Just assessing this topic now as I'm doing research prior to buying. Warranties are a minefield and not easy to get your head around. There's the OEM who makes the base van, then the convertor and then the dealership. There are so many potential "get out of jail free cards" for each party should they need to invoke them if something goes wrong with the van. The customer is bound to get the runaround from each party claiming that it's other's responsibility and getting hold a copy of the actual T&C's (not the stuff they show on their websites) can also be a challenge in many cases.

I agree. They are indeed and most people assume now that insurance policies, warranties etc are something that are simply words quoted by marketing teams that make them sound so wonderful until such time that you actually want to claim against it, knowing they are unlikely to settle said claim.

Great topic to tackle Paul and thanks for all the research you've done to produce the video. Great consumer advice!
Just a few thoughts/suggestions after having watched it.
In the number of dealers for each brands, certain may be caravans only rather than motorhome or campervan dealers.
It would have been informative to have a category listing wether the manufacturer's warranty is limited to recreational usage or covers full-timing (you mentioned it for Auto-Trail and Roller Team).
You could have added a category (although you mention the subject at the end of the video) wether any dealer from the brand's network is obliged to carry out aftersales issues or only the supplying dealer is under obligation to honour any warranty work.
Maybe you could do a new video, with those suggestions included, with brands you haven't covered. I'm thinking of Westfalia (got one on order!), Dreamer, Itineo, Joa Camp, Sunlight/Carado, Etrusco, Niesman Bischoff, McLouis, Weinsberg, Rimor, Coachman Motorhomes, Globecar and Wildax.
PS: Pilote is pronounced as in "pillock"!

Thanks. Absolutely some of the dealers maybe caravan only. Some of the websites were not particularly helpful for research but we would encourage viewers to make their own enquiries. Regards vehicle use, such information will be in the spreadsheet (which is free to download). When editing videos you have to continually make decisions of content vs time. The subject of which manufacturers may enforce warranty work at any of their dealers is an interesting one. The UK is unique as many of them do not honour the work if they didn’t sell the vehicle. However, I question how easy that information would be to derive (or how forthcoming the manufacturers would be to inform us). But it is an interesting question. Our video should serve to highlight that the dealers are not as flexible when a warranty claim is made as their car sales counterparts.
We are always happy for suggestions so your list of additional manufacturers may be used in a future video however we feel that using the “Top 20” as defined by Practical Motorhomes was a great way to capture a number of important manufacturers. As already mentioned, there is a balance with viewers that watch on the platform of how long a video is vs the risk of content quality degradation.
Many thanks for taking the time to watch and for your suggestions.

Thank you for this very helpful, about to sign on the dotted line for our Pilot Wednesday, so a few more questions to ask.
We’re Nottinghamshire, touching on Derbyshire, so wondering if Jamie covers our area, ? Thanks again 😊

Thanks. Better to have more questions. My distrust of dealers would mean I would either want the answers to the questions written and signed or recorded. I think (might be mistaken) Jamie covers Staffs and borders Derbyshire but it is worth contacting him.

Great video as usual. Any ideas on the manufacturer with most warranty claims made and as I’m considering a Roller team for my next vehicle would you say you’re happy with yours and would you buy another? Thanks

We don’t have that information… it would be interesting to read. Unfortunately, many manufacturers have had issues with some vans. When you Google specific ones it is easy to find people that have had problems with most manufacturers. My concern with RT is that a common complaint seems to be regarding how they do not always honour warranty work. Personally, we have been happy with our van and many rental companies use Roller Team vehicles.
We did a video of our van as a “2 year” update. ruclips.net/video/4T5oA6202Bg/видео.html
