, orange are exalted with a t7 wanted affix from a shorter list and red 2 t6+ great affxes) I then hide all the bases/slot/class then recolor in green all I want for my next build.
    This ensures my tiered loot is exclusive without hiding any of the wanted stuff for the next build. That's also where you would put your shattering candidates (again, don't search for stuff that could already be show lower or it will get recolored).
    This is a very very heavily custom filter down to what bases and affix combinations can roll on specific slots and required care when updating it but it will both show you only want you want to see and everything that you want to see. I usually need a bit more than a full mono to clear out my inventory, depending on if I'm using prophecies for certain uniques

  • @Chris-zg7ty
    @Chris-zg7ty 8 месяцев назад

    I think one tip you could have added to this to make it a bit better would be to start with a generic skeleton of this loot filter and save it as a template. That way every time you need a new filter you start with 70% of it done and just need to select "duplicate" on the template, rename it to a descriptive name and add in the class/build specific details to it. I suppose if you wanted to go crazy you could also save a sub class template which might cut down on the duplicative work even more.

  • @helleye311
    @helleye311 9 месяцев назад +13

    The only gripes I have with the loot filter is that I would really like to filter all the items by base, and just have a pool of generically good affixes for a build. I don't know which affixes go on a weapon or boots or amulet. And I'm not about to spend an hour in a build planner to make a build just so I can import a filter.
    But the issue is, you can't select subbases for multiple types. So my perfect filter kinda needs 50 rules for basic items (any base exalt for slamming which I guess can just be one rule for everything, decent rare item with 2 right modifiers, can later be disabled, godly rare item, exalted with good base) for each slot. Sometimes twice if I don't care if it's a sword or axe. It's a pain to set up.
    Also wish there were some better "artificial" groups for affixes. Like let's say I'm doing warlock, I want necrotic damage, there should be a group for "necrotic" that includes damage, damned chance, penetration etc.
    I'm seriously considering making a tool for it but the filter syntax is quite ugly, and I don't think there's a publicly available list of affixes/items with their internal IDs I could get.
    I really hope they add the ability to pick subtypes for multiple item types at some point. Even with duplicating rules there's still a lot of clicking to get what I want.

      Honestly another fix for this would be to just let us make a "list" instead of a rule.
      That was you can make a rule for each base, then just attach your global "i want all these affixes" list to it.
      That way, if you ever edit your list, all the rules with that list attached get updated to include or exclude whatever you changed.

      That's not true. When you make a rule for "affix", the rule only applies to the 1-4 affixes an item can have, never the implicit. If you want a rule to show an item with 3 specific affixes, you have to change the 1 to a 3 where it says "Where at least x of these affixes on the same item". Rax explained the helmet issue in the first comment.

      @@stebobibo I've seen his comment but my argument remains. I have tested this extensively when I had an issue with it. If you select your affixes to be 'fire res %' , '+str', '+HP' as well as advanced setting to only show >= 3 afixes. By dropping a pair of boots with 'fire res %' implicit and only 2 out of 3 affixes being '+str' and '+HP' the item will show in the filter.

      @@CostelloDamianOk, good to know. I'll keep an eye out for this in game. You should report this bug on the forums if u haven't already.

    Great video! I've been getting frustrated with my 80 bleed warlock using the maxroll guide and not finding gear I need. He is getting wrecked in empowered and I can't find any of the right gear. Now I have a plan to re-do the filter as my own filter, so I can find what I'm looking for to fix and then progress my build.

    can't wait for the video on experimental items. Don't see a huge point to rune of research and glyph of insight (also a bit fused on how to get these got 1). Be nice to know what is good from them and when to use them.
    I figured haste and frenzy effect could maybe be good, armor applied to damage over time would be pretty great for most builds, ward per missing health I know is used for low life builds, and maybe ward on kill could maybe be ok for strong clear speed builds. Only time I could see the glyph being good is maybe when you are looking for one of those mods and find a really good base you could use it as a better rune of removal then could seal it to maybe min max forging protentional for a bit better chance at getting a 5 mod exalted.

    Love the explanation of the filter and importance of stash. I have a few stash tabs now, going on like 11 or 12, starting to get expensive, and was starting to question whether or not I should actually be saving as much stuff as I am. Should probably start sorting through and filtering idols more though given I have 3 pages of those alone.

    Btw when you edit your loot filter live you have to force your game to reapply it. Just select another loot filter (no filter by default) then your freshly updated custom filter.
