Table to Table Celebrates 25 Years of Rescuing Food, Reducing Waste, & Relieving Hunger

  • Rescuing Food. Reducing Waste. Relieving Hunger. That is what we have done every day for 25 years. This video showcases the difference we make in the lives of northern New Jerseyans, families, and veterans, by rescuing nutritious, healthy food from hundreds of food donors every day.
    "All we were trying to do was get food from donors to recipients and raise enough money every single day to keep the doors open and here we are with a very simple, good idea that has had such an impact," said Table to Table Founder Claire Insalata Poulos.
    "There have been times where we've needed a meal and if this resource wasn't available, we probably wouldn't eat," said Sunny, a food recipient who receives prepared meals made with food Table to Table provides to one of our recipient partners.
    Forty percent of the United States’ food goes uneaten-that’s more than 220 pounds per person! By rescuing the excess food, we can provide countless meals for hungry children and families while preserving our environment. After all, the uneaten food ends up rotting in landfills, accounting for 16% of U.S. methane emissions.
    Each year Table to Table operations grew so that today we have a fleet of refrigerated trucks picking up fresh food from generous donors and delivering it to our community partners. To date, we have delivered enough food to provide for more than 311,228,930 meals and prevented 109,122 tons of food from ending up in landfills.
