The churches read the mansucripts literally making them lose 100% of the understanding. They have no idea that it's all parables not how to interpret the parables. Their own NT tell them that Jesus spoke in nothing but parables [Mark 4:34 He did not tell them anything without using a parable.], yet they teach the writings as if they are literal. Thus the confusion, in-fighting and anger as well as chaos and zillions of sects.

The first thing that needs to be established is doctrinal availability. It's a sexy idea that a powerful fragment of biblical knowledge is being hoarded by a shadowy council. Yet if we examine scripture, it is evident that unbelief is the culprit, not ignorance. Jesus did not physically hide his teachings in terms of location or audience.
John 18:19-21
19The high priest then asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine.
Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing. Why askest thou me? ask them which heard me, what I have said unto them: behold, they know what I said.

Luke 11:33
No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light.
So it is clear that Jesus was in no wise a brewer or participant of skullduggery. After healing possessed and infirmed folk, Christ often tells recipients of his mercy to report back to their city about the things they have experienced. There was nothing up his sleeve so to speak. Now one may bring up the case of cryptic parables. This was done simply to separate the wheat from the tares. There isn't one saying from Jesus that could not be deciphered with a spirit of faith and patience. The quick-fix crowd would simply eliminate themselves. The materialistic would self-deport and no longer walk with the Messiah. Exponents are not trying to filter out those that do not have abstract minds, but it does exactly that in algebra. With the right approach, anyone can understand the Lord. Here is an example of knowledge that is plain, but becomes hidden because of the wrong heart condition.
John 9: 15-34
Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see. Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them. They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet. But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight. And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see? His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind: But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself. These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue. Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner. He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see. Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine eyes? He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples? Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples. We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is. The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes. Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth. Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind. If this man were not of God, he could do nothing. They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
Over and over again, the Pharisees question the blind man on how his eyes were opened. He gave them the most literal straight forward answer possible. Keep in mind, Pharisees were men of letters. Though highly educated, they could not understand a one sentence answer from a blind man. This is not secrecy. This is prejudice is the strictest sense of the world. The Pharisees judged a matter prematurely, and in doing so could not arrive at the most reasonable explanation. Their preconceived notions hid knowledge away from their own eyes. It was not the work of outside deception or cleverness. This is happening to Christians today. They are hunting for some conspiracy that is depriving them of the deepest biblical understanding. THEY ARE OUTWITTING THEMSELVES. The trick is being performed by them and not another.
The Church did not ban the gnostic gospels. They did not include them in the bible because they were not consistent with the themes, eye witnesses, and timelines of Christianity's origin. No one was jailed or executed for reading the Gospel of Thomas. Literary scholarship flunked the document's authenticity. We have to speak like men of full understanding. Saying the bible banned the gnostic gospels is like asking why does a vegan restaurant ban meat. It doesn't. It simply serves food that does not violate a principle of harm. Food sources that are not consistent with that principle can be found elsewhere. A vegan eatery is not going to war with KFC or McDonalds. It is existing on it's own terms. Only meat eaters would use the word ban, because their principle is not being honored. The bible has a consistent throughline that the gnostic gospels are antithetical toward. They are free to express their ideas, but they are not free to rewrite the ideas of another. No intellectual or spiritual endeavor must suffer it's rival on their front porch. The NAACP do not have to host Klansmen. The National Women's Organization don't have to host a consortium of pimps, and the NRA are not duty bound to host pacifists. Every organization is free to stand on it's own understanding of the world without the imposition of a competing view. Now, it is nearly impossible to expect that opposites won't clash over public relevance and policy, yet each is entitled to their view without the modern ignominy of distinction. Definition require parameters. No man need to turn to a grand cover-up to understand intellectual property. How can the Almighty be the only God, yet be proceeded by stronger and more ancient gods above him at the same time? How can he be omniscient, yet be ignorant to a celestial order of whom he was made? Either you have faith in Archons or faith in the I AM. Either Jesus was betrayed by Judas, or planned out his capture with Judas as the Gospel of Judas affirms. Faith and endurance are the twin flames that will purify all spiritual claims about God.
I have no problem discussing or hearing views that are outside of my own. I do it all the time. However, one can not hold contrary ideas at the same time. He must believe in the Gnostic tradition or the Biblical one. That is not religious extremism, that is basic logic. Either it is raining outside, or it is not raining outside (in the same location and time). That slight of hand is the major source of my offense; transforming a logical fallacy into religious tolerance. ALL RELIGIONS ARE THE SAME! Okay, all political views are the same. All fields of academic study are the same. All food is the same. All weapons are the same. All music is the same. All housing is the same. If you step back further enough all things are the same. This is the blind fold that keeps Christians in doubt. They believe all knowledge to be an impressionist painting that only needs the proper distance to behold. The Hindu elephant analogy. They abandon concepts of true and false. They scoff at good and evil. It's all about back up enough. This is why they ask the same questions over and over again. They have prejudged, and in doing so put out their own eyes.
