A side-by-side, shot-for-shot comparison between the the three film adaptations of Dracula by Bram Stoker, Nosferatu: Smphony of Terror (1922), Nosferatu the Vampyr (1979), and Nosferatu (2024). This video is intended to show the different choices made by three groups of filmmakers adapting the novel Dracula and the homages made by those remaking the 1922 film.
I like how different the version of how Thomas meeting Orlok. 1922 Orlok looks very curious and skeptical to see that the visitor has come, as he never had someone to came visiting him before. 1979 version shows he seem look nervous but still greet him in gentlemen manner. 2024 version we see how intimidating he is and very upset he was, how long he waited for him to come. Long distance and full shadows cover his body.
The 2024 version is exactly how I'd imagined the meeting reading _Dracula._
No suprise, as 2024 Orlok harking back to book Dracula (also 22 Orlok) whose completely evil with no sympathetic or reedeming traits.

@ article?
@iamlouis1495 Gamesradar. if you don't like clicking on links from RUclips, the article title is "Someone has edited all three Nosferatu versions together shot-for-shot, and horror fans are fascinated by one particular parallel"
Herzog's 1978 Nosferatu the Vampyre is a masterpiece and this completion really showcases how incredible Herzog is at framing and composition. However, I will say that those who thought Eggers' version of Nosferatu was too slow and "artsy" would probably not be able to sit through Herzog's version at all.
those people dont even cinema
Yeah, I'm just watching this comparison and damn, 1978 version is so beautifully framed, especially compared to the new one
And also that all the dialogue scenes were filmed twice in Herzogs version, in German and English so there wouldn't have to be any dubbing
@fanatykpizzy I thought the exact opposite tbh
I want to ask if Eggers' version adds anything different enough so that it's worth watching for someone who already watched and liked Herzog's film or if it's kind of unnecesary
I thought it was interesting how the current Nosferatu drank straight from the heart.
In an interview Eggers explains this choice was made because in the folklore people actualy believed they were bitten in the chest, because (some of) the origins of the myth is people experiencing sleep paralysis, which often includes feeling pressure to the chest.
Eeeek😮
Interesting
Eating from the neck is more seductive. Eating directly from the heart is monsterous. I love this adaptation.
@lm7_gio other depiction to explain sleep paralysis is a tiny demon sitting on the chest
All three versions are masterpieces in their own rights.
Great use of music!
Indeed! After (re)watching them back to back now, there’s parts of each film that I find best or unique from the other two. They’re all different enough in vision and style to be worth watching separately as well. What a story to have 3 great distinct films about.
💯 agree ♥️
Agreed!
No. 2024 is garbage. Try again.
A rare case in which all movies are great.
Very well done! The 2024 version really reaches back to the OG Nosferatu, to the roots. The newest film has some immaculate cinematography and a foreboding mood. All of them look good.
I personally thought it had a lot of similarities to the 1979 version (in various scenes and shots), which is ironic because supposedly Robert Eggers didn't watch that version to not be influenced by it.
@@Spectrometer Either hes lying or its trickle down effect from other Dracula adaptations he indirectly took insipration from.
More likely he took inspiration from Dracula films, especially Coppolas - which was inspired by both Nosferatu movies.
Overall Eggers Nosferatu feels like a hommage to every classical vampire film ever made^^
Not just that, it's a boring, soulless imitation

The Death of Count Orlok
1922: Turns into dust
1979: Paralyzed and finished off with a stake and hammer
2024: Shrivels into a dried up corpse
That is genius putting them together like that so fascinating
All of these movies feels so dark, cold, and scary
My 4-year-old daughter thought he looked sad.
That's the idea to give a dark dreary feel to the movie

@@Dr.Tinkerpaw Your 4 year old is on the ball, especially if it's Kinski in Herzog's 1979 version.
Also - what the Hell you doing, Doc?! You _trying_ to give her a ifetime of nightmares?!
Isabelle Adjani is just wonderful
Indeed
thats what i'm sayin
She's also amazing in Possession
I really like the transition from normality into horror in 1979.
I think it made for some really artistic shots in the original though to set the ambiance.
I think the 2024 version compliments the 1922 version very well..both are very atmospheric.but the 1922 version is so iconic and certain scenes.. but you cant go wrong with either to be honest...
Amazing! I saw the 1922 version at a theater with a live band. 2024 has some perfectly done dark scenes and I was totally impressed. One of my fav is the three men taking the boat to Orlok and the snow falling.
This is absolutely immaculate!
Immaculate showing them side to side like this sir.🎉💯👑
From what it looks like it’s the perfect remake, not exactly the same but not too different
So you didn’t see it then. It’s awful
Disagree, its near perfect. Like a hommage to most good vampire movie ever made packed in a worthy remake with some of the most stunning shots i've ever seen and incredible costume /set work.
@ LOL.
The vampire HAS NEVER been sexual. You people are beyond dimwitted.
@@RestrictedFilms Why do you think that was the topic? I definitely not mentioned it nor mean it 🤷🏻♀️ Not an english native, tell me if i jused the wrong word or something.
But now that this went in this direction - the sex scene between her and the fiancè was more than unnecessary and one if the few things i would have cut from the film.
This is awesome! Thanks for the hard work, it's all beautiful.
I wish there was a wow reaction! Very well done! 🎉🎉
Thank you for this work. ❤ So interesting!
wow, thanks so much for doing this!! wonderful work. :)
I would all three Nosferatu films are the best I seen Robert Eggers Nosferatu at the cinema and it was amazing I think Murnau Verison Wener Herzog and Robert Eggers version of Nosferatu are incredible also Max Schreck Klaus Kinski and Bill Skarsgard who played Nosferatu are three best actors and that’s why all three films are so good
Its wonderful! Thank you very much for this comparation betwen the three versions ❤
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 well done. Great way to compare the movies. Really opens your eyes
Absolutely amazing 👏🏽
This is so beautiful. Two of these videos are over 100 years apart. 🕸🩶🖤🦇🖤🩶🕸
Great edit!!🎉
Wow! This is excellent work. Love it ❤
It's insane how closely Herzog matched Murnau shot-for-shot. That's not to say I don't appreciate Eggers' take. The same spirit is there, and Orlok is more than just a monster; he's a singular presence. The shots of his hand extending over Wisborg is such a beautiful nod to German Expressionism.
Reddit brought me here. I love Isabelle Adjani. I have to watch the 1979 version now.
Whoa!!! That's awesome! Thanks for sharing 😮😮
Friend, where is my 2 hour long analysis video comparing the meaning of each and differentiating them
1922 one is an expressionist marvel.
1979 is GORGEOUS and deep. It looks so beautiful it could be a sequence of chiaroscuro paintings, but so natural and believable it could be a documentary.
2024 is a good horror film!
There is no internet in Bolivia
Nothing like the original 😍
Amazing work!
I love the three versions but the original from 1922 will always be my favourite.
The reactions from the blood after he cuts his finger
Exactly what I wanted. Thanks.
Overall, the cinematography of the new Eggers version is the best, but Kinski was absolutely perfect as Orlock in the Herzog version.
OG Nosferatu for sure
Thank you. What a great watch !
This is wonderful. Thank you
Christmas eve, in preparation for Nosferatu, I watched both the 1922 & 1979 versions. This meld is wonderful. Of the 3, I prefer Herzog's.
I like in the new version they gave Orlock more masculinity with a tough guy approach. While in the previous two made Orlock a cowardly rat.
Thank you
Dude, compare 1922 and 2024, these three together messed with my mind.
Great super cut
Really good!
Herzog is the best one.
Poorly the most iconic scene ( 1:46 ) was 0% creepy und very disappointing for me
Didn't even know that it was this scene while i was watching the movie
But all in all i think it's a very nicely done horror movie for nowadays standard
i agree. i was waiting for that scene either,,and never realized the resemblance
Great Job on the edits...All 3 look great...The 2024 version really spooks me ..yes artsy in a way... sometimes you don't have to jump right into the action I enjoy a good story line leading up to it also like another has said here... the 24 version he drinks from the chest/heart ...but all 3 great nonetheless 👍 👏 👌 😊
Herzog version is the best
fucking awesome
There is an indie 2023 version, you can add that .
Great editing
Awesome!
Wauw!! Nice edit
Brilliant 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾 ❤
Beautiful job!
Beautiful musical choice. Surprisingly Twilight suits it
thanks for this
1979 ❤
2024 version is the best one it’s exceptional especially for a modern film it was amazing
i love 1979 and 2024 😅... but 1922 is the BEST 😁
I'll watch all 3 eventually!
Wow well done!
All I can say is that the actor who plays Thomas in the original 1922 version is freaking beautiful 😍
79 version takes it for me
Bram Stoker`s Dracula is the best Nosferatu
Nicely done! I would have also liked to see the 2024 Doug Jones version - maybe a future vid?
lol ew wtf

Needs to be watched at 0.25 speed. Great stuff!
Can You Do Disney’s The Haunted Mansion With 2003 Version And 2023 Version
More Silent Films honestly deserve some respectful remakes and releases alongside their remakes; many of them are quite impressive at times, and use techniques specific to their era.
At 01:25 simply awesomeness!
Very cool.
I watched the 1922 and 2024 versions back-to-back. I love how Eggers dived deeper into a dark aesthetic and expended the plot while respecting the original film. Not perfect but beautifully executed.
I know it is kind of a stretch, you could have even weaved in a little bit of Francis Ford Coppola version. I think Coppola's version was more of an homage to the story and to the previous versions of Dracula and Nosferatu. There is also homage to FW Murnau by using special effects that were used in other Murnau films such as Faust.
I liked new one really had 1922 vibes also those moustache was cool
Love Herzog but at times his version felt like a tv movie, I did like how vulnerable his count Dracula was though, imagine Kinski edited into Eggers' borderline masterpiece.
There was one in 1979, did not know that
And there was a 2000s movie Shadows of the Vampire starring Willem Dafoe.
I really recommend the 1979 version, it's a beautiful movie.
@@Quigon-93 Doesn't count as its meta fictionalised account of the behind the scenes production of the original 1922 film.
It's better than the 2024 one imo
2024 ❤
I love how the 2024 one is so dark it's like impossible to watch unless you're in a dark room 😂
1922 have iconic shadow
Oh, Knock doesn't carry Orlok's coffin everywhere this time.
Kinsky stratosferico .. Sublime ... Inquietante
Count Orlok
1922: Max Schreck
1979: Klaus Kinski
2024: Bill Skarsgård
In the end. It was about Nosferatu trying to clap cheeks.
Well... 2024 version is incredible.
I can't get over how much the 1979 vampire looks like Billy Corgan from the Smashing Pumpkins 😅
There is another version, also 2024.
Naturally, they used music from the Twilight movies.
@4:38 is iconic for the original
Imagine waking up and seeing that shadow coming towards you
I’m trying to focus on 1922 and 2024 side by side
This is truly amazing. I really love this video. Thank you so much for this. 🖤🩶🖤🩶
Mureau Nosferatu - 1 hr 34 min
Herzog Nosferatu - 1 hr 47 min
Eggers Nosferatu - 2 hr 12 min
Tbh, I feel Bram Stoker’s Dracula from Francis Ford Coppola is a bit left out as another masterful adaptation, but still a good video.
Wat about the Doug Jones version?
Alexandre Desplat is Wonderful.
The demascus looks almost ifentical in all 3 versions
