hey. so I stick my disc in my console reads the game. then it'll make like an eject noise and a being inserted noise. then it'll tell me I have a disc read error. do you think I should just switch the laser or try to fix the drive. I cleaned the laser with alcohol but with no results. man I hope it's just the laser.
toontownlegomaster if there is not daughterboard, it is possible that you can replace all drive, but if there is daughterboard you need to leave old board
I have the cuh-1215a does it matter what laser I put in it. It doesn't even have a daugther board can I just put any bluray in it. I think it said that the laser was kem-490aaa and at the very bottom of the sticker that has kem-490aaa it says 1204B but most of the ebay listings say like 1204A. So does that even matter if theres an A or B?
toontownlegomaster a or b does not metter i guess. sometimes mechanism rhat draws cds in jums out of place. check all ribbon cables visually for damaged pin. and if everything is good, just get a laser
Yeah I'm going to get a new laser, thanks for the reply. But what are the usual symptoms of a ps4 not reading disc. And what I mean by this is how does the disc drive sound like when it's not loading disc. Like mine loads the game, then after 20 seconds it'll make this eject noise, and reloading noise but the disc physically doesn't come out it just makes this noise then after a minute goes by it just tells me unrecognized disc, do you think it's just the laser or something wrong with disc drive deck?

I installed a new disc drive into my ps4 and every thing worked fine untill I switched the drive board and now the disc drive won't spin the discs anymore. It just makes a clicking sound and won't recognize any disc. I noticed when I move the big ribbon cabble a little bit that the disc starts spinning for a moment, but stops right after. Could you tell me which ribbon cable I have to repair?
My laser makes weird noises and wont read discs unless i eject the disc and put it back in and wait about 7-10 seconds then click start game application and it works fine, but i get error code CE-30005-8 which says disc is dirty but i think the lens is dirty from smoke in my house.
yes you are right there. i opened up loads of them and lenses get dirty from smoke. you could open your drive and if you have q tip with some 99 alcohol it may work after cleaning. i am using usb microscope to look if laser is clean.
NVelme i just replaced the laser and my disc was rattling inside and had hard time reading the disc then i checked and the rod was sitting wrong but it seems to be working fine now after i popped the rod back in place, couldnt find the 99% rubbing alcohol around my area
I believe that someone could charge about 40 bucks. look online for someone who is selling second hand consoles a lot and ask them, you could get a bargain

that's good, i popped mine back as well, but it is reccommended to clean them as well, so it draws cd in easily
