An FYI, until I retired a couple of years back, I did worked for the manufacturer of the Comfort Pro AUP, I did the training for Carrier dealers and I also wrote the installation manuals as well as the diagnostic manuals. But I've been retired a few years now, the old brain is turning to mush,,,,,, but I do still know a few of the tricks! When Carrier bought the APU business, I had to take down all my installation and diagnostic videos due to branding issues, a shame, I put a lot of work into them.
At 7 minutes, I would recommend using 3 ports for the venting. Reason for that is to have sufficient airflow for the system to operate properly. One low, a medium, and high. The high is important for AC, cold air falls, you want to get it as high as possible to have equal cooling through out the bunk. And the low vent is important for heating as hot air will rise, and depending on the area of operation, might want is warm around the feet for those cold nights in the North Eastern USA! Just wanted to share a few points for others that might do their own installations.
Right on man! Glad to see you got that APU installed going to make life on the road just that that much more comfortable. Hope you had a good day at golf aa well.
I agree with you about the installation due it yourself and it gets done right. The bracket that you made for the back of the cab good idea , I bet the dealer would not have done that.
Warranties are a massive waste of time on stuff worth less than 20 grand It's more of a headache dealing with the paperwork and waiting for some dolts approval. Solid work man
Now you added APU do you need to reweight your truck and trailer? And check with your state about APU some states give you leeway on your weight enjoy your videos. Be safe on your travels
One thing I noticed at about the 5 minute mark, and I don't know if you changed it further in, if you cut back on the exhaust pipe, and cut it at about 45 degrees, sloping down, the exhaust noise will be a little less.
It’s looking awesome, even you can’t see the APU where is it which is really like it , but how much would it cost to install it to Volvo 860 I know it’s easy to install them into Freightliner? 🤔 Also How much the capacity of the right hand tank ?
I don't know much about these new trucks with the DEF filters. But doesn't that filter on the passenger side of the truck under the steps beside the gen., put off a lot of heat? I'd ask to make sure the heat doesn't hurt the gen.
The exhaust is in its own box with heat shields there was a sticker on the side of it that has not burned off after 18 k miles so I am going with all is good
Ok I about fell apart Seeing YOUR 2020 Torn A Part Like that LOL!! But Great Job I Understand Why You Did It Just curious how much did you Save Doing it Your Self. Keep Safe. 🚧🚧🍵🍵🔧🔧📢🚛
There should have been a template in the kit that shows the location of reach hole for mounting the CCU and the required clearance around it. Installation manuals were available online at one time, don't know what happened to them. The diagnostic manual was available for a charge through Carrier as well, I expect that there would have been a charge for it as I didn't write it for free!
Installing one in my 2019 VNL760 looks like the same place as yours due to lack of room. Have you had any issues with the Carrier? Also with the power unit behind your fixed fairing can you check the oil and fluids by dropping the passenger step fairing? Volvo sure does not make it easy. LOL
I’m buying an 860 without the APU, could you tell me if the APU you installed does a good job cooling the top bunk? I run a Ken 680 now with a Thermo King APU and the top bunk feels like a furnace when it’s above 80 degrees.
If the ducting was ran to blow out the factory vents you wouldn't have that problem, you would cool both upper and lower bunk.. Get you some extra duct hose and tie into your factory vents...
@@provostmotorsportstrucking2298 well, if you're idling 12 hours a day, burning a gallon an hour, and cost of fuel is $3/gal it'd pay for itself in less than a year of ownership. Not counting up keep and maintenance. And of course, if my math is correct.

The older ones are quite compaired to the new ones. Evolution is the loud
The best place to get one installed is Kenworth. Only 800 labor and the unit starts around 7,000.
Always wondered what exactly makes up an APU and how the pieces go together, now I know. Thanks for sharing.

Looked so easy. I'd like to have seen behind the scenes video of that awesome install. 😀😀😀😀👍👍👍👍
That is a Wonderful looking Job, better than the dealership install I'am sure............Happy Trails

it was not the dealer he picked it up from it was the Janitor LOL.
Unnecessary
Super cool install.
Super cool 👍👍 would like to see underneath the fairings

I know this was 2 years ago and I do like your video. I was wondering how to hook up the water hoses for the little radiator on the generator?
Tap into the rear heater core lines. Make sure you have the flow right

Wow lots of work that evaporator unit is huge compared to themoking

Hello
I also ordered 860 now
What brand is the model number for?
How much did it cost you ?
Good Job!!
With the generator motor under the cab, when it runs have you considered the noise will rise up into the sleeper?
It is not bad...same as the engine running
Microwave oven?
Thanks 🎉
Excellent.
Beautiful install .Do you own Provost Motorsports?
I do...
How big are your fuel tanks ? And what is your wheel base? looks like 233 .
233. Twin 150’s
So how has the apu handling the heat being so close to the after treatment system?
No problems
Ok I about fell apart Seeing YOUR 2020 Torn A Part Like that LOL!!

Saved 3,000$$
Could you provide a bracket measurement, please, I would like to install in mine 860 the same stuff as yours ;-)
Why didn’t they install that at the factory when building the truck
Truck cost🎉
How much would cost to install thermoking APU just to install only?
No idea. Bet it is not cheap why I installed it myself
Will you be going on the road soon?
Monday 😀
@@provostmotorsportstrucking2298 Looking forward to the videos with the new apu safe trip

There is it comes in with the kit. It's in an orange envelope with warranty and other papers
Not the best spot to install the apu. It's better to install closer to the back less noise and vibration more comfortable for for the driver.
Can you buy the generator separately?
Yes
Ohhhh yeahhhh! First!
👍😉

i know I am quite off topic but does anyone know of a good place to stream new series online ?
@Joseph Zayd Try FlixZone. You can find it by googling :)
@Alfredo Westley Definitely, I have been using flixzone for since march myself :D
@Alfredo Westley thank you, I signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) I really appreciate it !!
@Joseph Zayd No problem =)
👍👍👍👏👏👏
Hello is there anybody how could install me inverter generator with ic in my truck

I does fine.....I have a small 12 volt fan at the rear of the bunk blowing the cool air up front...that helped a lot

How much cost you ?
?
What's the cost of one of these units?
7500 not installed

Hello send price with installation if you can because I need to get one thanks
I have the same layout, but I want a apu
Ima lease driver is it worth a apu or just use the idle smart inhale in it?
