World's BIGGEST Trash Fish...Catch Clean Cook (Jack Crevalle)

- Опубликовано: 24 мар 2021
- Adam from @MovinWeightFishing invited me offshore to look for cobia. We mainly wreck hopped with live baits and caught a variety of species like snapper, cobia, amerjacks and mahi mahi . One of the things we caught is a fish known as a jack crevalle. Often regarded as a Trash Fish, most people throw them back .I haven eaten smaller jack's, but never a big one. The bigger a jack gets the more red, oily and fishy its fillet becomes!

The first thing I learned in fishing was that many old timers really don't know half of what they claim to. Whenever I hear someone say, "You can't eat that fish" I take it as a challenge. Most of the time, the fish tastes just as good as any other.
Lmfao dumbest shit I’ve ever heard
Only reason they say that is because it takes to much effort to make it taste good so take it however tf u want
I got taught how to cook ,,thrash,, fish by some old timers.
This is what I learned with hard head catfish, I see no point in throwing it back out into the water considering it tastes decent
A Jack Crevalle is not a trash fish! To the hardcore fishermen they are a trophy fish. Once they get to that 35+ to 40lb range, you better be ready for a 45min back breaking battle!!!!!
Giant Bluefin Tuna were once known as "Horse Mackerel" and used for dog food. Lobsters were considered trash and used for bait. These are now among the most valuable seafoods in the world. So much for the term "Trash Fish"
I wish I could eat fish but I can’t swallow any kind of meat. I miss it very much and I got to say that those tacos looked delicious! I had a bad bout with throat cancer from tobacco use but I still love watching you guy’s catch and cook.
That sucks man I’m sorry to hear that
@@j_bongapple7480 thanks but it’s my fault for using tobacco so I’m paying for it.
@@larrycaudill1022 😆
Jack is really good sorry for the cancer
mexican reseta mexiccana for this jack you put slices of bacon to fry and when this crispy saves it you take out the fillets and clean them in boiling water you put all your fillets in the boiling water and when they change color you take them out immediately and in the pan where you put the bacon there all the meat of the fillets along with butter to your liking then you put pico de gallo tomato onion and cilantro stir everything and cover it and lower it to low heat and leave it for 30 to 45 minutes cooking while you prepare a guacamole with avocado, onion and cilantro You take the fish from the fire and put it in the center of the table along with toetillas and guacamole and each one makes their tacos and to drink corona beer ... I hope you enjoy this fish is how we eat it in Bahia de Banderas Mexico. ..... greetings to brook and to you
you can season it with salt and pepper only and enjoy
try to disrupt all the fish so that it stirred well here we call it machaca de toro
Whenever someone calls something a trash fish, they’re just calling themselves a trash cook 😂
Right because you can make anything taste good just got to know how
Yes, what I was thinking too
FACTS THO
I see people calling blueruners and bonito trash fish I'm like WTH i love eating those, i even say video of a guy fishing Humboldt squids and only taking the mantle and throwing away the rest saying its trash the tentacles are the best part for making pasta sauce and paella
@@gabrielbelouche3954 right
Huge fan all the way from Zambia 🇿🇲 Southern Africa
I’m convinced he can cook anything
Not that hard to cook jacks...
Pufferfish liver ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
@@Nickerian91 raise it in an aquarium absent the natural food of the puffer fish and the tetrodotoxin isn't present and you can eat the whole thing safely, or so I've heard (still wouldn't do it myself.)
I just want you guys to know how much we enjoy watching your videos. Thank you so much.
I’m literally the dude that said, I just ate 9
Tacos. That is my fam for sure 😂🤣
We would get along 💯🤣🤣
When I lived in South Carolina, they used to sell larger bonita at the market for like 50¢ per pound. I would buy them, and smoke the loins, and then season it and shred it. Then vacuum seal about 8oz portions and freeze it, and we'd use that in place of canned tuna for sandwiches and casseroles. It's really really good, Montreal steak seasoning was our favorite. I bet you could do something similar with Jack Crevalle, because the meat looked very similar to bonita, a very deep red with a almost steak like taste.
In Vallarta and Mazatlan jacks are cooked for.... you guessed it: fish tacos.
A couple of years ago I had an accident fishing for baby tarpon in Mexico. Long story short, the fish died, so next day we made tarpon empanadas. Quite good actually.
Finally a jack cook n eat video! Thanks for this!
Showing some Luv n Respect to Crevalle. Your brother should be crowned King Taco Jack.
Jacks are so underrated!
The reason I subscribed, this guy will make any fish into a meal. I can appreciate that.
Thank you Viktor for showing people that “trash fish” are good eating too!! I thought bonitos were trash until on a fishing trip one day, they showed us how to properly cook them and now I don’t mind getting some nice bonito
I thought the pieces of fish looked like miniature strip steaks. The fact that the big guy ate nine tacos, Speaks to how good it was!!👍 Viktor, You're a trendsetter!😂
Nobody gonna talk about how the cloud in the top right at 2:12 looks like a cowboy hat
In Hawaii people target jacks, I actually love eating them. 👌🏼🤙🏼
You know what they say ...one mans trash 🗑 is another mans bomb ass dinner 🌮🌮
brookies brother said it best, ""I just ate 9 tacos". the best complement a chef can receive is 9 empty plates from the same person. keep on rockin it vic and you too brookie.
FIRST!! #1 subscriber!!
I think you might have had some insider info.
Brook is awesome.🐟
@@TheClayCoKid not possible!! lol 😉
Still not even first. Lol.
Haha brook 😂
When I was vacationing in Puerto Vallarta, my kids and I hired a fishing charter. We caught 11 jack cravalles, 9 of which went to orphanages in the area. I took mine home to cook up but didn't care for the blood taste of the flesh. I since learned that the tail and gills should be removed so they can 'bleed out', thus making more pleasant meal.
no trash fish, only trash chefs
The hell with the fishing part, victor can cook !!!!
Jack's make great smoked fish dip mmm good
I can't believe people don't eat it more. I love it, especially the small ones
I agree with the comment there's no such thing as a trashy fish there's just people that don't know how to prepare it properly for its own character each fish is unique some lend themselves to other recipes better than others that's all I ate jack crevalle on a regular basis granted they're mostly three Pounders but my children and I enjoy them quite thoroughly just grilled I really enjoy your videos keep up the good work you're cooking segment is always very enjoyable and informative thank you
Ayyyyy! Vik my man! So amazing! "No trash fish only trash cooks" as you say!
"There's no such thing as Trash Fish there's only trash Cooks" _Tupac 96
I totally agree!!if u just know how to cook that kind of fish properly it could be a delicacy.. Here in our country, a fish that big could be sell like a thousand pesos or more, its like 20USD or even more than that...
Totally agree. People just tend the throw away fish that they don’t know how to properly cook. Not all fish can just be sautéed on the stove with seasonings. Plus a lot of people don’t know how to properly take care of the fish after they catch them and what to cut out of the fillets.
@@miahjay greetings from Trinidad. I eating all fish.
The only fish I would consider trash fish are ones you can’t really get any meat off of without more effort than it’s worth
@@shivamaraj7055 greetings, can’t wait to visit on day!!
a fight with a big jack crevalle is way better than any food, ever.
I've cooked jack crevalle myself and as long as you clean out the blood line, they are really good
Kudos for your adventurous spirit and palate. Keep em coming!
Love your comment Brook, "No trash fish only trash cooks"
lol the go pro @ 4:33
jacks make great fajitas the meat is like flank steak . just fry it up with the onions, peppers ect .
Great video Vic and great recipe thanks for these amazing vides god bless you and your family
Mom's be looking like Vic if you keep feeding my husband this good food we're going to have a problem
No Fish is Trash Adam all living things have a purpose in life .
In Hawaii they eat those but toss the Amber jack away but it’s opposite in FL. So strange
The best way by far to ear jack, is to boil it first in water with salt (gets rid of the fishy flavour) and only after boiling you fry it...
8:29 lol
What a great video! I will be keeping a few jacks from now on! Great job!
Another best dinner with that best jack.. I like it so much also the way you cook looks delicious 😋 too...
Good fishing scenes but your cooking scenes are really great! You provide excellent descriptions of your recipes and cooking techniques.
Hey hey, easy on the Jersey stuff and there is nothing wrong with that little blue!!!!!...love the videos
joysee stuff
I had a friend who was a veteran fisherman and he would throw all blue runners back, said it was trash fish. I said to him i caught some and kept them, so let me cook you one right now. I cook the whole fish, seasoned it properly, cooked it in oil, brought it to him over the yard fence and let him try it. He was amazed and said the same, "do you know how many I have thrown back i could have eaten." So all fish can be eaten, just need to cook it properly.
A cook book would a game changer!
I just learned new cooking style thumps up.
I love those Jack sliced thin an deep fried then u make a marinade with peppers onions carrots sugar water boil it down pour it over the fish ....maaaaan!!! Jamaican style
You Rock Vic!! 💜💜💜💜
Ty so much for doing this video i been catching these non stop and now I will bring them home
Who has the ocean at their backyard talk about totally blessed🙋🏾♂️👀
Perfect gaff shot on that mahi.
Good show, some big fish. Great job with the JC. Processing is so important. I think I would like it more without all the green. Maybe with pieces of roasted red pepper? Thanks again.
Yessir another video from my favorite RUclipsr !!!!
Nice vid. I've thrown so many of them back. I'll give that version a try next time one hits the boat. Thanks for doing this one.
That meat looks phenomenal, post-prep.
I’ve been waiting for this one for a while!! Nice Fish BTW!!
i caught major trash fish in palm beach florida in january ..nice lil vacation
Outstanding! I absolutely love the fact that you cook and eat what many call trash fish! I do the same thing quite frequently! Sadly my main access is to freshwater fish but I make many "trash fish" from Suckets to carp to fallfish and get people, albeit reluctantly, to try these "trash fish" and I have not had a single person claim trash fish after trying them! Lol! So kudos for doing something far too many people won't do out of f fear or preconceived notions of what should and should not be eaten! Last time towards your neck of the woods I caught and ate sailfin and hardhead cats and when cleaned, prepared, and cooked properly they were actually phenomenal!
@@john5712 if ass at end it was prepared right. I do it one of two ways on the smoker. One it tastes almost like salmon the other like pulled pork. Lol.
I caught and cooked my first Blue Fish this past weekend and really enjoyed it! Just seasoned breading and pan fried it and it turned out great!
I love it. It’s how it’s prepared. Big ups Victory Victor
Victor your the only person that I know that could make any trash fish good
That backyard is my dream yard!! Every time I go down there I rent houses on the canals. Seriously perfect living. 🤙🏽 Also, Dude has been lifting weights! 💪🏽
It’s weird that Americans consider a Carangid / jack species trash fish. Their meat is appreciated almost everywhere else in the world
Hi guys very nice video i love how you have so much fun all together keep it up and greetings from Poland 😉
Looked good thank you for the great video
I had jack for the first time the other day. It was great! All in the preparation 🤙🏽
That's the absolute truth. Here in Barbados, you would want to eat your fingers after eating one
Very good the best Fish
When I bleed a jack I completely cut its head off... growing up poor changes your aspect on eating fish
People avoid the fish, not from the meat color, but the amount of parasites they have
@@cove1766 The parasites are cooked and non toxic, where i live people like fishy taste on fish especially fried or in fish soup.
@@gabrielbelouche3954
That’s what gets me, people having an issue with fish tasting like fish. No different than people finding deer/squirrel/etc too “gamey” tasting. The issue isn’t the animals, it’s a lifetime of eating farmed meat with no flavor.
how is being poor and cutting off the head a poor thing...wouldn't it be the opposite, where because you are poor you would save all parts of the fish to each..
Been waiting for this since Brooks video this morning
Great stuff Victor
In Hawaii we call them ulua.
Wow! many big fish
In Hawaii we turn that into Sashimi .
we ate a big jack like that to and it was. good
Jacks are good if u know how to clean and prepare them
I cooked a couple of these. I have blackened them and they are fantastic!
That was a nice dolphin
It's all about cleaning it right and cooking it right... 👍🏿👍🏿🎣
Another epic video 👌🍻
There is no trash fish only trash cooks... 😁😁
Jack crevalle or as we call it in Trinidad Cavalli and blue fish aka acho are great eating fish. You just have to know how to cook it
Great vid! YUM! I do like sweet relish and mayo.
Surprisingly Victor up here in Tampa bay those butterfish we call "pumpkin seeds" work great for tarpon around the bridges without clipping fins they smash them sometimes they will pass up a threadfin for one. Great video!
Very interesting!
Adam is hilarious lol
Keep the content coming
I’m really enjoying your videos man. I checked out moving weight as well and you guys both have fun content.

HAHAHAHA! Great fun boyz~!
Im gonna have to try it.
Awesome sauce ! Vic you have made my very short bucket list lol . your video style and kitchen recipes are the bomb . sure hope to try some of the "trash fish" most turn up their nose at and raise some eyebrows . l have fished from Canada to Curacao lots in FLA east and west coast charters with plenty of tales of tails . stay hooked , l am .
Lol while everyone here in Hawaii got no problem eating that lmfao 🤣😂 btw when making fish cakes try adding ground pork to it
Jack Cavalle is a Different fish than the omilu (bluefin trevally) and Ulua (giant trevally) here in hawaii.
Looks very similar - but the meat of the hawaii Jacks is lighter color, and a little more mild.
I've eaten Jack Cavalle in mexico - i like it - but then again i like "robust" flavored fish.
(I'd grill that buefish up in a second... had some grilled bluefish in NY a few years back... it was good.)
hell yeah brother
Victor got into some good supplements. Must be pre shark season prep
