      FYI the clasp and hex nuts for the 1/2 hp is wrong. The clasp are not big enough and the hex fits one way not the way into the pump. Which pvc nut did you use to connect the pump to filter?

      For anyone doing this. I looked all over. I can’t find any plastic fitting that does 3/4inch x 5/8 pvc fitting to get this to work. If anyone has link please let me know. Plastic only. Steel or brass do not fit.

      @davidmausjr I purchased the white threaded tubing in your Amazon kit and in this video link.
      BUT in this video you said the white tubing is your nemesis.
      Can you place a link to the black flexible tubing you recommend now. Thank you!

    Interesting rewatched this vid. Do you change the size tubing based on the HP of your chiller? I recently had my tiny pump from warrior willpower burn out and after getting a new 1000gph pump, the connectors on top of the chiller now slightly leak. It’s working with 1/2” tubing and a 1/3hp chiller

    I feel like a 1 HP chiller is overkill for the 70 gal ice barrel, shouldn't 1/2 HP be more than enough - especially if the barrel is now insulated? Also Penguin Chiller company sells a HE chiller that has a pump pre-installed inside and also has an ice barrel kit so you don't have to drill if you have the ice barrel. Not sure if you knew this, but wanted to see if you had any opinion on it.

    • @DavidMausJr
      @DavidMausJr  Год назад

      for sure! I had the 1/2 and it was perfect, but i wanted to check out the 1hp and ended up giving the 1/2 away to a friend who wanted to start getting cold. it would work great with the insulated 300. I have heard more bad reviews on the penguin than positive reviews, but i dont have any opinions on it.

    I noticed you have your chiller outside and unprotected---is it ok to keep it outside if it rains etc? I have mine in my garage with my tubing running outside to the tank. I also have a submersible pump in the tank pumping the water through the chiller. Since I spent like $1,100 on the chiller I want it to last---so thoughts on the weather set up is appreciated

    Important: All ports on the Ice Barrel 300 are 3/4 NPT (not GHT). Several of Dave’s kits include GHT threaded adapters that do not fit the Ice Barrel 300. Using those GHT adapters will result in damaging the threads on the Ice Barrel.

    • @DavidMausJr
      @DavidMausJr  11 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the heads up. For reference, i agree with you however the pieces i have in the kits are exactly (after trial and error) what I am using and there are zero issues. I have updated all the kits for the 300 and they have both options. If you want to go with NPT to NPT exclusive, they are the brass options in the kits.

    Does anyone have any ideas on how to reduce condensation with the original ice barrel 400? I have a very similar set up, although I’m using the 1/2 HP HE Penguin chiller. I’m getting so much water on my deck that it puddles. It looks more like a leak but I don’t seem to notice a drop in water level in the barrel. I just set everything up a couple of days ago, so still trying to work out the kinks.

      Anything i have tried without built in insulation condensates like crazy. Even the tubes will do it when it gets hotter out. I have a few videos from years past trying to figure it out. They make an absorbant mat on amazon that you could use that people have tried. amzn.to/3vgNx3K

I have the Ice Barrel 400 but I have currently set it up like you set up your Ice Barrel 300. The filter and pump are set up inline outside of the barrel. The majority of my leakage is coming from those connections, and not necessarily the condensation.
