Yes, they are a lot of meetings. Is not a position for someone that prefers hands-on tools rather than documenting, but the nice side, is you get to know the big picture of the business to really find the cracks and the possible solutions.
I agree. Meetings are inevitable in data governance, not to mention the struggle of getting a buy in on every solution you try to roll out. As a result, there is need for consistent data literacy to ensure the business understand the what, why and how the different data-based solutions will help their different departments and day to day activities.
Absolutely PaulineAshley. Data literacy is key and I think the other side of the coin, a level of business literacy is also important. Especially with data governance, as it is so much business driven, one should also understand the business side of things, business needs and requirements.
Thanks for the video. I am a data analyst in a school district who soon needs to leave my current position to relocate closer to family. I have been banging my head against what job I want next. I’m not sure I want to continue being a data analyst as my strengths and interests don’t completely align, but I’m just now learning about data governance and it sounds like it may be a really good fit for me.
@lightsondata I forgot I had commented this! I’ve gone back and forth - been applying to a lot of jobs and actually had my first interview today for a job I didn’t even apply for! The hiring manager/data enterprise lead sought me out on LinkedIn to interview. It’s for a data governance specialist/lead role! Back to your videos I came because I got a data assessment exercise to complete for them haha. I am excited/nervous in a good way I guess. I feel like there is a lot I don’t know but need to just go for it!
Hi, I love to watch your videos related to DG. Could you please share on how to best lead critical data element discussion wth buss users and to get all users to agreed on the final definitions of CDEs. Tqvm
I would like to learn more about DG. How and where can I sign up for your course. Is this course tool agnostic because I currently work on Informatica DG tools
I am a working professional in IT governance sector and now i want to work in data science/analyst/ ai field is there any feild which is the collaboration of both it governace and data science. So that my experience can be counted
Great question Krishnakant7566. I think any previous experience brings something useful to the table. There might be some overlap with a data engineer role, but as I mentioned, I think your previous experience will bring something beneficial to any data science role.

Yes, I think that's a big bonus and it's very rewarding on trying to fill in those gaps.
