    Ganzos are pretty high quality especially their D2. Some knives resemble other brands but they put their mark on every one of their blades. They're not trying to trick anyone. If they got some better designers on staff they would be killing it.

    Clone? A $20 knife clearly marked as Chinese that resembles a $200 item that few can afford. The “knife community” needs to to get their collective heads out. The markets are so totally different that there is no harm. No harm...no foul. Period. These have tested multiple times as totally authentic D2 with Rockwell testing via multiple independent labs as 60 - 62. This new-ish Ganzo designed D2 series is epic. This one is excellent. I own the 31, 41 & 51.

    Another RUclips person had his Ganzo sent out for testing. He sent in for knives in this series. Rockwell hardness was north of 60. The way I see it, this company is knocking it out of the park with their heat treat.

    Great review. 👍🗡I got one of those FH41's yesterday in grey/blue & I love it. Great feeling in the hand & I love the blade shape. I can't stop flicking it. Sometimes the flipper tab snags on the withdrawal from a pocket. It really feels like a knife costing 100 bucks or more. It's my favorite Ganzo.

      Not to resurrect a dead thread so to speak, but I'd hate to buy a Benchmade bugout for example (some love it some claim it feels cheap and isn't worth it) and be stuck eating the cost of the difference in resale. A ganzo clone would let me get my hands on something that is broadly the same, feel it out and see if the ergos and size are what I want. Then if it passes muster, I can take a closer look at buying the real thing with more confidence.
      But I see why people are upset about clones. I have the 41. Good knife at the price.

    Its been some time since Firebird (note they are all marked Firebird made by Ganzo now) to signal the end of copyright infringement. I haven't seen anything that wasn't easily identifiable for what it was for the last year or two at least. Even their "tribute" knives change something to distinguish themselves from originals. For instance, their PM2 look-alikes have Axis style locks (I think they call them G-locks). If someone want's to hold past practices against them, well, they're only hurting themselves at this point. We need to realize that Chinese culture is different and they don't play favorites..they even clone other Chinese manufacturers. Give credit where it is due, they have made a concerted effort to change their ways. All of the FH series seem to be real winners with nearly something for everyone.

    Lemon hoko Yes. Exactly the same things I’ve seen. The FH series is top shelf. I have the FH31 & FH51, both their own designs, and both are quite excellent. I’m sorry...I just don’t think a company putting out a $20 knife that resembles some $200 knife is stealing anyone’s business. They’re totally different markets. So no harm no foul. What I DON’T put up with is a company that issues a knife claiming it to be X steel when it’s something else. Not only some Chinese companies are guilty...American and Euro companies have been found to do it too. Is it intentional or accidental? Doesn’t matter to the end user so I call foul in both situations. The knife you are reviewing here has been found to have a VERY light detent and easily deployed with a shake. Not good. All in all a good review. Mostly opinion as opposed to hard fact...but that’s what this is supposed to be. Good job. Much appreciated.

    Thanks for the video, for your insights. My fh41s is on its way to me, and i'm really excited. But there is at least one thing that makes it not totally spotless. Namely that it is heavily inspired by Civivi Elementum. I don't know if anyone mentioned it in the comments below already.
    My opinion contrary to yours is that Ganzo will not entirely give up cloneing, because there is a huge market for cheap clones/knock offs. Even in the US, but mainly in poorer countries (and we all lnow that they are much larger by number, ergo bigger market), where people do desire the original knives, but not being able to afford them, they have to settle for cheaper "alternatives". And if it's there, they won't be stopped by ethics, because that is on a much higher level on the Maslow pyramid. So there always will be a huge market for the Ganzo or Ruike or Sanrenmu etc. knives.
    I wasn't looking for an Elementum clone, i was just searching around for a no-nonsense, discrete flipper, and after spending a lot of hours with research, i ended up choosing the FH41S. Only then i have seen a video comparing it to the Elementum. So... subconsciously we all search out these forms, designs that have become iconic (rightly). And that is why they are copied.

    So, I was thinking about getting a ganzo that is almost identical to the spiderco delica because I want to see how I like the spiderco design without spending $50+. Should I avoid buying a ganzo copycat or is this ok because I'm not really taking any business that spiderco would have because I'm only buying this so I can tell if I would like spidercos, and if I don't I still won't buy a spiderco for a few years.

    I love almost all of my Ganzo knives, and this is for sure the next one I’ll get. I wouldn’t call them a clone maker, since they aren’t trying to pass it off as the real thing. But they obviously are using designs of major knife companies, mainly Spyderco. But over all I don’t personally have an issue with them since they are obviously not even close to the same knife when you have them in hand.

      Good question. I've always wondered that also, as it could be measured either way. I think the blade tang would be the correct one because you can go the full 100%. Once the lockup bar goes past 100% you would have to say plus some number like 125%. Just a guess on my part.

    Literally just got Ganzos in the mail from a guy who wanted to get some budget knives for his job, his coworkers at the HVAC company he worked with recommended Ganzo, and I recommended Sencut. He's a little bit of a kneejerk type guy, so rather than ask me "hey, what knife should I get", he went ahead and bought three Ganzos. So then he spoke with me. He went with, on my recommendation, an Actium in D2 and an Episode in 9Cr, plus a Tangram Dirk Pinkerton Orion in 440 Acuto after I showed him some possibilities; he really liked the look of the knife. So he opened up the Actium yesterday and that's become his new favorite knife. He also just today opened up the Episode and Orion and function-tested them. They're perfect apparently, so happy I could get him into Sencut and Kizer's answer to Sencut and hopefully CIVIVI and some other, more upmarket stuff eventually (he wants a Benchmade 940 as his collection centerpiece for now). But here's the thing: aside from THIS knife--a black G-10 Ganzo FH41--he's never even opened or function-tested the other two, which are from my understanding Axis Lock clones of a PM2 and a RAT of some kind. I'm definitely going to feature the FH41 on my channel and do a little vid on WHY Ganzo is such a magnet for controversy, but I'm very torn about featuring the other two, even though I'd portray their existence in a negative light.
    Given that I have decided to feature Petrified Fish and Kubey on my channel, since I think there are affordable Chinese brands giving Sencut a run for their money and doing so honestly and without resorting to cloning (and yes, I am aware of Kubey's efforts years ago to try and get reviewers to dictate what they said about them, plus allegations of cloning early in their existence 5-6 years ago that dogged Kubey...but clearly, based on you and several others, they have changed). I'm currently leaning toward "show, but do not celebrate" with the Ganzos, and also perhaps explaining the economics of why I bought these three knives for $40 since my buddy is a wounded Iraq War veteran and my money is helping support him, not going to support Ganzo. These will definitely be beater knives for me if they work, but that's not really the point here. I guess, MC, as a newcomer to the RUclips knife review scene (although for the past ten years, I have written very long knife reviews on my Facebook page and advised friends on what to get; I've gotten twelve people into knives!), I'd like to ask you your opinion on the ethics of doing that kind of vid. Like "I bought these three knives to support a friend and wounded veteran, and to give him money so he could put it toward two Sencuts and a Tangram, which are uncontroversial knives, and will start his collection" and how there will always be moral gray areas in any hobby; that whatever one wants to think, that it will never be black and white. That buying these particular knives doesn't support cloning, because my friend had no idea knife cloning was a thing, and that nor did it support Ganzo, because the money is ultimately going toward those other knives which are going to form the foundation of a wounded combat veteran's knife collection. Perhaps make it less about Ganzo and more about the "gray areas in every hobby" aspect.

    I don’t have an issue with ganzo for the most part as I have a bunch I purchased prior to learning of the controversy that being said I stopped buying them mainly due to the fact of buying higher end knives so I shy away from a lot of knives nowadays. I must note that I commented on another channel on that this past year a lot of knife makers have been putting out very similar designs to other makers yet nobody seems to blast them like ganzo gets blasted & feel these individuals that don’t express the same distaste for these other makers should keep their opinions to themselves as their opinions no longer hold value whatsoever. You can’t blame one and not the other for the same crime Yeah sure people can per say but holds no true value. great vids as always thanks

      I just can’t stand this double standard that exist in the community. I really started to understand the clone issue once I started collecting my ZT’s and when I seen clones of my knives I was not to fond of it lol why because I love my ZT’s and want to support them yet these clones cost almost as much as the originals so my argument was ok these aren’t even trying to be low cost value for those that can’t afford the real thing which made me somewhat unhappy whereas some clones i’ve seen are low cost for those who can’t afford the real deal still not right anyways lol going on a tangent this topic gets to me hehe

I feel the same way about the Ganzo Adimanti Skimen. I own six Ganzo knives and they're all fantastic. The pocket clip on the fh41 is a knuckle buster. I hate it. It bulges out at the top and if you brush your hand against it it hurts. I also dont like deep carry because its slower to get the knife out since you have to reach further in the pocket. But those are knit picky things, I like the knife a lot.

    A Ganzo 440C and a Böker 440C blade were my first victims when I started learning how to sharpen on waterstones. I bought two more Ganzos and gave all 3 of em away, but kept the Böker.
    I had an easier time on that Böker, maybe Ganzo gets their heat treat right? I remember a few Ganzos on a Rockwell test chart posted on a forum(or was it Alchemy_1) , and if I remember correctly a few had test hardness values a bit higher than manufacturer claims.

    Lately all the models Ive been getting have required modification in some way. To center the blade, to get the action right, to get the tension on the G Lock springs to a point that it doesn't hurt to open or close... Its been kind of a pain in the ass. The Only One that wasn't was my FB763-CF. I love that knife. I highly recommend it.

    Some BIG American companies make "clones" too.In fact, many simply copy each other.Heck, most knife designs predate anyone here today. And what was that Benchmade Griptillian? ah, I mean Ritter knife...isn't that a clone??

    • @metal_complex
      @metal_complex  5 лет назад

      I get what you're saying, but the Hogue is not a good example. Doug Ritter collaborated with Benchmade, but designed his own blade before they cut that model. Some Chinese companies make direct copies of every aspect, and then sell them for less with subpar materials. The goal for those companies is just to make a quick buck. They don't necessarily care about anything else. On the other hand, a lot of US makers/manufacturers are attempting to make a quality tool, or at least design an interesting piece that, at worst, pays homage to another design. Seriously, I get where you're coming from, but there's a thin line.

    • @Jimatuscc
      @Jimatuscc 5 лет назад +2

      @@metal_complex Ganzo knives have been tested and have a good track record. I just think they are getting a bad reputation while every knife company copies. Frankly I cannot wait to see what they come out with next. Newer versions have ball bearings and D2. I actually like the 440c they were using. Ganzo puts out a quality product, at a affordable price. Not everyone can afford the overpriced alternatives. These are not "Gas Station" knives, and as far as clones go, Ganzo hasn't really done anything the other ones have. example Benchmade has a "hole knive", Spyderco has a emerson curve, etc.

    I have quite a few knives but this FH41's action is the best of all of them. It beats out $100+ knives. Ridiculous quality for $25.
