I love the video As a kid I always saw this scene(like a million times because I didn’t have a memory card when I first got my Dreamcast so I spent the first month starting from the beginning of the game every day till a memory card came in the mail) and thought “man I wanna be where Sonics at” Now, especially since it’s matched with this music, sonic looks like he’s living just such a relaxing life in this moment I don’t mind still-image Lofi videos, but this video is just great(I’m also severely biased to this scene and this game so that may be part of it too lol) Usually I listen to these when my hands are busy/when my eyes are being taken up by other things. Even still, I couldn’t help but keep looking back at the screen to watch sonic gently moving his head and getting the nap of a life time
Just seeing this takes me back to watching my chaos walk on the Dreamcast memory card screen I always wondered why other consoles didn’t take on a similar idea with their memory cards(or maybe they did and I simply didn’t know about it) I thought it was really cool though My dad had bought the memory card and didn’t know what it was capable of. He just saw it as like a SD card or something... and so did I(till I saw buttons on it) When I was playing SA2 one day and found out I could put my chaos in there my mind was BLOWN! I always figured the chao machine thing had something to do with the internet and online shopping so I tried to avoid it so I didn’t run the risk of accidentally making online purchases that my parents would have to pay for when we were already struggling financially I guess the concept of an external device also serving as a thing to play on-the-go with still exists today in some ways There are some games that will give you a code or something where you can take your character on-the-go with your phone, or those figurines that you can buy in the store that will add the character the toy looks like, into the game when you bring it home and attach it to your console or something I have no experience with those things, but the Dreamcast memory card was such a cool thing to experience as a kid. No other kid in my neighborhood or at school that I talked to even knew such a thing existed. Most didn’t even believe me when I told them As a kid, it was like if I told other kids that my dad drove a car that could fly It was an amazing time to be alive I tell ya
