The first half of JAKQ was pretty dark and realistic but after Big One was introduced, it became more light-hearted with Big One stealing the show and their Big Bomber attack has a similar feel with Gorenger Hurricane that can create any weakness to defeat the monster of the week. It also has an annoying side character, Tamasabrou Hime who acts as the team's cook and comic relief which change the tone of the series. Does anyone remember Big One's disguise as Hilter as he tricks one of the monsters who is a Nazi which will never work in today's content.
I managed to watch some early episodes of JAKQ, and its surprisingly serious and dark, even by today’s standard. I remember watching one of their affiliates die before he manages to give some kind an information regarding the mission to the JAKQ. The grounded and realistic plot was actually good, but thats not kids want to see, which is the main demographic of JAKQ and gorenger before that.
JAQK had an early out of suit appearance of Kenji Ohba-san in an early episode. He later went on to appear in Battle Fever J, Denjiman, and Space Sheriff Gavan.
Filipino toku fan here. Rather surprising that this was shown in our country around 1978. Though I wasn't born at that time (I was born 1986) and for my generation, the Super Sentai teams that became a hit to us were Choudenshi Bioman, Hikari Sentai Maskman, Chikyuu Sentai Five and Choujin Sentai Jetman. Well, you learn something new. :D
I loved that season so much and it’s quiet underrated! For 70‘s standards this was actually pretty decent. Ofc it was bit too adult and not what kids would like but I loved it.
I was referred to by a fellow artist who is a fan of Super Sentai and said that my OCs (inspired by Playing Cards) reminded them of this - and I had no idea this even existed until then. I have them to thank for this. ♠️♦️♣️♥️
Thank you for your kind note! With JAKQ behind now covered I'm excited to jump into Battle Fever J for the next long form Super Sentai episode. And hopefully since I'll have my voice this time I can do it justice!
Jakq was the first showa era series I saw I liked the plot I just didn’t like how they always had to go back to the capsules to henshin you can tell later on that the producers seemed tired of it since they usually cut those scenes out
@@JapanHero Here are the allrider episodes and movies i was talking about.in case you miss any of them. Double rider episodes of 1971 few episodes and 1 movie of V3 5 riders vs king dark last episode and tv special of stronger few episodes and 1 movie of skyrider super-1 movie Zx Movie last 4 episodes of Rx allrider vs Dai shocker let's go Kamen Rider super hero Taisen Heisei vs Showa Super Hero Taisen GP Super hero Senki.
JAKQ was one of those common series in the 70s and 80s where the producers had trouble putting their artistic vision in contrast to making a children's series, so they often went overboard and lost ratings and their producers were forced to change the tone of the series. Maybe because many of them come from Japanese cinema and we have fewer restrictions on TV than we may or may not have. This series is kind of problematic because of that, it starts one way and ends another and I couldn't enjoy it as Battle Fever J

I still think the JAKQ/Card Costume design is still one of the best ranger designs ever in my opinion
Jakq and goranger costumes have the Shotaro charm.

Nice! Glad you were able to discover J.A.K.Q. Maybe they can be a source of further inspiration to expand on your characters and their universe.

Shotaro really love cyborg super heroes.
My favorite underrated sentai
Can you make a video about Guyferd?
As it happens I've been rewatching! Unsure when I will get through the whole series, but it's absolutely coming in the next month or two.
This show actually better in terms of story than gorenger.
Can you make a video about Allrider crossover were the latest main rider team up with all the previous Main riders.
Absolutely! It's on the list, so it's more of a question of when I can fit it in the queue. Thank you for the suggestion.

It’s sad that this isn’t even technically the worst sentai I’ve ever seen
Which is the worst ? And please don’t say Ninninger :(
@@GLBizzie Dino Force Brave
JAKQ Dengekitai was a boring show.
I have the Toei disc 5 but it seems grainy… is the entire set of discs like this with the picture quality?
