I worked trauma OR when I was an RN in my early 20s. I burned out in 3 years. God bless trauma teams. Now I’m on the other side of the spectrum as a hospice RN. They both have taught me to appreciate every moment of my life, but also to help those who have a limited amount of time in theirs.

I thank God for my son's trauma surgeons and team on April 20, 2022, at 2:12 p.m. My son was shot in his chest which hit his diaphragm and damaged his colon, and appendix, and was left with an ostomy bag for two years. In March of this year, he had his reversal surgery and still struggles with his health because they had to remove his spleen. He was on life support for a month. The male who shot him was on the run for almost a year and the case will be heard by the grand jury on April 24, 2024. I prayed for God to guide the trauma doctors' hands for all the patients.

I love what you said. Too many people are "anti-gun" and dont use their brains. A gun is just a tool like a car or a drug... and all three can kill when used with violence. What we have to do is re-institute VALUES into young people, teach morality, honor, and raise young people who have a sense of self-respect and integrity. "Anti-Violence" is something we can move towards as a society. But if you outlaw a tool without correcting the societal ills, they'll just buy them illegally. They'll get them through Mexico like where they get their heroin and fentanyl (which are also "banned" but still flow into America like a waterfall)

My granddaughter’s father shot being in the place at the wrong time; he was with his ex. wife cousin unaware that her cousin had a beef with another young man; as they were walking to the store her cousin seen the guy walking up the street that when he told my granddaughter’s father to run but he wasn’t aware that danger was up ahead when he did realize he took off running in which he was shot in the legs when he fell the guy stood over him in which he was shot twice in the head and a third in his mouth and the other bullets in his body ; he die three times but they didn’t give up . They were able to do reconstruction to his face ; he remembered very little but his memory is intact but it did left him paralyzed. Being paralyzed is a struggle because he get a lot of infection to his wounds .

My Son was shot in the abdomen in 1989, it was a 22 caliber, it damaged his aorta, his left kidney was taken out and it hit his liver. he got around 110 IV and blood transfusions, these small bullets do kill, after going into cardiac arrest 4 times he ultimately lost his life at 10 Years old. Trauma surgeons worked really hard to save his life as well as the EMT and firefighters first to treat him. My Son had just gone over to play with a 9 year old who's mother was home and allowed this to happen by letting her son play with loaded guns. We were new to the neighborhood and no way I would have ever thought something like this would or could of happened, she had a master degree in nursing and didn't even call 911, she drove him 10 and a half miles in her truck to fire rescue. Please keep your guns locked up and do not let your children have any access to them.

The damage guns do is on a different level. We get plenty of stabbings in Europe but the damage looks entirely different. Knives are very personal, you need to get up close to the victim and the range of destruction is much smaller than with guns. There's only a handful of mass stabbings, but mass shootings happen all the time. Guns and knives are not the same, and the only legitimate measure is the real world damage they cause.

    • @justanotherotrguy

The guns are not the problem, people are.

If those people haven’t lost a child to gun violence, if they aren’t a trauma surgeon, how can they say that? I’m not against RESPONSIBLE gun owners, but who ever talks about the circulation of stolen firearms? The punk who killed my son used a stolen firearm. @@Hookechoandline I think our problem with guns is we never, as civilians should have ever been allowed to have guns in the first place. Fixing it is too late. The black market has so many stolen weapons there’s no way to get control now. Mental illness is a factor as well. I also carry for protection. But I’m a 52 year old mother. I’m not out here trying to hurt anyone. And thank you. Life changing in the worst way

A man by the name of Maj Toure founded Black Guns Matter & he is doing a phenomenal job educating urban America about guns & legal gun ownership. Unfortunately like every thing else there’s always going to be a small group that will do things the wrong way.

Superb doc. Important work. Kudos to the practitioners and the tellers of their stories. And of course our hearts go out to the victims.

When me & my forever lover were 13 we were in the same neighborhood one night we were Chillen with our crowd & we happen to get into a bad shoot out that resulted in the death of my sweetheart I got hit in the leg & the chest but was blessed enough to make it with just a permanent limp on my leg , I just wish my Cassie woulda still made it tho this was back in 1995.

One word RESPECT. I think there's something in the water and the trails they put in the sky is causing people to act violence as well as the culture in the music in the films.
