One important thing to note is that Quan Chi's Zone of Waste (down forward 3) doesn't drain meter on opponents who are knocked down, the same way that Sareena doesn't as well. Otherwise I hope this helps!
A launcher into F4, Sub zero freeze, EX Trap underneath them, F4, DF3 sets up trap, pushes them into it, sets up df3 and still lets it be your turn with a standing reset. Thats the best setup Ive found so far for his new portal and works like a charm.
@@cryingman7679 no worries, big thanks to yourself for sharing your tech you found. Any chance youd show off some stryker? Him taking 50 health is a bit annoying though
@@naratem I can definitely give Stryker/Quan Chi a try! I’ve been labbing each kameo with Quan so it will probably end up in a video going over all kameos with Quan Chi.
Btw bro im not sure if you know this already, but if you put block mode on auto they will block after every combo for a while then reset to not blocking, instead of changing block to all to test block on wake up.
Oh that’s how that works. I literally didn’t know that in my time of playing this game lol! I’ve just been doing a combo and changing it manually, so this actually helps so much. Thank you!
Thanks for watching the vids! Unfortunately I am not on Twitch nor do I stream on RUclips. I don’t have the time to commit to something like streaming though it’s definitely something I’m thinking about doing in the future!
It's cool they decided to buff his gimmicks instead of just making his buttons faster. Adjusting frame data or dmg numbers is a boring way of buffing/nerfing characters. Now we get a really cool character with interesting tools.
Hi, haven’t played MK1 in a few months and now I’m returning I’d like to learn this guy as I missed him during his release. Was wondering if this video is suitable for beginners to this character or if there’s a video you’d like to point me in the direction of? I’d appreciate it.
This video is more of a supplement to this full guide I made here: ruclips.net/video/bKf213kzjWg/видео.html It's a bit long as I go over everything (his normals, specials, gameplan, etc.), and a little outdated because of the patch. I also highly recommend Shujinkydink: www.youtube.com/@shujinkydink Very good pro player, also mains Quan Chi and has tons of videos going over him. I would also recommend PNDK&M: www.youtube.com/@PNDKM Ketchup is another pro Quan Chi main, and also has guides for the character and more. So you have some good options here, especially when it comes to learning Quan Chi!
@@blank4142 In terms of tier, I’d say in a casual tier list I’d put him as a low B (that’s being generous) or a high C. He definitely has a lot more now, and is a solid character. He still has some glaring issues though. Having low health, slow startups to his jab and down 1, armorable gaps in all his strings, and he still has some really bad match ups. The only thing I’d want them to change is either give him base health like the rest of the roster, or make his stand 1 and down 1, 7 frames and 8 frames respectively. But even with these downsides he’s still super solid, and can play the best keep out game in the whole roster.
You probably can, but I haven’t found a way to do it yet. Mainly because her armor has three hits, is insanely fast, and you need to do a 4th hit to get her out of the animation. So it’s quite difficult to actually pull it off even with Stryker. And if you want to do a bone cage setup with Stryker/Quan you get 3 hits max, so I’m still trying to lab that and figure it out. Hopefully we can find something!
I’m not usually one for tier lists, but if I had to put him somewhere for a casual tier list (since I don’t play in tournaments just due to them being hard to find) I’d put him as a mid tier character probably towards the middle of mid tier. He’s not the best, but he’s definitely not the worst now that he has stronger keep out and space control. He still has some REALLY bad match-ups, but I believe that there are a lot more characters that struggle more than he does in general. It also heavily depends on the kameos being used for both Quan Chi and the opponent, but in general I’d say he’s right in the middle. He’s just a very solid character!
I would say so! You can still do OTG’s with his earthquake, you can do some nasty armor setups by combining the armor assist with Quan Chi’s down forward 3. You can even do the same bone cage/armor break setup that I did with Sektor with Tremor instead! All you have to do is Tremor’s overhead rock toss assist and it works the same as Sektor’s rocket. So they’re still a very solid team.
@Crying Man , First stop sniffling and wipe those tears off boy. Second, Try using Frost with the Bone Cage setup. They HAVE to block when getting put in the cage or they get frozen and locked into another setup or a Waisting portal to meter drain if they get frozen.
Maybe, however Quan Chi didn’t really get any changes to his strings so everything is about the same except for everything I showed in this video. The next time I’ll go in depth with Quan Chi will be a video where I show how all kameos work with him!
One important thing to note is that Quan Chi's Zone of Waste (down forward 3) doesn't drain meter on opponents who are knocked down, the same way that Sareena doesn't as well. Otherwise I hope this helps!
I’m actually shocked how this video doesn’t have more views. This was an informative video on the new patch for Quan Chi! You get a like from me

Love the video bro, was looking for a quan video from the update dropped. Best video I've seen.
Sektor and Frost just got further elevated with him because of this, fantastic video
Sektor I get, but frost how?

How do you move the zone of waste forward?
You hold 3 after the move and use the d pad to move the portal

Sub-Zero needs Quan Chi treatment.
Yeah, Sub is in dire need of some buffs. Hopefully when Janet Cage comes out there’s a balance patch and Sub-Zero can get some love from NRS!
