    Alice Cooper brought music and theatre together better than any rock act in history. I was in attendance at his 1979 tour and recall the dancing bottles, along with so many other memorable moments. Legend is not a strong enough word to describe this man.

      Legend indeed. I met him once. I’m a flight attendant and one of my pilots recently told me a story that when he was deadheading in first class he was sitting next to Alice. He said that he was a complete gentleman and shook hands with everyone who recognized him.
      Class act.

    I remember as a kid struggling to stay awake for “The Midnight Special” to watch Alice Cooper. I’m not such a fan of classic rock in general, but I love this man with a passion! I saw him live last summer. He was amazing!

    i was a young teen around this time and saw alice at the arizona state fair. the crowd was scary to me then, seemed like all bikers and hard partyers. the show was an incredible blend of rock and theater, with animals, motorcycles, midgets, young women in scant costumes, etc.. at one point alice was put into a guillotine, had his head chopped off, then his headless body carried his head to the front of the stage. epic! what a performer.

      there are only a handful of "rock" acts that I have seen pull this music/visual blend off well. Alice, Gwar, Laurie Anderson, Cornelius, U2... and I have not seen Pink Floyd or Waters solo but easy assumption for them too. Maybe Kiss too, but never saw them either.

    One true thing about Alice Cooper was that he was brutal but truthful.
    Here, he's singing about his stay in asylum for alcoholism. Each character was based on actual people in the asylum.
    One big party going on! 🥳
    Happy Friday 🥳 Thank you for sharing! 💖

      @@JQ127-c4e Those are two GREAT albums that should get more respect as time goes on. I'd add the School's out album too. Amazing tunes and creativity on that album. It's a lot more than just the "School's Out" song.

      @jimdep6542 Oh definitely. I love School's Out! Slightly off topic but I just read Dennis Dunaway's book about the band and if you haven't read it definitely check it out. Excellent book tho AC really stabbed those guys in the back. Sad how it all ended.

    • @jimdep6542
      @jimdep6542 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@JQ127-c4e Yes, I read it a couple years ago and still have it. Dennis's book is great and was interesting to read about some people in the music business that they crossed paths with. I loved his cough syrup drugged out early days.....LOL. AC really did throw those guys under a bus to promote himself. I lost interest after School's Out. Billion Dollar babies just didn't resonate with me. Really sad about Glen Buxton. I enjoyed his lead playing and the guy needed help.

    That' some top notch entertainment! Great song, great singing/stage presense, great band and a tight, funny vaudevillish number. Wish his last WB record had got better airplace, so Alice would stay thqt glorious, original, intriguing artist, with some fantastic songwriting. After the excellent Dada his career went on a three year hiatus, after that he returned heavy metal and nowadays it bacame just one more band, on a sideshow act.

    From the Inside, Goes to Hell and Nightmare were Cooper's most artistic records. He was back on the sauce by the time this show happened and he looks terrible. But he can still sing and remember lyrics (seems hardly anyone memorizes lyrics today given sophisticated teleprompters). Dick Wagner must have been unavailable for this show. Thanks for posting.
