    I bought an 1835M cab tractor in September of 21. I have 135 hours on it so far. I use it for feeding big bales both 1000# round bales and 1200# big square bales. I have fluid filled tires and it has no problems handling the bales. We used to be a full operational farm and ranch. I still have 10 Masseys from 42 hp to 80 hp. I am amazed at this tractor. It is very quick for handling bales and pushing snow. This is my first cab tractor, and I don't think I can ever go back to an open station. This tractor has renewed my love of farming. I have spent about 30,000 hours on a tractor in my life. This is not just a hobby tractor, this is a small farm capable tractor. This morning my oldest son and I were unloading the load of hay from the trailer. It was only single high as we are a local haul. I had all of my side done and half of my sons side. He was on the 80 HP tractor, with a standard transmission. I was able to unload 3 bales to his 1 bale.

      Great Information...You're exactly correct these tractors may be smaller in size but that one of the Biggest Benefits. More nimble and maneuverable than big tractors.

    Thanks for the great review Doug, outstanding as usual! I really love my 1740M eHydro, but I believe if I was ever going to upgrade, I would wait for the 2850M or 2855M. It seems like with the new engine on the 1800 series in comparison to the 1700 series (Shibaura), you lose a little horsepower both at the engine and PTO, that's a little disappointing, but hopefully as the manufacturer refines and continues to engineer the engine they will gain that back. The one thing that I think Massey Ferguson should do, particularly with the premium series compact tractor, is go ahead and put the third function on, a set of remotes, and the soft drive for that matter. In my opinion, when a consumer is buying a premium tractor, in most cases, they are willing to pay a little more for factory installed options rather than after the fact which has a tendency to cost even more.

    • @VahrenbergImplement
      @VahrenbergImplement  4 года назад +2

      I agree with the thought on the additional options but not everyone wants those added features which will raise the price of the tractor. I personally like them as options and customer could customize or dealer install to customer needs. We can order with a set of dealer installed remotes we've only added remotes to one tractor so understand why they don't add them, most customer don't use them but be cool to have to the option to have factory installed remote option. As you well know the compact tractor business is very price sensitive and adding too many options might price potential customers out of the market. Maybe we could have two version like the cab models a standard and deluxe version??? That is an idea. I will share some of these to Massey Ferguson. Good Stuff! THanks for the comments!

    You know what is really bad, I'm 61yrs, I remember our massey Ferguson back in my school days, i was already like 10yrs old, we had a massey Ferguson 35, it had a 2 piece frame, late 60s,early 70s,and I think it was already about 10yrs old, and I have been watching RUclips varhanberg tractors and, I miss my tractor bad, that tractor would be 60,70 yrs old or older by now, I've discovered a new possible money system for income, who knows, I might find some money in the future, so I can buy my new loyal best friend and a new member to my family, and having a new tractor or new toy ,is all a state of mind, the emotional price we all put on our equipment, just my opinion, you can't put the lottery on that, it's like the work horse of the family, respect it like a new born baby, monthly, weekly, daily, hourly maintenance, 24/7 ,just like raising a family , just remember, the most important thing in life, GOD IS ON THE THRONE, GOD IS IN CONTROL, GOD HAS THE FINAL SAY, GOD IS ALWAYS TALKING TO US,God is always by our side, God will decide when you need what ever you need something, wayneeden95@gmail.com

    Well, Hello Duog, I learned afterwards if you write your comment text over 3 comments, the way this RUclips channel stuff is setup, they won't accept 4 message comments, so I'm reentering my last big text comment, yesterday I was researching and browsing different setups about "" lawnmowers,,,,,well considering all the details, but everything still depends a whole hell of a lot on good maintenance, anything can last a lot of years, well, it finally came to me, and I finally figured it out, that even though the arrangement of massey Ferguson has the American body style, the main body style and along with the Japanese motor from agco, I'm not crazy about Japanese motors, but that's mostly besides the point, for as much as I have watched your videos channel, and why I am sold on massey Ferguson, even though it has a Japanese motors, well here's the biggest reason, the hp motors go well above 30hp, and the other reason is, I really like the arrangement of the body style design, I wouldn't always need the front end loader, I wouldn't always have my front end loader on it all the time, but for the idea plus I get a midmount belly mower on your 1700, 1800 series, I'm just in the mood for a bigger class of muscle, and a super wide 72" 6ft path ,,that's got me hooked like pulling in a big fish, and for any reason I don't find reasonable customer service up here in Indiana, I will not hesitate to try and make the attempt to buy one off of you, people have been known to do crazier things, you know how it goes,,everyone is different, what I did was, I was giving you a big plug on another lawnmower video channel, I know money has a lot to say in all these matters,,but everyone has to do what ever they can, I like the massey Ferguson body style,,and that's close enough for me, sometimes engineering will make the total difference, and now suddenly I have had the weirdest view point of the tractor in general, GOD created man , then man created the tractor, now even though I have said that I think, massey Ferguson rides like a Cadillac and is built like a tank, I'm also gonna put another humours phrase on the massey Ferguson is GOD'S WORK HORSE , I hope that idea has a nice ring to it, it's a member of the family keep the maintenance up, gotta them in good health as well, I will shop up here in Indiana for what ever it's worth, time will tell, later, wayneeden95@gmail.com

    Any word on an update for the aging 1526 like integrated loader valve, better seating etc?

    • @VahrenbergImplement
      @VahrenbergImplement  4 года назад

      I keep asking. 1526 is an awesome model. My Family actually personally owns one we take care of our property with. I've requested some up dates to that model. Biggest problem is there is only one model in that series and might make the costs or increase in price and make that model uncompetitive priced. Hate to lose the price point of the 1526. But maybe they can find a way to update in the future.

    I shopped tractors for months in early 2019. The lack of a DPF was a MAJOR contributing factor in my decision to buy a 1740M. I'm not sure I would make the same decision now with the 1800M series.

    • @VahrenbergImplement
      @VahrenbergImplement  4 года назад

      Well Stage/Tier 5 Emissions is coming and who knows what every manufacturer is going to have to do to meet the new more stringent regulations. Massey Ferguson with the ISEKI engine is already there. Every engine has emissions components, EGR, DOC, DPF or DEF Systems to meet the current Tier 4 and will be even more for tier 5. The user control and longer time between regens is much simpler system and less components than prior models. 50 Hours under normal conditions for most customers is a one or twice a year regen. And if you let it do it there is no interruption of work with the Massey Ferguson System. Not all regeneration systems are the same.

      In Europe they are already building Tier/Stage 5 Tractors. The 4700M & 5700M are Stage 5 Compliant Models. Look at the International Website for Massey Ferguson: int.masseyferguson.com/tractors.aspx

    How does the seat safety switch operate? Does it prevent starting or from just moving?

    • @VahrenbergImplement
      @VahrenbergImplement  3 года назад +2

      It Prevents Starting if not in the seat and Range Shift Lever and PTO not in Neutral. If you come out of the seat while moving it will stop the Engine. The Tractor can be started and used as stationary power if conditions are met: Range Lever In Neutral, Parking Brake Set and using the rear fender PTO Control Push and hold PTO Switch for 5 Seconds and PTO will operate without Operator in the Seat.

    Is there anything different under the hood between the 1835m and 1840m? Cooling capacity, turbo, etc? Or is it just tuned electronically for a few more HP?

    • @VahrenbergImplement
      @VahrenbergImplement  3 года назад

      I have not looked at every component but both engines are Direct Injection, Turbocharged and Intercooled, Electronic Engine Controlled. Most likely Fuel Flow Settings and Electronic Tuning is how manufacturers adjust engines to meet different ranges. With those higher settings come adjustment to the cooling package. I can tell you DO Not Chip or Change Engine Control Module that is Huge Fine from EPA and immediately Voids Any Warranty.

      1735M was good but I'm really excited to get back the ISEKI Engine. Since Perkins division of Caterpillar bought Shibaura support has gone south. The Regeneration on this tractor is much improved and more user control is going to be much better than other systems and 50 hours it's not going to be much of deal. Just keep on driving and let it do it's thing you'll never notice if you don't watch the lights.

    • @VahrenbergImplement

  • @pc5569
    @pc5569 4 года назад +2

    So where is all the PTO power being eaten up? 1840 has less than 30hp at the PTO??

    • @VahrenbergImplement
      @VahrenbergImplement  4 года назад

      Roughly 2 PTO HP of that is Transmission Type. Power Shuttle is 30 PTO HP and eHydro is 27.9 PTO HP. Water Pump, Alternator, Air Conditioner Compressor on Cab Models, all take away Engine Horsepower. Plus Power Steering, Hydraulics all use Horsepower to to create their job. The more added features the more Power Loss from the Engine to PTO HP.

    • @pc5569
      @pc5569 4 года назад

      Understand. The power ratings don't specify which standard it is rated against, SAE J1995 or J1349. I would find it odd that they would use J1995 (gross up) since they are the OEM and are not sending an engine to someone else to assemble in a different tractor configurations. Maybe tell Massey to list the power standard being used in their brochures.

    • @heavymetalmechanicX

      It's a shame they couldn't keep the Shibaura. They took a major step backwards with the Iseki and its DPF.

    • @VahrenbergImplement
      @VahrenbergImplement  4 года назад

      On the Public Side it may look like that but on the Dealer Side it's a Huge Step Forward. Shibaura support has been very lacking. Their diagnostic tool is not very helpful. ISEKI is ready for Stage/Tier 5 who knows what or if Shibauara or other manufacturers are going to have to do to meet even more stringent Tier5 Regualations. Massey Ferguson is already there.

    • @heavymetalmechanicX
      @heavymetalmechanicX 4 года назад +1

      U.S. Tier 5 regulations haven't even been determined by the EPA yet. So how can they be ready for it? European Stage 5 is roughly equivalent to U.S. Tier 4 Final. This seems more like a move to make their machines more marketable globally than being ahead of the competition in the U.S.

    • @VahrenbergImplement
      @VahrenbergImplement  4 года назад

      Massey Ferguson is a Global Company sold in 190 different countries. They meet Stage 5 Regulations and I know in tractors the current European Tractors have more stringent regulations than the current North American Products. Right now there are some countries still at Tier 2 some at Tier 3 and most are Tier 4 and Europe has gone to Stage 5.

    I looked at one of these today, a very nice machine. The only thing I am not too sold on is the Tier 5, and the sticker that says "Ultra Low Sulfur Fuel Only" or whatever. That means the only fuel I will be able to find for this is limited and more expensive....

    • @VahrenbergImplement
      @VahrenbergImplement  Год назад +1

      Ultra Low Sulfur Fuel is the ONLY Diesel Fuel available in USA since 2006. You can't buy anything but it in the United States. Tier 5 is the coming emission standards for all tractors have to meet. Instead of having two version why not just meet the emission requirements then you don't have to have two different variations or serial number break. Most customers don't remember their serial number when getting parts. This makes it simple they all the same.

      Ag Diesel is the Same now. Only Difference is Off-Road Diesel is Dyed Red because the retailer does not collect Road Fuel Taxes. Same stuff just Red Dye for Road Tax Exempt. It's same Ultra Low Sulfur Fuel that has been used since 2014. Federal Mandate for use of ULSD. • @VahrenbergImplement
      @VahrenbergImplement  4 года назад +1

      Every Tractor or for that matter vehicles with engines lose Horsepower from Engine HP. Engine HP is bare engine on test stand rated. Start adding items like water pump, alternators, air conditioning, hydraulic systems, transmission efficiency etc all require horsepower to operate. PTO horsepower is the horsepower available to run rear mounted implements like rotary cutters, tillers etc that are run off the PTO. Mid Mount PTO use horsepower too.

      Depends on the PTO Horsepower Requirements of the Mower. We sell RhinoAG and they have different capacity mowers that require from 25 PTO HP to 45 PTO HP based on the diameter of material they can cut. 1835M can hand a TW16 6' Cut Mower with 1" diameter cutting capacity.

    hope I am doing right, I just yesterday agreed to buy a 1835E, they have to order a backhoe for it. so approx 2 weeks to get, whats difference between the E & M?
    all my life I have survived with 4 different 8N tractors, over 35 years, of owning 8N tractors only have 2, but finally at a point where I want a nice tractor, & MF has always been one of my favorites, I have worked on & used many older MF, Massey Harris, Ferguson, tractors, always stayed with the 8N.s just because I knew them, but I need something with a little more oomph, & I am too tired to try to find another N to get a front end loader, and backhoe then build a no sleeve engine for max power of 30-32hp, NAW, its time to have something NICE! I have kept pieced together junk all my life.
    I need to do some harder work at both my farms, plus my cousins, and an Uncle that couldnt take care of due to his age & let it get out of control.

      @Zach Harmon. The Serial Number for the Tractor states on all the 1800M & 2800M Ihave in stock Made in Japan. I think you may be looking at the Loader ID Plate. Those can be sourced from PRC. ALO Quicke manufacturers the loaders for Massey Ferguson and has Manufacturing Facilities all around the world, because they are the Worlds Largest Loader Manufacturer. Check the Tractor Serial Number Plate right under the front of the seat. That is the Tractor ID Plate.

    • @VahrenbergImplement
      @VahrenbergImplement  4 года назад

      It's Stage 5 Compliant - others are going to probably have to do the same and the Normal DPF Cycle is estimated at 50 Hours. Passive Cleaning can happen with normal operation. Regen is only needed when filter is at 80% capacity and the best thing is to keep on working and let it do it's thing. But we are back to a Premium ISEKI Engine and that is very good and to have manufacturer support.
