What’s the best book you’ve read in March?

Not done yet, but Moby Dick! Expected a slog, because people usually hate on it, but I think it's gorgeous so far and was ahead of it's time.

Your hair looks so pretty in this video! Congratulations on this great reading month! I had a great reading month for myself aswell (7 books) :) My favourite was Circe! I've also read a thriller for the first time in a while and I really loved it. "Beneath the Mountain" by Luca d'Andrea. It's having a slow start (for a thriller), but if you don't mind that and are in for the ride and not only for the thrilling part, than I would highly recommend!

I had been on birth control for over 20 years for period control reasons but had to get off of it two months ago because I developed blood clots in my lungs. Birth control can make the risk higher for pulmonary embolism.
I read Ace and liked it but it was geared more toward younger people and I am not young. When I discovered that I am part of the asexual spectrum last year I found this RUclips channel called Ace Dad Advice from an older ace person. He is currently writing a book with the same name and I will definitely be reading it once it comes out.

I really enjoyed Before They Are Hanged, though the ending was indeed a bit underwhelming, but I found that the third book made it up for it and it became my absolute favourite installment in the series. Also, the unlikely sex scene also made me uncomfortable at first but the humorous tone and silliness of the overall situation just ended up making me laugh, so I guess it worked for me (and I'm also not a fan of sex scenes usually). 😂 The plot of The Argument of Kings was much more developed and made reading the two first books worth it for me. 1:51 It's even worse than that. I'm not sure if you've heard of, or have already read, a fantastic book written by Rachel Carson called Silent Spring that came out in 1962. Not so much about plastic but she was trying to draw attention to the environmental impacts of pesticides and the disinformation spread by chemical industries. It's such a weird book to read for the first time today when people are as environmentally conscious as we've ever been because so much of the stuff written in it just seems to glaringly obvious now.

I don't want to sound preachy or anything (even though I do, sorry :D ) but please don't define asexuality as "not really wanting sex". We don't or rarely (depending on where you fall on the spectrum) experience sexual attraction, which has nothing to do with libido or sex drive. Anyway! I can also recommend "The invisible orientation: An Introduction to Asexuality" by Julie Sondra Decker, which I personally liked more than Ace as it's a little more nuanced. If you take hormonal birth control as a teenager you have a 100% higher chance of commiting suic*de sometime later in life than people who don't take it. I assume that's because of negative psychological effects like depression that birth control can cause.

Omg I felt the exact same way about the people having sex in Before they were hanged!! I thought it was just me. I sat there the entire time like 😖

This series being Grim Dark, it was actually meant to be icky. There's another sex scene in the third book that were between two very conventionally attractive people and still Abercrombie made it icky. I wouldn't expect Sarah J maas level flowery over the top sex (which I don't like either) from him. He writes ugly sex lol.

Ye Abercrombie's female characters are not really his strong suit in the first trilogy. He has acknowledge and realized that himself and grown a whoooole lot and has definitely moved away from the dudebro vibes starting with the standalones and especially with Age of Madness

Sarah Gailey uses they/them pronouns, jsyk! They're not for everyone - I love their writing, but I get why you don't. Definitely very subjective.

The only thing I liked about Rock Paper Scissors were the quotes. I was blown away by the lines but the plot?? so boring and the characters? disgusting

Did it feel like one of those books that the author was more focused on being quotable one liners than the story? I've started seeing that in some books but maybe it's just me
