i can definitely understand why playing vs Phosphoru feels bad, but i think his existence is a huge boon for the game- it shows that even in a 20 year old game, there is still room for creativity and adaptation, and that underestimating your opponent and refusing to adapt makes ANYONE vulnerable
I love watching pros who are very chaotic and not standard build orders and play patterns. MBL has been one of my favorites to follow for example. Phosphoru is a big draw to watch these lower levels of the very very talented players.
This happens at every game when he isn't at the highest level. When he is consistently in the top 10 doing this stuff to Daut, Tat, Nicov, Hera, etc then we can talk.
@@joshdavis3743 It's clear he's still learning and growing. That's why I'd love him to get a top pro mentor. He seems to clearly have skills that others at his current level dont. Get him someone who can coach him up on areas he can improve so he can be like MBL and back up the pressure with actual economy on the backend to help slam the door if your initial push doesn't get there.
I really enjoyed this kind of "Set Report". Both in the style and the pace of the Video. It is much easier to consume, when you don't have the time to enjoy the full Set of games. It felt like every game was still very recocnisable and not to rushed despite the faster speed and I would greatle appreciate this kind of Report on maybe some stand out sets or maybe the finals of the brackets or something like that. I think that could be cool.
@@mrwalter7205 It is cheesy but RedP does it at such a high level that it is impressive. He is basically "exploiting" (I use that word to mean he is taking advantage of) balance issues to create units at such a time before the devs intended. So he makes a unique unit at the 15 minute mark and then stops making any more economy and just has villagers on gold/wood. This means that he is all in on just making the same unit. It's an extremely optimised strategy and hard to counter because he is so good.
I really like this format. Putting things in context of the series and highlighting pivotal strategy moments adds a lot that I would miss watching individual games from a set.
It's insane to witness that, after an intermediate phase where the pro players figured out how to counter "the Phosphoru", Phosphoru just went pro himself.
Phosphoru loves breaking the game. Pros didn't learn that much, but the game got new balances because of his strats. Now he can find new ways to break the game.
There is a difference between emulating his strategies and actually being the one to come up with them. I'd say he deserves it. Lol as annoying as his strategies can be
Thanks T90, I appreciated the deep dive. Speeding up the gameplay was good and it enabled the whole series to be squeezed under an hour rather than 2 or more which is greatly appreciated. Thanks for all the content, it is always a pleasure to watch!
This vid's been really a great presentation with an explanation of what has happened in those matches between redphosphoru and ThunderboltX. It is great that you are picking such content for your main channel.
Love the format ! And I also love Phosphoru since your first video on him. Love his spirit, his dedication, the way he thinks and overcome each and every obstacle ❤
Excellent cast T90 this format really works well for RUclips. Watching a series at sped up gameplay like this narrated by you really setting the tone the whole time fits this so well. Great Watch!
Phosphoru took 2 games off Viper in sudden desaster which even though it was a sudden death tournament was still under draft settings so he has potential to cause upsets in the future.
I used to play red phosphoru on the ladder at 1400 elo (he used to play as white phosphoru). He always did fc malians long swords rush. Crazy to see him play at such a high level now
This is like when a stream sniper becomes a streamer themselves, Phosphoru went from a legend with a silly style to legitimately breaking in to the top tier.
Not really. Stream sniping is full hard against any codex and leagues rules that exist. Phosphoru is fully within the rule sets and public codex. Its a legitimate way to play.
@@simonsilence Oh yeah for sure - I should have been more clear, not that he's stream sniping but it's like, sometimes streamers will have a fan who is sort of an NPC in their streams, but then that fan gets really good and becomes a streamer themselves.
Loved the format, I'd really enjoy more "abbreviated series" style videos. It was great that you sped through the inconsequential moments without skipping them completely. I still feel like I watched the entire series but it only took 40 minutes. Great stuff! And congrats to Phosphoru, excellent play. 👏
Really love this format and I’m so psyched that TTL is back! It’s sad, but completely understandable, that silver won’t get as much coverage. Listening to TTL sets is some of my favourite content of yours, and Phosphoru was giving us a good show in this video. Love it!
Really enjoyed this format, as an occasional RUclips viewer I miss out on the drafting strategy which I'm always kind of curious about but never really have the time to check out vods and kind of deep dive the subject. I think this is a cool way to overview and interesting series that might otherwise miss coverage from you or another caster Tldr, liked it a lot. I'd love to see more like this
Hey just want to say thanks for all AoE content. I'm really new to pvp AoE and got the definitiv edition just because of all the videos. Checked out the stream Yesterday and the hera games were really nice to watch.
great casting and story! I like the way Red Phosp. walled up so perfectly in spiral - market and blacksmith to dock/waters edge. More people could make a starting eco bubble on this map.
Thank you, this format is great. I never watch the full videos from the tournaments because they are just too long but in this format I'd be more likely to watch them.
Very very clean. Super excited to watch more TTL. Really hoping we get full series recaps frequently like we've been getting for WWC2. As a newer returning player to the AOE2 scene, I love learning about all the talented players that aren't the very very top. Also, we should get Phosphoru into a mentorship program with MBL.
so excited to see this, what a great series. motivated to find my own start to hopefully join the ranks of the phosphoru fc, just made an alt account to practice different strats without tanking my main elo. technically not a smurf as my main elo is 1000.
I like chipping away at long, slow tournament sets but this sped up strategic view was nice. Even a bird's eye view of a high level player moving villagers around and not as much camera movement is nice to see too.
Phosphoru is a lenged. He brings more creativity to the game and should get a recognition for that alone. I hope he'll be successful in the tournament.
He is also humble and always learning. His journey to top is a joy to witness. And he is not really even a one trick pony, but a pony with an arsenal of tricks. He makes AOE2 better.
I really respect Phosphoru for creating such a unique and powerful strategy so late in a game's life. I kind of assumed players would more easily be able to counter his predictability, but it seems it's not quite so easy.
Sorry to say it but the way Red Phosphoru plays is way more fun way more entertaining way more enjoyable way more interesting way more adapting way more intriguing then all the top guys who play the same way .. thank you so much for the upload
Great video, maybe try a few enticing clips from each game at the start if viewership drops way early? I hope it doesn't because this is great. A set overview is so damned welcome. Thankyou for the tourney. Man is Phosphouri a damn joy to watch. What a player to step it up to rank and take it to em. Standing where Hoang did.
Love the format, i watched at x1.25 an it was really good, Phosphoru reminds me to a novice poker player, in the sense that his inexperience gives him an edge to more experienced and biased players on "how" you should play, but in the actual matches is more like chess, he has a clear opening that works, that you cannot ignore, even at high ranks, the forward castle was sublime, breaking the mold and totally going for the knockout, having that initial playstyle makes rivals think, when actual strategy is more fluid and every single match is different, Phosphoru going full Sun Tzu in this tournament, thanks a lot for such a good analysis
just to clarify, thunderboltx is the highest ranked Bulgarian payer. as the game isn't very famous in Bulgaria, really proud to see the guy in a big steamer video 😅
It's not often you see a court jester participating in a medieval tournament with knights and actually triumphing. We need more people like Phosphoru in science and politics, willing to explore beyond the meta.
I really like this format. Showing the whole series like this was absolutely the right call.
Agreed.
second!
Agree!!

I feel this only works with a RedP game because he's so all in. Every game basically finished in less than 30mins as well.
Could not have written my thoughts better than you just did. Really enjoy this format
Agreed! I'd love to watch the important sets in this format!
There are just no "cheesy" strategies IMO. If you have a strat that's not "meta" and you're able to win. You're a better player

I like the double speed cast. Sometimes I want to spend 2 hours watching a tournament series, but usually I'd rather have it in 45 mins.
I also watched it in 1.55 speed and it was very digestible. Liked it.
