I just laughed out loud when I first started watching this video. It reminds me of many years ago when John bought me my Kitchen Aid stand mixer for Christmas. He told everyone it was the world’s most expensive mixer because it cost over 40k all due to the massive kitchen renovation that ensued. So….free garden boxes = complete garden overhaul including walls! John called it the snowball effect! It will be awesome. Can’t wait to see the vision come to life!

I did something similar with a bathroom renovation. The toilet was leaking and it snowballed from there. I used my mother who was living with me at the time as the reason for the reno.

Consider increasing the depth of the new bed along the driveway to 6 feet instead of 2 or 3 feet, it will be a better scale for the long length and it would give you more options for planting. Would oak leaf hydrangeas be an option for example, or just one type of plant or shrub for the eye to rest since your cottage garden has many types of plants? This is going to be very exciting and interesting to watch! I’ll be here for it!

I guess Jerry is one of those folks who always need a project. Then he's like Larry the Cable Guy. "Let's get 'er done." That's why your house, gardens, etc. always look SO GOOD.

There's no sense in anyone being sad about the zinnias. Southerners know that powdery mildew was going to come for them this month or next month anyway. You just spared them from that slow and ugly death.😂 I'm excited to see this new space develop! Those garden beds are going to look really nice!

Jenny I am so excited for you! A project just for you, not the garden center or production. I can't wait to see how it all transforms! I'm the type of person that would still try to save things to use elsewhere at some other time🙂 like the large rocks on the slope or the edging. I am bracing myself for when the Crape Myrte tree goes (always wanted one) and any of the other plants, but I know you will make it look so beautiful in the end. I will just look away at that point😃

I hope you enjoy your beds as much as we have enjoyed ours! I installed the 32” tall midnight blue modern bed. I purchased the 53 inch bed with the 41 inch extension and they were super easy to put together. The blue looks sharp and it was a present for my parents, specifically my dad who’s 82! They garden in Zone 8a here in South Carolina and he loves not having to bend over! My only wish is that VegoGarden comes out with solar lights for this version. 😊

You and Jerry are taking on a new project, quite a large one and I must say I like your mind set. Some of your plans have been well thought out and others you are just going to go with the flow and see where your landscaping designs lead you! I saw roads being worked on & they would take forever to complete but Jerry has the right equipment. Your project is well underway already and I like the way you take a break when necessary Jenny right on your bench by a bouquet of beautiful flowers. Have a very safe business trip together and thanks for sharing your latest video.

Jenny, the view up the steps into the raised bed area felt like a welcome breath of "Come on in!" without the middle garden bed blocking your path...kinda like the entrance to your signature garden. Urns would look great being moved forward, maybe near the steps. Would love to see your layout of the new beds! So exciting! It will tie in nicely with your back patio, even though they aren't connected. Can't wait to follow this project!

Oh Jenny I am so looking forward to watching your new project come to life. I got 5 minutes into this video and it suddenly dawned on me why the entire center of my firepit/pavillion area just has been bugging me for years. The pit, center grassy area and a big dry stacked rock wall hydrangea /hosta bed needs to flip flop their places to make the area more balanced. Can you just hear my husband if I told him that. 🤣 We'll both be 70 within 2 years so not much chance of that happening. But sure is nice to dream! Meanwhile, I will enjoy watching you guys make over your space. Thanks for all the inspiration! From central PA zone 6b

Have a few dwarf crape Myrtles and find that they fit the bill through dry, hot summers in the south. They stay small, maybe 3 x 3, don’t get eaten, and require almost no care. I love that they fit in tight places where you need color. They do need sun. Razzle Dazzle is one variety I like.

Used landscape fabric with the same thinking. Realized within a few years that it was a serious deterrent to healthy development of root systems, and it seemed to smother the soil which looked grey and sickly underneath. Took it out as plants were dug, and replaced or repositioned. And, of course, mulch was added over years. Am still digging it out 8 years later only now it’s under 8 years of mulch. The soil underneath looks just as bad now as it did then. A huge mistake.

My experience with landscape fabric in garden walkways is fabulous. Weeds that grow on top of pebbles and landscape fabric are "easy" to pull and get the shallow roots. A whole lot easier than trying to get weeds with roots growing in the ground.
