Their song "Don't Stop Believin" was just recently voted by Rolling Store magazine as the Greatest Rock Song ever. Gotta react to it. Although, the greatest showcase of Steve Perry's vocals are from the 1981 Live in Houston song "Mother, Father". Take a listen.
It is hard to get the proper perspective on the lyrics these days. Back when this song was written there were no cell phones and no internet. Anyone who had to travel for their job was just cut off from their loved ones until they could get to a phone and call back home. Now, no matter how far away the people you care about are, you can reach out almost instantly.
Steve Perry- aka “The Voice”. Will forever be known as this ReRe. I graduated in 89’. I went to all 4 Proms, Freshman-Senior, this song started all 4. Journey was the very 1st concert I ever attended. His voice live, is even more iconic. You’re gonna get ALOT of Journey songs. They can really rock out too. But my “ALL TIME” favorite Journey song is “Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin”. Shows a very bluesy side I think you will LOVE. So have lots of fun diving deep down this rabbit hole!!🌹🎸
Journey was EVERYTHING to us back in the day! If this is thr 1st time youve heard Journey, girl, you havent heard anything yet!! They never disappointed. So glad that was my music. I dont think we realized how blessed we were with the best music EVER❤. Just thought this was how all music was!
Grew up in the 70's & 80's, graduated high school in 81. I saw Journey on this tour (Frontiers Tour) when Faithfully came out, Bryan Adams opened up for Journey. Music brings back places and times which is one of the things I love about music.
Your JOURNEY down this rabbithole will be s long one! Open Arms, Don't Stop Believing, Separate Ways, Anyway You Want It, Stone In Love, Send Her My Love, Who's Crying Now, Wheel In The Sky & many more
If I were a singer…. I d want to have Steve Perry s voice. He s known as “ the voice “ and he is Journey essentially. Yes there s another lead singer but SP is the one and only when he had that raw emotion and talent back at that time. Your reviews are genuine and heartfelt. Hope you continue listening. There s too many to suggest but anything in the 60 s , 70 s or 80 s is a great era to listen to music of that time.
Definitely need to go down the journey rabbit hole- “ highly recommend-. “Don’t stop believing” , -“ Any way you want it” , -“ Separate Ways “, -“ Wheel in the sky”, -Stone in love “ , -“ Who’s crying now” ,- “Mother , Father”, -“Lights” -- this should get you going
Some other popular songs are, ‘Open Arms’, ‘Separate Ways’, ‘Don’t Stop Believing’, and ‘Mother, Father’, all from his Houston Live Concert. They have tons of great hits, so it’s hard to pick. I found this article about Steve Perry, the lead singer and thought you might find it interesting, being a musician yourself. Steve Perry has the range of a high tenor and solid alto and is considered a countertenor. He is a rare tenor altino, a rare form of countertenor, a voice that many consider incomparable. His voice is very recognizable and a longtime friend of Perry's, Jon Bon Jovi, gave him the nickname, "The Voice."” Bon Jovi gave him the moniker in 1989 and it stuck with him for over 20 years.”
Steve Perry was known as The Voice. I think you can see why, Love this song. Check out Don't Stop Believing from the Houston Escape Tour 1981. It will blow your mind. Back then there was no auto tune, what heard was pure raw talent. Love your reaction!
This song was written by the Keyboardist Jonathan Cain wrote the lyrics to “Faithfully” on a paper napkin while on a tour bus . He said the melody came to him in a dream.
I must admit that I love the fact that you enjoy the video with us and not stopping it every 10 secs for a comment. Very impressed and made me a subscriber for life. Well Done, I'm going to share this channel with all my friends. Great Job :)
Still They Ride, and Send Her My Love live in Philadelphia is amazing. Also, Lights/Stay Awhile, and Wheel In The Sky live in Japan. Then check out Steve Perry's Solo work... Amazing!
A truly beautiful and classic song! Loved your reaction and your comments were very well said. Rere, there is so much great music that you haven't heard. And I am really enjoying this "Journey" with you😊❤
@@vernhoke7730floor seats, row 15, amazing show. Perry’s voice, Schon’s guitar…so good. Bryan Adams was fantastic too…he did this lil talk/singing thing with cuts like a knife and loved it.
Do yourself a favor and check out more Journey. Greatest band ever! Others will beat me to it but if you want to hear arguably, the greatest live vocal performance ever, check out "Mother, Father" live from Houston '81.
The Journey tribute band Separate Ways played at our organization's 35th Anniversary Gala - the wife and I slow danced to this and I cried like a baby.
Oh my goodness, u gotta check out Foolish Heart by Steve Perry during his solo career! The official video is OUTSTANDING! Journey takes me back to my younger days. They were EVERYTHING! Love that people like u r keeping this old music alive😎✌🏻
Steve Perry the voice, nobody sings like him and Journey is not the same without him. They were so perfect together during this time and absolutely great live. Check out the “Escape” concert it will blow your mind. Steve's voice together with Neal's guitar and Jonathan's piano so so good. But also Ross on bass and especially Steve Smith on drums were just absolutely great.
I have seen journey twice live here in New Orleans with Steve Perry once in a stadium and once Arena, he never disappointing me he sounds just like that live
Jonathan Cain was a productive songwriter for Journey. The first time singer Steve Perry heard this song he wanted it for his solo album. Cain insisted this was going to be a Journey song. amongst others he wrote; Faithfully, Don't Stop Believin, Open Arms, Separate Ways. Proving that life/relationships on the road are difficult to maintain, Cain and his wife Tane divorced the next year in 1984.
Rere, you'll love Journey's song, *"Ask The Lonely",* it's a non-stop banger! And one thing I love about it is that it features the lead singer, Steve Perry's lower register voice, which is far less commonly heard in their songs than his trademark higher register. He's got exceptional range, and, *"Ask The Lonely",* is a great testament to that.
His song 🎶 MOTHER FATHER” Live in Houston. It was rarely sang due to the strain on his cords. Phenomenally performance his voice is an instrument. His parents divorced he said it’s still hard for him
I would recommend When you love a woman, Who's Cryin' now, Send her my Love, Open Arms, Separate Ways, Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' and this only gets you started with all there great Songs!!
Who's Crying Now , very nice song, also Don't Stop Believin' , Wheel in the Sky (Official HD Video - 1978), Any Way You Want It (Official HD Video - 1980), Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) (Official HD Video - 1983) greetings from Germany
Born in 1970 I was exposed and grew up with some of the best music in history in every category. I didn’t appreciate it until now at my age because I realize that today’s music and artists can’t compare. The amount of true talent and voices with amazing Ballads that are now history and so very few can compare in today’s world. I do enjoy seeing the young generation finding what are now considered classics but still can’t appreciate the amount of impact these artists and music had on Pop Culture and Society at the time. We think of Taylor Swift as being a huge performer but she would’ve been just one of many back in the days of endless talent.
I absolutely love this band before Steve with Steve even now! Greg was fantastic too and Arnel is about as close to Steve as I think you can get! They are all fantastic! Great band!
Well, if you've decided to go down this road to appreciate more journey, then you've made a great decision. They've got a couple of dozen songs as good as this, And you will love each one of them equally. Enjoy the trip.
I love all of Journey songs, but I think I’m going to have to say that this one is my favorite. But anything you react to buy them, I can’t imagine you not liking it. 7:48
Journey Feeln' That Way / Anytime are not separate songs but rather two consecutive tracks on their 1978 album “Infinity”. The songs are designed to flow seamlessly into each other. There are quite a few vids of this and maybe an official one but this was before the MTV craze kicked in
You have to do a Reaction to Journey with lead Singer " Steve Perry " there Escape Tour live in Houston 1981 They Sound even better live. songs like " Don't Stop Believin " Stone in Love " Girl Can't Help it " Open Arms " made it to No. 3 on the Billboard hot 100, " Who's Crying now " Mother Father " Escape " Stay Awhile " Steve Perry" is known as ( The Voice ) He is one of the Best if not the Best Singer in Rock History.
I sang this song to my wife in an attempt to save our marriage 30 years ago. Unfortunately, she was already gone. Great song. Great performance. Steve Perry. The "Voice" everybody.

No wonder he is called the voice. What incredible talent. No auto tune, just plain talent.

ANOTHER ROMANTIC Ballad by Journey is the song "Open Arms".... short, but very heart-felt.
yeah its a panty dropper
No computers just human talent 👍🏻
They call him The Voice. That is pure Singing and no autotune whatsoever....
The ultimate wedding song is When You Love A Woman/ Oh, the Voice! Steve Perry is the voice of his generation.
If you want to be blown away, listen to Journey "Mother Father" live 1981 in Houston
This x1000
Yes! But, all of their songs from that concert were terrific!
Check out their live performance of "Don't Stop Believing" from their 1981 Escape Tour in Houston. Or, any song from that concert, actually.
Open Arms and Send her My Love!
Open arms & Don't Stop Believing , are probably their biggest hits...
Exceptional musicians with many great songs...❤

When you Love a woman is another beautiful song.
My favorite American rock band ever! This song always makes me cry! Glad you enjoyed it!
This song really touched my heart and soul, you can feel the emotion coming out his voice. It’s a beautiful thing 😊

He is a one of one. And so are you - thank you for reviewing all this great music!
"I get the joy in rediscovering you" is perhaps the most romantic line in any song, ever
Ya, written by Jonathon Cain for his wife. Eventually they'd divorce, oopsy.

This is Journey's take on Bob Segar's "Turn the Page"... A story about how tough life on the road is for the performers.
Agreed! I love Journey and Bob Segar too! Definitely a common thread on those two songs!
