  • From Season 17 of Walt Disney's Disneyland Anthology program we have Episode 11: It's Tough to Be a Bird, which originally aired on December 13th, 1970. This is an extended version of the 1969 theatrical release that won an Academy Award for Best Cartoon Subject. The central character is M.C. Bird, who arrives amid a flurry of gunfire. He complains that humans are a constant problem for birds. He believes we both admire and hate birds for their ability to fly. Starring Richard Bakalyan as the voice of M.C. Bird and Ruth Buzzi who sings the song, "When the Buzzards Return to Hinckley Ridge." Due to copyright an extended clip of The Three Caballeros has been removed.
At the end of the episode is a bonus five-minute clip featuring great VHS releases...given the source of this upload is an old VHS! Note that about 5 minutes of video has been edited out for content. It is a clip from the True-Life Adventures film, "Water Birds", specifically, the montage with the Hungarian Rhapsody soundtrack, which occurs at the end of original production.

Great use of classic golden age Walt Disney cartoon & movie clips in this 1968 Best Animated Short Oscar-winning film.

It's amazing to find out, how these old cartoons between the 1960's and 1970's were absolutely well drawn.
Even the voice actors were also amazing.
    A big retrospective like 👍
    from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮.
    Thank you 😸😺👍.

I remembered seeing this program on the show the Ink and paint club. I also remembered that this program was on Dtv and it came out in the same year as the Disney movie The Aristocats.

One of the animators who worked in this was Eric Larson, one of the nine artists in the animation department whom Walt trusted the most. Eric worked on practically every Disney movie from Snow White all the way to The Great Mouse Detective (1986). He animated a lot of characters so different from each other. Eric was the lead animator for the Cinderella character. Most of all, I also like seeing him do minor scenes of characters he wasn't specifically assigned to do.

Fun fact the actor who voices M.C Bird (the bird in this) is voiced by Richard Bakalyan who voiced Dinky in The Fox and The Hound

Nice! He was also in several Disney live-action films beginning with Follow Me, Boys! and then the Witch Mountain films along with all the Kurt Russell/Dexter Riley films. An awesome dude with a unique voice!
