I’ve installed gutters professionally for years. And this is the first video I’ve seen where the downspouts were attached with just a x cut and the tabs bent down and screwed… this is the way I do it on everything from a shed to a million dollar home
Nice video, you are a hard worker! Those look like 5” gutters, should be using 7’ gutters for metal roof. The water flows faster off a metal roof is why you should be using 7” type. To bad Lowe’s dose not stock them, maybe special order from pro desk.

Hey, this is GREAT GUTTER INFORMATION for the DIY! Why? This video gave the DIY more tips than This Old House! Why? First, you gave a figure of 1/4 inch for every 10 feet for your drain measurements, again better than This Old House.
Another point to mention is the way you cut the drain hole in the gutter and used the “X cut,” and use the tabs from the X cut to fasten your first piece of downspout! Wow, that was really a cool trick for the DIY. Why? We noticed that EVERY gutter video added the traditional fitting for the downspout connection, along with silicone and worst yet screw heads from the top, both of which becomes blockades or stopping points for the leaves and debris to exit the gutter which causes the gutter to overflow and defeats the purpose of having a gutter!

I have an out-building where they left the rafter tails exposed. What should I put up to support gutters? I'm not having any luck finding gutter videos that don't use finished buildings.
I would put a 1x4 or 1x6 on the ends of the rafters for the gutters to screw to. Hope this helps thanks for watching

Great video, first of all. I want to do this myself, trying to figure out downspouts go at corners? Trying to find a rookie guide to design and place properly. Any suggestions sorry for my ignorance.
If it helps the big chain stores like lowes home depot make premade corners you could order what color you needed and the put a downspout drain on one side or the other of it ,than fasten your main runs to the corner sections. Hope this helped, good luck
What type of self tapping screws are you using to connect the down spout to the gutters? Awesome video. Plan to repair my gutters as well.
They sell them at most hardware stores that carry the gutter or downspouts that you can match your screw color with your gutters. Good luck I'm sure you will do just fine and thank you for watching

I've seen 10ft section go for $33 near me
Here in ohio atour lowes it's about 12 dollars per 10ft for 5.5 gutter and 16 dollars per 10 ft for downspout, it's a little cheaper here I think.
