Thank you for sharing your interpretation! I would like to add an important detail 😊: "Liliac" in Romanian language is both the flower lilac and the bat 🦇, which is wonderful that they made it sound specifically in Romanian when the count smells the locket and identifies the smell of lilacs. (Vlad Ţepeş (The Impaler) - the inspiration for Dracula was a Transilvanian ruler (Transilvania being part of Romania). As a Romanian, I felt proud that Robert Eggers went so far into applying this to the film. It proves his attention to research details.
You really do have a very beautiful and calming sounding voice. Lilacs are and have always been my personal favorite flower. The scent reminds me of my childhood and the best memories of my life. For some reason lilacs were present throughout all the best times of my life. That was a beautiful description you told of this gorgeous and mystical flower. New to you content and really like the way you present your stories. You're like a female version Bob Ross calming style voice.❤❤❤
The mismatch between lilac blooming season and the times of year when scenes apparently occur might be anything from continuity error to a way to subtly destabilize the viewer. I’m favoring the latter at the moment.
yess love the analysis! - also off topic from the video but I checked out your insta and your stories are like... perfectly curated?? the balance of goth and plant and dark academia is honestly just *chefs kiss*
Interesting video, I loved the original Nosferatu in black and white, deliciously creepy…your voice is always so nice to hear, you don’t need distracting music 🤗💜
Thank you for your thoughts on the lilac flower. Let me add some meaning regarding lilac flowers in Romanian culture: the lilac is a spring flower and is associated with engagements/weddings. It is a resiliant bush, and shows desire for a strong union between a couple. Also, purple lilac is to signify love, but the over consuming love where you lose yourselves in each other. Which, tbh, I think really fits this film.
I was just thinking I would get a Lilac tattoo for this movie, all of my tats are subtle media references, this just solidified my reasoning :) love this vid! I honestly think you would rule at making more content like this, you have a calming voice that is nice to hear!
Not a fan of horror movies, but I looove gothic tales, and this movie was dripping in gothic and romanticism!!! Noticed Ellen as the cat killing Orlok the rat as well!!!! (together with the fresh dawn and the sun it makes for beautiful symbolism). Did you notice William Defoe´s character has cats in his apartment as well?
yes! at first I brushed it off as just a random animal in the space but once he was talking with ellen while she was in bed and made a deliberate choice to talk about the cat I was like ohhhhh
You mean the well enunciated, excellently paced , clearly thought out discussion im listening to? You clearly have no idea what ASMR is? 😂 It's an entire genre, welcome to it.

Nosferatu also says "Lilacs" the first time he smells the heart pendant... Thomas asks "What??"

The breathy softly spoken voice is really difficult to hear

@ then it should be labelled as ASMR, not a video essay
@@rebecca9904 But it's NOT "difficult to hear" and there's no rule to HAVE to label it ASMR whether or not it's ASMR. And.......it sounds great. 😂
Turn up the volume
Bro, she is talking in a normal voice, I think some might be up with your ears.
i can bearly hear you
