Kyle Holzhueter, PhD. works as a builder, researcher and educator specializing in natural building materials and sustainable systems in Japan. In 2017 Kyle founded Permaculture Center Kamimomi, a Permaculture demonstration and education site in Okayama, Japan. Kyle regularly does Plastering jobs and workshops and educational seminars across Japan and around the world.

As someone who lives in an old 60 year old home and has tried some plastering, I know the benefits of it as well as the pleasure of doing some of it yourself- like Kyle says, it is a workout! It is also meditative and very rewarding when it's done (just need to keep my lines a bit cleaner on the edging). I learned so much prepping for this talk and look forward to doing a workshop sometime with Kyle and learning even more about the materials, techniques and artisans who make the tools and materials.
