It's also more poetic for Nico. He lived in Liberty City for long enough to decide to give up his principles for good money (and Roman had advised him to do so btw). And now he paid the price for this.

you dont need a mod. 1) choose revenge instead the deal 2) after you beat him in the shooting on the ship select the deagle for the execution and get a kill animation ta-da Niko like the cold badass he is will shoot him first in both legs before giving the final round - then you can have your personal time with the corpse.
I have played the game literally like 100 times and have i never chose the money always Revenge to keep roman alive and plus having money in this game is not really a big deal like GTA V

He kills Dmitri instead - Pegorino then kills Kate McReary on Romans wedding in a drive-by for disobying him. You kill Pegorino in the last mission. In the deal ending you do the deal for Pegorino but Dmitri betrays him and rats him out to the Commission of the 5 Mafia families - The families kill Pegorino for working with the Russians which tried to take over the heroin market from the mafia. Dmitri hires a hitmen which kills Roman at his wedding while the hitmen is fighting with Niko because you got the money from the heroin deal which was meant to end in Dmitris hands together with the heroin. You kill Dmitri in the last mission.
