      I was nervous to get a root canal too a few years ago, but after watching videos and learning the exact process, it made it so easy! Learning what to expect and knowing there should never be any pain really helps a lot in terms of anxiety. I mean, I get anxious going to the dentist regardless of what I’m getting done, even though I go to a great dentist. But it helps minimize it a lot to learn about every procedure you get before getting it

    I had one done in 2007 and it wasn't too bad. Before injecting the novocaine the dentist sprayed a topical numbing agent where he planned to inject. There was only one spot the needle hurt and that was where I still had some residual inflammation from the abscess. After that it was just a waiting game on my end.

    I had a root canal on my back molar I felt the drill and the file in my root. It was an upper molar tooth #14. I was screaming in pain and the specialist didn’t ask me if I was ok or if I needed more numbing.

    I got two root canals on a premolar and molar (adjacent teeth) and I felt absolutely nothing during the procedure and pretty much fell asleep 🤣. I was super anxious, but my dentist office is pretty amazing. I have two crowns and have made sure to certainly take better care of my teeth. Im also in clear aligners too.

    Wow this wonderful video has taught me to brush and floss daily and go to the dentist every 6 months instead of 4+ years like the pandemic did to me. Yikes. The worst I've had is a filling a couple of times and I really disliked that minor work.

      Not TT Girl - but mine recommended an occlusal (mouth) guard ages ago.... and it WORKS. No cavities/grinding/cracks etc. in over a decade. I have family who've undergone extreme oral surgeries for bruxism over not wearing a mouth guard. I feel lucky!

    So, a root canal doesn't always include a veneer/crown?
    Btw, love your videos. Satisfying as hell!

    • @TeethTalk
      @TeethTalk  3 месяца назад +3

      thank you for watching! and front teeth root canals sometimes only need a filling or bonding after! some will need veneers/crowns depending on the severity of the decay! however all back teeth (molars) will need crowns! hope this helps!

    Root canal can cause a lot of issues if the bacteria in the tubules in the tooth is not totally disinfected - which doesn't happen these days because of single sitting root canal procedure followed by dentists.

    You said the (don’t mind my spelling) gutta percha is a rubber material. How does that work with someone who has a SEVERE latex allergy, my allergy is so bad I cannot be in a room with wet paint and touching the material causes blistering and numbness in the effected region with the chance of closing my throat.

    • @InternetDude
      @InternetDude 3 месяца назад

      I am allergic to latex material, what I've found helpful for symptoms is to take an allergy pill such as certizine (I'm probably spelling that wrong). I take it for a few days before/after if I know I will need any latex on my skin.

    How do people get this whole thing done in one day? It took me like 10 visits to my dentist to complete a root canal. Plus, now I have a completely useless tooth, I only chew on that side of my mouth if absolutely necessary because so much food gets stuck between that and the neighboring tooth that it eventually starts to hurt and I literally have to floss after every single meal. I think I need a new dentist.

    • @odeleya1768
      @odeleya1768 3 месяца назад

      I went to a root canal specialist for my first root canal and that was 2 visits, about an hour-an hour and a half each. My second and third one I got at my regular dentist and both were only one visit for an hour-hour and a half. It could depend on the condition of that tooth or on the dentist doing it. You really should be getting a crown, they say that a tooth is weakened after a root canal since they take out the nerve. A crown is the best option most of the time on back teeth, so you can have a fully functioning tooth again with its original shape and color.

    I have a cracked molar tooth (#37), but no decay and cavity. My dentist recommended a root canal treatment, followed by crown. Hi Whitney, may I ask can I do a crown without RCT?

    • @maytelopez2852
      @maytelopez2852 3 месяца назад +1

      You can, but if the nerve is infected, then it needs to be cleaned out. Otherwise, the abcess can create more problems and can lead to bodily diseases.
      Also #37 doesn't exist. Did you mean #32? The molars are 1-3, 14-19, 30-32

    • @Kimipu
      @Kimipu 3 месяца назад +1

      @@maytelopez2852 When they say #37, I assume they're referring to FDI/international numbering, which would be #18 (IIRC, a second molar) in universal/USA numbering. I wish we used it over here cause it's so much more logical T__T
