Thanks. I need to do this on my '18 Road King in the next week to replace the tire. This helped a lot and I may record my install to pay it forward. I think I'm going with Commander III
Happy to help. Hope it makes it easier for you. I have the Michelin Commander 3 on my bike now and did a 5200 mile trip in August. (I posted videos of the trip) Awesome tires. Wet and dry roads.
Excellent video you. This is the best DIY rear wheel out here so far. I have Rhinharts also, this is a much easier job without canister removal and install.
Top tip, many motorcycle lifts have a removable panel in the rear deck to help remove the wheel assembly easier. In this video I believe his had this panel, you can see it in orange.
That way is very helpful the very first touring bike I did was a 12 road King and we were fighting with the thing I didn't think to take off the suspension Great video
Just came across your video on my feed. Great job! Love your side arm. Caulked and ready to roll. I’m in Canada. Unfortunately, we can’t carry here. :(
video may have been better if you shown the rubber insert back in, the belt tensioning tool (to help others, who dont have the feel of what is in within specs) besides that thanks for sharing, it made me appreciate having someone sharing how they do it...
Not sure why I didn’t show installing the rear wheel rubber piece. I do in my other videos. If you like to see that. Watch one of my other Road Glide, Street Glide or Road King. As for the belt tension tool. I don’t where I put it. lol
Hell yeah Side are mechanical service.. after watch this I decided to just do it myself and save 60 bucks ty bro for the vid.. ya made it easy and with the gun ya made it safe lol.. good stuff ty
Great video. Only thing i do different is ,I use blue lock tight on everything. The anticize was a good touch . But thread lock on the axle nut threads will keep it there. Over all good video.
Thanks. I’ve done good amount of this bikes. From watching others on RUclips and from doing. I think I’ve come up with a pretty good system. I’m averaging 30-40 minutes from start to finish just changing the rear tire on Harley touring bikes.
Not trying to be a clown, serious question, is the wheel straight? I thought the cam adjusters should be an even amount side to side but it didn't look like they were? Really like the idea of dropping the swing arm by unbolting the shocks...doing that one for sure 👍
I installed the Michelin Commander 2 in the video. Got over 10k miles before putting on the Commander 3 but the 2’s looked like they had another 10k left.
I’d say somewhat similar but exactly. I do have a video on a softail and a heritage softail. Check them out and see if they are a little closer to what you ride. Thanks Cliff.
I use a Snap-on 3/8 drive 5-100 ft-lb. If you have a 2019 and older. That range should works for just about everything. If you have a 2020 or newer. You'll need one that goes to 150 ft lb. They increased the re-axle torque to 135-145 ft lb. As far as a wrench. Any name brand would be go for accurate torques. I'd stay away from the Harbor.
Sorry for the late reply. Thought I already did. The cam washers both adjust the belt and keep the wheel straight with the bike. When you turn the axle, it will turn both washers at the same time.
I carry most of the time. Like how people carry phone, wallet, keys. I’m glad I do carry most of the time. Unfortunately there was a large lose dog trying to get a group of small kids in front of my house while I was in the garage. Came outside to see what was going on. Then the dog came at me. Got me pinned up to my garage door and had to put it down. Now that’s the only time I had to actually use it but have needed it a few times before. There’s crazy people out there. Had a guy try getting in my car at the light. Wouldn’t stop till he saw that he had a gun pointing at him.
From what I can tell it more in likely won't fit. Your bike comes w/ a MU85-16 or 140/90-16. My bike has a 180/55-18 and the more common size is 180/65-16. That's a 40mm or about 1.5 inches wider tire. You would need a wider swing arm and rear fender. Possibly more to make it fit.
Outstanding job..... You explain better than the service manual.
I took apart my buddies 2019 Road King special and this vid was step by step instructions. Go it out in no time 🤙
Brilliant point PBD! Learning how to lose can set you up for victory
I just want to thank you I literally use your videos every tire replacement 💯

Pete Larrier Thanks. That’s a big reason for me making these videos.

Thanks for the heads up on this task. Good descriptions, thanks again.
Welcome and hope it helps. Check out some of my other videos of RG and SG bikes for a different video angle. Ride safe.
Great Video! I'm doing my 2nd rear tire install this evening.
Kerrian Chambers Thanks. Hope this video helped.

Thanks, that's why I'm making these videos.
@@cliffcares6455 I put the rear abs censor on then the caliper does the spacer go between the caliber and the swing arm?
quakemater What do you ride?
You forgot to include that pistol in the "required tools". Just kidding. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
lol. Everyone has a set of tools they like to use.
Where to find torque specs

Makes it look like a piece of cake, which it actually is !!! Thanks great job!!!
After doing it so many times. I got it down to about 30 minutes. Removing the wheel. Changing the tire and installing the wheel.
Thanks.Very clear, you make it look easy!

Wow. Great video!!! Thanks man!!!
Great job you make it look easy
Your video was amazing just wanna say thanks
Does that 45 come in handy for wheel changes?
Thank you for the tip.
Great work, Cliff. I see you practice your 2nd amendment as well.
Thanks for the tutorial. I can do this now.
When you disconnect bottom shock bolt is the bike jacked up when doing that??
Good video. Changing mine today.
Thanks. Ride safe.
Exelent video , THANK YOU!!!
Thanks. Ride safe.
Good video. Easy to understand. Thanks!
Welcome and thanks for watching.
thanks for the info,very helpful
Bruce Sorensen Welcome.
Huge thanx very helpful 👍🏽😎
Can you tell me what is the torque? everything please
Does the abs sensor go closest to the swingarm on the outside ? Or inside closest to the wheel ?
Very nice details. Thank you

merci , bon travail
Which scissor jack do you have? It looks like it bolts to the lift. Mine doesn’t give much confidence when using it on my lift. It slides around a bit
yep would be nice to know???
Thank you Well done!
Nice job! Glad to see you had Roscoe with you.
How many miles out of that tire?
I got over 10k miles. Then I put on the Commander 3 tires. Before changing them. They looked like I could get another 10k out of them.
Thanks for the video... what brand tire are you running? And what kind of mileage are you getting out of a tire ?
I installed the Michelin Commander 2 in the video. Got over 10k miles before putting on the Commander 3 but the 2’s looked like they had another 10k left.
Is this tire removal the same for a newer soft tail model...👍
I’d say somewhat similar but exactly. I do have a video on a softail and a heritage softail. Check them out and see if they are a little closer to what you ride. Thanks Cliff.
Nice video...what kind of tire you go with? looks like commander II....thx
Thanks. Yes the Michelin Commander II but then later upgraded to the 3s.
Thank you...
Brent Rawson Thanks
What torque wrench do you recommend and what size and capacity? Thanks!!!

Great video but I didn’t get do the cam lobes for the belt need setting both sides? Good luck with the channel 👍

Excellent vid - Helpful - Thanks
Thought - No requirement for any lock tight?
Nope. As long as you torque everything to spec.
@@cliffcares6455 No worries - Cheers.
awesome vid. The only remark is that you didn't show in details how to tighten the belt for those who do it first time.
Thanks
You're welcome. Ride safe.
Good video
Glad you enjoyed
Thanks for the video. Excellent camera placement and explanation. Now I feel confident to go out a ruin my bike. Just kidding. Looks easy enough!!
Why do you keep the hammer on your pistol cocked?
Good shit and nice 1911
Thank you for your video, only wondering why do you caring loaded gun in your garage...don't take it personally

Hi, what size socket for the cone/axel nut ? Did you say 36mm? Or is it 33mm?
36mm
@@cliffcares6455 would that be the same size for a 2015 ultra limited low? 36mm?
Yes. It should be the same process of removing the wheel as the Road Glide in this video.
How tall does your jack lift the bike?
Little over a foot.
Thanks cliff, saved quite a bit of money. Ride save.! Greetings from fucking Germany.!
Should have set your lift up so you could use the drop out panel ;-))) gd. job Peace;-)
Thanks for wayching. I’ve tried using it but I find it’s easier for me to slide the tire out.
GOD BLESS TEXAS!!!
i guess it is kind of randomly asking but do anybody know a good site to watch new tv shows online?
@Huxley Aydin i use Flixzone. You can find it on google =)
@Damon Ahmed yea, I have been using Flixzone for months myself :D
@Damon Ahmed yup, I've been watching on FlixZone for years myself :)
@Damon Ahmed Thank you, I signed up and it seems like a nice service =) Appreciate it !
Nice 45
Hey bro, I have a 08 SG, w/ the skinny rear tire. Is it possible to swap to this ? I already have the front 19"

Stay strapped or get clapped.
Gun safety should always be #1 priority! The hammer is fully cocked on your sidearm my friend….
I know. It’s a 1911. That’s how you’re suppose to carry them.
