I love this new, more industrial Within Temptation. I saw them live a month ago and they sounded really great, this song included. I think Sharon's voice has gotten stronger and is actually less breathy than before. She was awesome live. Maybe you should try next The Purge, Entertain You, Raise Your Banner, Supernova, Mad World or Paradise (feat Tarja Turunen).
You are suddenly doing all my favourite bands, yay! Sharon is an amazing singer, I do personally like the older songs a bit more; probably because I grew up with this band. They are also very good live! But also amazing music videos.
Within Temptartion used to be a Doom/melodic/symponic metal band. They have changed drastically through the years. Musically they aren't all that complex but earlier stuff like, the Album, "Mother Earth" (2001) and fragments of the album, "The Heart of Everything"(2007) have a lot of soul in them and interesting compositions. Never did like the direction they wen't that reflects the nowadays but, there are some good stuff here and there.
I personally prefer the old and symphonic metal WT more, but I do like this song. Next songs to listen to might be „And we run feat. Xzibit“ (symphonic metal meets rap), „Paradise (What Bout us) feat. Tarja“ (the first singer of Nightwish), „Angels“, „Ice Queen“, „Stand my Ground“.... Or, if you want it just beautiful and 100% authentic: „Somewhere“ together with a full orchestra (which is stripped back in this song) and the most awesome Anneke van Giersbergen (formerly „The Gathering“).
I really love the whole ablum where this song is on. And it is experimental with the sound. It has a sci fi feeling to it which makes the "proccessed" sound fit. If you where to watch live videos from their more classic/popular songs, then you would "get it" and (I think) becoming a big fan. Also one of the big reasons why I love this band is Sharon (the front singer) She is really sweet and humble. For example I have seen a clip where whe invites a young girl onto the stage to dance with her during a song. Just because she saw that she sang along and knew the lyrics for all songs.
I get that number, not their best record but this is a really great band and they can do so much more, try a live video of this band this is a video from 2008 so been a while back but they sing here with an orchestra and choir so definitely worth it! They've done a lot of different styles over the years, but they've always been interesting. It's definitely worth checking out their back catalogue as they have many better songs than this one. My personal favorite is "Pale", which is almost a folk song, and heartbreakingly beautiful.

You should try a few more of their songs they are good, not their best song. I would love your take on the group Nothing More. Either “Jenny” or “This is the Time” they have excellent vocals, lyrics and music. Jenny is a true story and their song God went North also true, but will make you cry on camera so fair warning.
More familiar with their earlier work and while I do agree they needed to move in different directions to progress, some of their more recent work has been a bit inconsistent. Some of the songs have been good others less so. This one was okay.
I wish Sharon's vocals where not so processed. She has one of the best female vocal sounds, why ruin them with too much filtering? Song with a lot of potential, but in the end it just ends up being "too basic structure". it has nothing that actually stands out and make it unique.

Listen to Whole World is Watching, Forgiven, Mother Earth, Jane Doe, Memories, Stand my ground, Iron, In the middle of the night, Covered by roses, Angels, Faster, The heart of everything, Pale etc etc etc. Also listen to Sharons soloproject My Indigo! They have been with me since the first album Enter from 1997( if i remember corectly) until today with The Purge, Shred my skin and Entertain you! If i could recomend you only two songs, then listen to Iron and Whole world is watching. Two very different songs in style but both represents the band well.
I'd agree with that. Skillets a bit more metal and a little less progressive, but I think, from the way Nightwish bowled him over he's had a relatively small exposure to more recent progressive music. Older stuff like Rush more so
for me i'm getting pretty hard fallout boy vibes from this (immortals sounds pretty similar to this) nonetheless it sounds pretty dang good. hadn't heard this song from them yet but i was sold pretty quick also jacoby heddix is amazing, listened to papa roach a lot when i was younger, when i saw his name on the clip for wolf totem by the hu they took a spot among my favorite bands
