I know the ride vehicles have a lot of sound effects built into them, such as the roar of the engine when you're on the speed run, but that screeching at the end I can only assume is real. As in, the e-brake seems to lock up the actual surface tires, causing the all-familiar screech. If not, and that sound is artificial as well, then damn, Disney, you even got e-stop sound fx built into your rides.
That was the tires screeching when the brakes locked up. Happened to a friend of mine a year ago, around the same spot. Screeched to a stop at the end of the speed run, complete with burning rubber smell. They were allowed to ride again and got a set of fast passes too.

This may have happened because the car in front of you went out of profile and slowed down, triggering an E-stop sensor when you entered somewhere too close to it
The Gallifeyan Gamer: That was my recollection. If it starts raining or the track is wet the emergency brakes kick in and the ride stops in progress. They shut down the ride every time it rains due to the outside course.
i've been on the ride when it started to rain and it didn't stop at all. They did warn us before we went on that it might close during the ride but it never did. I got soaked but it was fun. i think we had the last ride of the day because it was at night and it started to pour down after we went on.

If lightning is within 5 miles, the ride is E-stopped and riders taken off the track immediately. If a car is on the steep angle outside, cast members have to manually push the car back to the station.
Don't you love it when these people climb into the ride and then decide they want to switch seats. Meanwhile everyone else is seated and ready to go. Happens on Splash Mt. a LOT.
i was one of the guinea pigs for this ride when it opened...it was broken more than it worked in the beginning....passholders got a chance to preview the ride...if of course you were willing to wait out the hours of breakdowns lol.
The_Haters 205 the cars themselves has red and blue lights on them to warn the people behind them that the car is stopping, but that couldn't happen unless it went into e-stop.
I was at World 3 years ago, in line for 2 hours and when I was next at the yellow line, it broke down. Boy where us people in line angry. They passed out a free FastPass, but it was very late in the day and my last day at DW so that didn't do me any good. I went back the next year and finally got to ride it. Its fun, but not terribly fast. The next day, I rode it again and it was kinda boring the 2nd time when you already know whats going to happen.
Test track breaks down far too often. It was too often when I was a CP in 2008, so I can't imagine it is much better. Glad to hear it is going to refurb in April.

This ride breaks down a lot my brother and dad were right by the exit then BOOM it brakes for 2 hours when it's extra magic hours and me and my mom diddnt ride it (this was last year when they diddnt have the magic bands)and my dad had the tickets so we were on a stupid bench till midnight
.-. every time i went to epcot in walt disney world me and my family'd stand in line for HOURS to try to get in. we've gotten close to the front a few times, but it never fails to break down. i only got to ride it after the obvious remodel (the cars are parked in the old test track entry-thing) on a chorus trip. the rest of them still have never rode it...it really sucks...
Did you know the epcot ball (Spaceship earth) collects rain and it gets channelled into the World Showcase Lagoon, thats why it doesn't get wet under the ball (Spaceship earth)
B L A G G Y the car has some mechanism where no matter what happens the doors always opens, but if that didnt happen the car will just smash right through it, doors are made of foam and the windsheild of the car will protect you if your pretty ass deserves it lol

That's what I figured. An e-stop is no joke.
Yeah - a "delay" is normal, but an E-stop is pretty special.
Good demonstration of how safe this ride is.
