That was so bad it was quite funny. That was nowhere near the bloody apple! Did they really think the Eurovision audience would fall for that, especially as the "replay" footage is so obviously from a rehearsal?
I know, right? At the time, though, there was no internet, so it seemed highly unlikely that this footage would survive for scrutiny. So dishonest to stick the arrow into the apple and pretend it didn't miss.
I was just telling my son about the near-miss of this Eurovision act (with the blatant hand-stabbing of the apple after he took it down), so I was glad to be able to find it on RUclips. I didn't remember their "action replay" footage, though. Does the commentary claim that it's a replay of the live act? Also: the outfits!
It's Jacob Dahlin commenting. A famous swedish tv-host that died of AIDS in the early 90's. I remember this crossbow act most of all interval acts ever in the Eurovision. And I have seen every Eurovision since 1984. Thanks for the clip.
Thanks for uploading this! I was just trying to get to sleep (it’s nearly 2am here) and I was thinking about interval acts at Eurovision and remembered how bad this was lmao.
Yes, I also think this was very impressive, and a unique interval act, too. The commentator is most definitely Swedish; I'm kinda surprised you thought that was German (in any case, it wouldn't be weird because of the ORF logo - that IS the Austrian television, after all).
Thanks for the info. I'm sad to hear about Jacob, I really enjoyed his commentary that year. I thought it was enjoyable, slightly witty and charming. Everything a good commentary should have, in my opinion - along with ceasing to talk about 5 seconds before a song started!
It occurred to me just now that with Switzerland being seriously talked about as a potential winner this year, we could have the reprise if he's still going 😄
The explanation is that the arrow comes really from the back of the apple e g backwards like in this RUclips video /watch?v=iSWzKn2jlSA That's why they have a thick wall behind the apple. The slow down motion replay is prepared and faked beforehand.
Now you're all confusing me. It definitely sounds like Swedish or some hurdy-gurdy language to me. But then what's he doing under the ORF logo? But I have to say as far as interval acts go give pretty girls in green velvet dresses & men in tight black trousers furiously tapping on their toes any day.

@@bernardkelly8957 Wogan made clear it was from a rehearsal as far as I remember
It's a travesty we didn't get Graham Norton commentating on this

All the more reason why this is exciting and a challenge for him.
I cant find any info about him, where is he now?

It is the Swedish commentary, but the picture is from the ORF broadcast. I have my sources.
Arent I just jealous of your sources!

?????????????
Stole the act from Hans Moretti and at the end he did not hit the apple, but stuck the arrow through - cheating!
