I now believe that HOTD is Condal’s tv version of the book so let’s just accept that it’s not a book by book adaptation, wish it was …. Season 1 and 2 is like the Chosen tv series of the Gospels. A lot of changes and made up stories that went against the biblical gospels. HOTD is the same unless GRRM will involve himself in the screenplay and writing dept. in the next 2 seasons to come. Otherwise, it’s a similar story but different also
A whole season of talking in circles, walking around & half-heartedly planning a war. GRR martin was talking about this all along. An episode full of the meaty conversations that should have been happening all season, and then doesn’t pay off what it’s spent an entire season setting up. Baffling structural decision. I loved it as it was happening, but it’s frustrating still.
that last shot is pretty cool. Im so used to CGI now that anything that seems impossible or hard to film I almost assume its finished in post so very cool to see that this show goes out of the way to do as much practical things as possible. Which is why it looks so good.
“The city is yours, Princess. But you will not hold it long. The rats play when the cat is gone, but my son Aemond will return with fire and blood.” Alicent loves her sons and halaena, despite them making the choice for her to not show comfort to Aegon when his son dies. She proves time and time again that she is willing to defend her children with her own BODY. She would never give up their positions and put them in danger for a friendship that ended decades ago. They killed Alicent and Aemond's relationship, she was the only one who defended him when he lost his eye. Not even Viserys did. Aemond was an interesting character, forced to deal with the reality that he could possibly be better for the throne than his older brother (in season 1) who bullies and undermines him. He is the most methodical and calculated person on team green besides otto and he is their biggest mental and physical advantage against rhaenyra, but they turned him into a one-note villain (basically s1 Daemon) who only wants the throne and power; where they could have developed Aemond into a fierce protector of his family (who ends up dying for this cause), they gave him the mad targ big bad wolf storyline...to prove that he's worse than Aegon?? why? the appeal of Aemond was that he was a foil to s1 Aegon (who is not invested in the idea of ruling at this point) but he cares for his family. No one is supposed to be wholly good or bad in this show, but its clear that the main characters (not just alicent and rhaenyra) were meant to have redeeming qualities and I think that's forgotten, every character does questionable things (i.e. people stand by rhaenyra but so many people die because of her inability to take action; she doesn't even admit to Rhaenys that her son, her only living child, is actually alive, she just kills someone random then marries Daemon infront of their four kids who have all lost a parent, Harwin and Laena).
It's so cool to see how much work goes into even the smallest little moments. Watching how they had to figure out how to shoot one little shot for the ending montage, and how much collaboration and creativity it required is so inspiring.
As someone who was an extra who has done 'eating scenes', initially you're like 'yay! free food!' and then you realize you have to eat food, constantly, and for hours. So you learn to pace yourself with the food lol.

I agree, as someone normally happy with just being immersed in the series, its actually nice to see the BTS just to take in all the detail of the work involved.
To be a little probably insignificant light in the sea of some negativity I want to say thank you to the bts crew, they make incredible sets and spend so much time and effort on these things and even find beautiful locations to shoot at/in. Yes it their job and yes they are getting paid but they are still taking time out of their lives to give people a beautiful show. Also hbo/crew of HOTD when you come back for season 3 please make these videos again it's so interesting. Also thanks to all the actors that have acted their hearts out in this show, some of them really came into the spotlight that we didn't get to see last season and we got to meet some awesome new actors and characters this season. Even though I too was a little disappointed that we didn't get a truly crazy finale, I stepped back and remembered many cliffhangers I had dealt with while watching another great show The Walking Dead, and those ones just made me more excited for the next season once I got over the surprise of a cliffhanger. So I'm excited for season 3 of House of the Dragon.
Well, we've seen what happens when a season is all pay off no build up (season 8 of GOT) so it was honestly refreshing to see a season with all build up no pay off. :D
This is what happens when HBO cuts 10 episode season down to 8. We're just stuck with episode 8 of 10 as the season finale. Second worst season finale after GoT Season 8
I like this show but they cant be having 2 year wait times between seasons that end on cliffhangars. People move on quickly in our society and they might not come back if they can have the next season done by next year this wont be a problem but 2 years feels like a stretch

Harrenhal should not be a totally desolate place. Through out the series it is gathering point for tens of thousands. You needs woods and farms close by to sustain that amount of people.

@@MrNikoSrb it does feel short and long overdue for just a build up setting to the real battle. That’s probably why there were only 8 episodes, too long for that purpose
-There is definitely character evolution if you know to analyze them. Daemon being at Harrenhall definitely evolved his arc and was necessary for his character. As for Rhaena's plot, wtf is she doing? -I hate useless shock value things like Meleys bursting through the floor, Vhagar using stealth and teleportation to kill Meleys. Triarchy fight scene seems added later in the plot development and also useless. Mysaria and Larys don't use ''little birds", how do they spy? In the original GoT this is shown while having dialogue between characters and pushing the plot forward. Melinda Massey is wearing a red cloak just for the trailer to make us think there will be a red priestess in the show. -Cinematography is great, but I miss the vibrant colors of the original first 4 Got seasons. Please more natural vibrant colors while outdoor. -The GoT has so many scenes were multiple things happen: Tywin scolding his children, planning future war moves, great dialogue while writing the letter to the Freys. HoT should have more of this. -I do understand that there was a budgetary limit and had to make do. Writers guild strike might have affected the plot, but for those who don't know, for every Matt Smith or any other actor paid millions, there are thousands of people who work in the background to create shows who barely can make ends meet. Everybody deserves to have a reasonable salary and sustain their family.
Why the writers chose to make a filler season shorter than usual boggles my mind. Ok give us a slow burn character show but take ALL the extra time don’t get bored at the homestretch

@@cosmicknight4665 the blacks are finally consolidated, you can see all the story pieces falling into place and the armies in their many factions are ready to converge. idk your knowledge of the books but if we had tried to squeeze the gullet in with magically teleporting triarchy ships knowing how that ends with a moment similar to the s1 finale, i think its better to save this big epic moment for all involved for s3. 🤷♀️ edit - fixed some grammar
@@kdjslvgds Fully agreed. Ending both S01 & S02 with similar losses (Storm's End & the Gullet) would likely have felt repetitive. Hopefully, moving the Gullet to S03 will allow the story some space to breath and the audience fully experience its aftermath without another two year gap. Also, we can thank the old gods and the new that these writers are (as yet) avoiding the magic teleportation of latter GoT seasons. Dragons may move quickly, but soldiers? Not so much.
@@kdjslvgds agreed also - S1 ending you see Green grow in power, and what people forget because Blacks simply had a lot more dragons is that they had literally nothing else to fight back with, a big factor in how they suffered a key dragon die. People calling it a trailer for Season 3, its like saying GoT seasons 1-7 was a trailer for S8... like yeah... of course its meant to make you want to watch the next season?! lol (not that I'm a big fan in how the did S8... but you get my metaphoric point! lol)

@@anthonyufert8477 yeah, feels like HBO tried to save money not realising it’s going to cost them more in the long run doing it that way. (And potentially losing them viewers who don’t trust their patience will be rewarded)
And so much cool stuff happens off screen. LoL
Major appreciation to the Behind The Scenes team for their hard work and dedication. They're a huge part of why the show looks so great. It's going to be tough to wait for season 3 until it comes out, hoping it won't take too long.
for a minute there, i thought it was daario naharis, his first version.
And so our watch begins 🫡
Bring on the birds, watching is hard work.
Everyone afraid of spoilers for future seasons must be hating Helaena right now 😂 I mean it's insane how she laid out everything so straightforwardly!
Things could change you don't know Books are books 😊 cinema is cinema.
@@dorohedoro1424 but Helaena had been correct ever since we first met her. It's more about whether you know how to decipher her riddles like, the beast beneath the boards referring to Meleys coming out of the dragonpit at Aegon's coronation, or he'll have a dragon but he'll have to lose an eye referring to Aemond losing an eye but gaining a dragon, plus the rat business. Now she's saying Daemon has to play his part, what part? that we don't know, there's only speculations but when it does happen, we'll know she's correct again.
@@ft.jackjimmy7282 her saying to Aemond "Aegon will sit the throne again, you'll be dead, swallowed by the gods eye never to be seen again" could also still be said to Daemon in his vision. Daemon is never seen again, whereas Aemonds body is found years later with Daemons sword in his eye.
Do you guys know what you've done? You have set up S.3 to be an **ABSOLUTE BLOODBATH!** There are going to be so many conflicts that I am actually worried about the budget. I don't think this show will have the budget to show all of these conflicts, and I am scared we will wait another 2 years for House of the Dragging.
Yeah, they have filled the next season with so many big scenes, and when you realise this season had one major battle, and still only 8 episodes to keep the budget down, kind of worried for major rewriting/ cuts 😬
Let's hope that HBO/WBD gives them the necessary resources to tell the story properly.
lets see them skip the battle of the gullet and the sack of kings landing like they did with Robbs battles in GoT lol
Was expecting more from this last episode 😢 but can’t wait for season 3
I was expecting more from the whole season 😅
“What a story to tell”
But instead of telling it, you’re making up cringey scenes where Alicent and Rhaenyra visit each other and have a cry. That is NOT their characters at all.
Wow 😮
Honestly I was really expecting more out this season and last episode 😢
Just can't wait for season 3 with all new episodes..
I love seeing all the hard work that goes into scenes I take for granted / that I don't think to consider how they were achieved
at first i thought i clicked the wrong video, then saw when it was uploaded, and i was worried i was having a stroke
Needed 2 more episodes
Typo in the Title? EP6?
NO. It's "EP8" dude, you're seeing things after watching the finale.
Also says “The Queen who ever was” in the title frame
They literally have some incompetent intern posting content because they don't care.
Eh whatever
@@jackbrown5461 Except I actually think that's what the title is supposed to be, which is such an awful cringe pun to name an episode lmao.
Amazing job these people do! I like how they are taking this story into the show and giving us such quality. That´s why it takes so much time to have another season. I´m pleased and I don´t care about any variation/deviation from the book, cause it´s well done :)
i stand by the fact this whole season could've been 4 episodes
Shameless 66 minute teaser for season 3, the 2 episodes that were cut were supposed to be the Battle of the Gullet, now you make us wait 2 years.
I am sure you loved Game of thrones during that era lmao the winter is coming the hype train this season Of HOTD was amazing . Each scenes were exe cuted to perfection
@@dorohedoro1424i agree there are some really standout episodes this season and some great moments, i don't know how people say nothing happened all of the characters have changed in some way and the entire board has shifted. that's how you tell a story. it's about the character drama, scale, and politics. although the final episode didn't feel like a final, it was still good (otto should've been the one to deal with the triarchy though the fact that he's missing for most of the season is genuinely bad). season 3 is now going to be filled almost entirely with payoff, large battles, and major character deaths. why are people so hyperbolic? it's still one of the best shows on right now
I remember when everyone was mad that got season 2 had nothing happen in it. now everyone loves it. this stuff is Way better than big dumb explosions and dragon fights
I swear some of you people are astroturfing for hbo. Each scene was perfect? Really each scene?
Waiting is something GRRM fans are trained to do at this point. We should take it in stride.
I know Miguel is still a producer but we need him back as a show runner and director.. nobody does it like him.
the costume designers make me wanna ask them to take my money. If I was an actor I would love to keep a piece as memory of that great time with that great crew. :D
Loved seeing my home wales to be a part of this show! Immense welsh pride 🏴
A lot of complaints in the comments, i am just happy and grateful this show even exists.
Otherwise, it’s a similar story but different also
GOT / HOTD have the best sets, Seeing the books brought to life in such a huge way has been amazing
A whole season of talking in circles, walking around & half-heartedly planning a war. GRR martin was talking about this all along. RIP Rhaenys, the Cargylls & Jaehaerys for carrying the season, the Queen who did something, the Guard against unnecessary/nonsensical changes & the Prince who died for filler
Hope all those fans who told us to be “patient” are eating their words & seethe for another 2 years. So much for S1 being the build up to the “Dance of Dragons”
🤨🤡
Regardless of how people complain online I'm grateful there's such a dedicated team for this show who consistently bring this world to life in new ways each episode
The sound of thousands now canceling their Max sub
The sound of thousands not caring.
thats why they priced hiked shortly before the premiere, to make the most money they could within those 8 weeks knowing people would cancel.
you guys are acting as though you won't watch s3 😹😹
edit:
and the dunk and egg show is gonna air in the off-season of hotd
@@maggyfrog Why are you dummies taking this as if people are hating on hotd? Why keep an active subscription for two years if you're not watching anything else other than hotd?

I don't know, i was expecting a kings landing conquering finale. Are they planning to do that in episode 1/2 of next season? Missed opportunity for the finale
The rats play when the cat is gone, but my son Aemond will return with fire and blood.”
Alicent loves her sons and halaena, despite them making the choice for her to not show comfort to Aegon when his son dies.
No one is supposed to be wholly good or bad in this show, but its clear that the main characters (not just alicent and rhaenyra) were meant to have redeeming qualities and I think that's forgotten, every character does questionable things (i.e. people stand by rhaenyra but so many people die because of her inability to take action; she doesn't even admit to Rhaenys that her son, her only living child, is actually alive, she just kills someone random then marries Daemon infront of their four kids who have all lost a parent, Harwin and Laena).
thanks so much for the bts, please keep it up for season 3. i would love to see more of the team and crew and all their efforts. cheers!
Ulf is channeling Joey chestnut😂
30 quales?
@@johnbernhardtsen3008 That's like, 120 wings😱
they called this episode 6, a subtle hint that we'll definitely be getting two more episodes
right...?
It's so cool to see how much work goes into even the smallest little moments. Watching how they had to figure out how to shoot one little shot for the ending montage, and how much collaboration and creativity it required is so inspiring.
As someone who was an extra who has done 'eating scenes', initially you're like 'yay! free food!' and then you realize you have to eat food, constantly, and for hours. So you learn to pace yourself with the food lol.
It's sad they're all thinking this season was fantastic when it was lackluster.
It’s heartbreaking to know Emilia still can’t bring herself to watch HOTD. And now to put Dany in this. I’ll never forgive d&d for what they did to Emilia
I mean who could blame her? GOT traumatised everybody.
Her death was criminal. They rushed it. Needed an entire 9th season to be written properly
@@O6iI agree.. i had no problem with how it all played out, it's just the way it played out! They messed up not makin 1 season based on white walkers war then 1 on daenarys finishing arc
Geeta is an incredible director, her two episodes were this season’s best
The montage at the end was a bit cheesy imho
A bit?
7:10 what a legend 🤣🤣🤣🤣
We waited 2 years for this shit 😂😂😂😂
Great season. Just needed two more episodes, but with the studio constraints and having those episodes taken away at the last minute, I think this is the best possible season we could've had. Some of the best episodes and scenes are in season 2.
Fix episode count, hire some better writers, and voila; it would be perfect.
Though the finale was underwhelming, the work that every person involved did was exemplary, with such extraordinary passion, is very inspiring. Hats off to you guys
amazing work!! so much talent!! we will be waiting for season 3!!
NEVER STOP THESE BEHIND THE SCENS VIDEOSSSSS. They are amazing!!!
I agree, as someone normally happy with just being immersed in the series, its actually nice to see the BTS just to take in all the detail of the work involved.
Cant believe I didn't click that was Abigail Thorn
Filler finale.... Sigh!!!!
This season didn't feel like a season finale. It felt like episode 6 or 7. It's sad :(
7:26 mission accomplished 😂
I really do hope they do justice to the books action. It looks like it’s been held back a lot
Well, we've seen what happens when a season is all pay off no build up (season 8 of GOT) so it was honestly refreshing to see a season with all build up no pay off. :D
The White Walkers nose was something else!
Two years later and this is the finale?! The writers need to be fired followed by Condol.
Daemon is the best character of the show!!! Epic scenes!!!!
Not in this season lol
This is what happens when HBO cuts 10 episode season down to 8. We're just stuck with episode 8 of 10 as the season finale. Second worst season finale after GoT Season 8
If I see another square inch of Harrenhal next season I swear to god I'm gonna burn king's landing myself.
In Condal I trust! Just don’t let anyone talk you into bringing Laenor back!
I like this show but they cant be having 2 year wait times between seasons that end on cliffhangars. People move on quickly in our society and they might not come back if they can have the next season done by next year this wont be a problem but 2 years feels like a stretch
For such an all-out production it's certainly a cheap trick.
you forget this is how actual tv shows work and have always worked...and not clips you watch on tik Tok or binge on Netflix, be so fr they still have to create the next season especially since it will be a lot of battles. y'all seriously need some patience and respect for the people working on these massive productions that take so many moving parts, it can't be done in a day.
THIS was the season finale? How very disappointing this episode was. Does it leave me hanging on the edge of my seat waiting for Season 3? No. Just has me question whether I want to continue trudging through this quagmire of slow paced and actionless drama. 😢
if you want action go watch anything else, action will be mostly the entire 3rd season, this is a political thriller, game of thrones earlier seasons were not every episode battles. yall need to actually be fr. It was also probably not easy to do between the strikes as well. this season had alot going against it.
The Northern army shot at the Twins is so incredible and breathtaking, glad their effort in achieving that shot paid off
Also, funny seeing Clinton in disbelief and pain seeing Tom eating so many quails 😂
Lovely to see Paul Kasey being given his flowers. The king of the Doctor Who creatures haunting Matt Smith's nightmares once again? Yes please! 🤩
Ryan really just casually introduced the Green Men, love it.
Harrenhal should not be a totally desolate place. Through out the series it is gathering point for tens of thousands. You needs woods and farms close by to sustain that amount of people.
My favourite Series House Of The Dragon. I watched Game of thrones this year, thrudged through it . I never was on the bandwagon When the Winter was coming 😂😂, Glad I didnt. Thanks for this amazing epic viewing journey. Each and every scenes were executed to perfection. Can't wait for the New Season.❤
10:10 " It's just going to be a really powerful part of the end of the series I think " Well it wasn't
Was that the end of the series? It’s a 3-4 series and we’re only at the end of season 2. We’ve watched only the build up towards the real battle
@@El_.5794 he meant season 2 like series 2
@@MrNikoSrb it does feel short and long overdue for just a build up setting to the real battle. That’s probably why there were only 8 episodes, too long for that purpose
I’d rather not done the close up to the white walker, just a far glimpse was gonna be neat. Would’ve saved you budget too
-There is definitely character evolution if you know to analyze them.
Wish they highlighted the costumes as much as the props and sets and talked about them more.
Why the writers chose to make a filler season shorter than usual boggles my mind. Ok give us a slow burn character show but take ALL the extra time don’t get bored at the homestretch
I was so hyped that there were 15 minutes left at the end just to find out they filled it with making of content. I feel very much betrayed
I've seen people complaining about the episode. I really liked it. It builds the tension so much for Season 3.
It makes it feel like Season 3 is going to be the biggest beat drop ever.
loved this season. i think ending the season leading up to the battle is the better choice than ending with it tbh.

edit - fixed some grammar
S2 is all about the Blacks recovering whilst under attack. People calling it a trailer for Season 3, its like saying GoT seasons 1-7 was a trailer for S8... like yeah... of course its meant to make you want to watch the next season?! lol (not that I'm a big fan in how the did S8... but you get my metaphoric point! lol)

The whole Harrenhall Arc was resolved?! They all gathered their armies, which is a BIG resolve. 5 new Dragons, with new riders, the whole Dragonseed Arc? Aemonds true intentions?! Daemons true intentions?! So many things were resolved, the war has begun. It wasn't the best season, but still what you're saying is just false.

The craftsmanship , directing , acting, vfx.
Everything came together so splendidly.
God speed and bring the next season soon.

The white walkers look like cosplay quality
that impossible shot paid off, was so hyped to see the Greybeards
Can't fathom why they didn't end s2 on a high with the Battle of the Gullet, could've easily been 10 episodes with Gullet ep 9 but I guess it'll be the premiere now ? At least we got to see Tessarion for 3 seconds I guess very dead finale
Blame HBO. They only gave them 8 episodes, and the writers had to work with it.
Ryan the ruin😂😂
Camera shots were top notch in this episode.
I love the ending, but man the waiting period just always gets me 😭
It still amazes me on what goes on behind the scenes
They spent the whole season building an arc for Daemon onlt to erase it in one scene with the white walkers.
These behind the scenes episodes have been better than the actual season🤷♂
