I was so fortunate to live during the brief period of the Kennedy administration and actually saw him pass by me in a motorcade not more than 10 or 15 feet from me as he traveled to San Diego State to deliver a commencement address in the summer of 1963. How proud we were of him and what a terrible tragedy befell our country just a few months later.
He was truly a inspiration. Harvard grad, Navy veteran (purple heart & navy and marine corps medal recipient), best selling author (2x for "Why England Slept" & "Profiles in Courage"), youngest elected President ever! He and Theodore Roosevelt achieved so much so young 💯🇺🇸
Theodore Roosevelt was the youngest President ever. President Kennedy was the youngest man elected President. Theodore Roosevelt became President upon the death of William Mckinley.
“I’d like to take this moment and the powers vested in me to grant amnesty to whoever needs it” I bet the restrictees all voted for him! What a man of character, gone too soon.
What a very brilliant..courageous. gracious and very humorous man. AND he wrote ALL of his own speeches America and the entire world loved and owes this very fine man.. 💔
Nice speech, and I'm sure Kennedy enjoyed appearing at the USNA. Here he was, the ex-Lieutenant (jg), USNR, now the Commander-in-Chief. The junior officer was now in command! When Kennedy was assassinated, I was nine years old and in the fourth grade. I remember the lying in state, the state funeral, and the like. I also remember the enormous outpouring of grief from around the world. JFK was okay. He treated other nations with respect, he handled the Cuban missile crisis skillfully, and he signed the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. A forward-looking fellow.
why is it kennedy was lying in state when he was in wash dc which is not a state at all its in the district of columbia. when reagan kicked the bucket he lay in repose in the state of calif and when he was moved to wash dc again he was lying in state when not in a state at all........ you could say he was in a state of vertically challenged capacity. another difference was when jfk rode on a plane back to dc and maryland- he got to ride in the right forward luggage compartment...trippy
I was in 1st grade in Catholic School....in every classroom there was a picture of JFK and next to him the Sacred Heart of Jesus....lol When his assassination was announced the nuns shut down the school for the day! They next morning when I walked in to the kitchen, i saw my mother crying sitting at the kitchen table! That made a real impression on me!! For the next few days we were all watching on tv. Very sad time!
This is why he was a great president! He was an American; he served, and in combat, and supported our nation's warriors. He defied the rise of the Global Military Industrial Complex Contractors; former President Eisenhower's warning, today we see this happening before our eyes. He is missed... A Christian and a Desert Storm Vet, John
While sailing I had a way to remember port & starboard. Port & left have same number of letters. I truly love listening to JFK's addresses and speeches. Thank you for sharing. ♡♡♡
JFK lives in our hearts and minds as a hero for America. He survived the PT-109 crash in combat and proved to be gifted leader under pressure. Long live JFK.
Here is always hoping that someday, maybe within the next decade or so, a youthful, bright person with heart, vision and compassion will emerge, doesn't matter what gender, race, etc we need more youth to try and step into public service at all levels. There is a rather well known saying "Let youth be served" maybe be by watching some of these videos of Kennedy speeches, some one will be inspired enough to try.
I am a canadian, about 15 years ago I went for sugeries, shorthly after I had a lot of time on my hand. I always wanted to know why JFK was assssinated and since I had nothing but time I started doing research on him. I came across a the speech he did on 27 April 1961 called "the president and the press" that's how I started doing my research on conspiresies, that speech really opened my eyes as to what kind of world we live in. He tried to warned the public about those "world elites and the danger that laid ahead" The United States lost a great man that year. I still remember when my parents told us he had been assassinated. God rest his soul!
A truly memorable leader. His embarrassment would be great about how his party has fallen so far into the grips of what he fought so hard against...communist ideology. God Bless Jack!
All of American society is failing, forget about it. If you think it's the Democrats only that are failing, you must be a failing Republican. Afterall it's not Democrats that elected the embodiment of what America has now become a few years ago. It's just a shame
You do a disservice to both President Kennedy and also President O'Bama by bringing your racist, scurrilous, tripe here. Have you no decency? Or are you simply an a hole troll? *s/ Retired 24 Year US Navy Submariner - USNA Class Of 1965*
He was the greatest public speaker. No one comes close to him today.
Not even Biden lol
Please refrain from mentioning Biden in the same breath as this great American.
Obama and Reagan were great orators

Yes and it puts us all to shame. They raise the bar way too high.

He was also a gangster
The ending was great, "Left port, right starboard. If you can remember that your career is assured." Thank you for the upload. -from a Navy Veteran.
Kennedy a ex Navy man loved the US Military service!
👍🇺🇸🇺🇸😔
You can best believe that, on November 22, 1963, every person in that number relived this speech. No doubt, many of them cried.
Oh most definitely.
What a beautiful, humble and passionate man/speech and so provides respect, honor to military

The best years of the United States right here. I believe this was the pinnacle of American society.

I laughed and cried in the same video. One of a kind. Last of a breed in so many ways. Such a loss that stings more with each passing year. Bless.

Those lucky people who were there to hear our marvelous President's speech & see his humor, 3 months before he was tragically taken from us.

That is a fact! He inspires me even today!!
Don’t you mean John?
TheCaptainHank His name is (President) John Fitzgerald Kennedy, but his nickname is “Jack”.
The last Democratic president that believed in a strong military!
I can't be alone, the rendition of anchors aweigh which played at the end was awesome.
A president with the most class!
Absolutely - Class defines President Kennedy's character.

A great speech
I'm sure those men wept when they heard of Kennedy's assassination. And honestly, I wouldn't blame them.
Wish he'd brought the Caddy to Dallas that year!.
Great day for a great Navy then!
So many years before my time but i have said because I feel it my soul since childhood we need this Amazing
President he was literally stolen from us
Kennedy brought a comrade to the shore while dragging him by a strap in his teeth! And he wrote a distress message on a coconut! Think of that.

And kept the rind of that coconut on his desk in the oval office. Yes a true war hero!

He love the military
