The really hard part about restoration is doing it on a budget, but its also a good reason to be creative and buy second hand - and never trow anything away unless its totally unusuble .... Thats how i do it ....
I've never seen anyone manage to get a liner down with the end-fittings attached! Worth a subscribe just for that. Well done! I did have a little chuckle when you then took it off to fit the register plate.
Thanks! We all make mistakes the first time around, but there were - just between us, Rob - some intense "discussions" about all this off-camera... Lydia and Joe
Now I know how Stonehenge was put in place after watching you move that stove! Big congratulations, such persistence and resilience and you're still talking to each other.😅 I said 'wow!!' out loud when that chicken came out of the oven. Such a big step forward: warmth AND food.
Just found you whilst trying to find something slightly different to watch! Love your quirky presentation style! The stove/ oven is quite beautiful a real engineering masterpiece! Such a simply principle. I could smell the chicken from here, bet it was the best roast you’ve had! Happy new year to you both, I look forward to following you in 2025❤
Just found your channel and have subscribed, I was totally blown away by your enthusiasm and hard work to get that stove in, which is just lovely!! Looking forward to watching all your progress in 2025, btw we live in a very old welsh stone cottage near Snowdon, suffers from damp & condensation, but would not change it for the world, we don't have a stove but do have a log burner as our main source of heat! its a 2 up 1 down cottage with utility on the back.
Glad you've enjoyed the videos! We have lots of ideas we'd like to try in order to fight the damp and condensation - I think it's going to be our biggest battle. Have you found anything that has helped? Or got any advice??
@@cottagerswales We invested in 2 de-humidifiers, one upstairs & one down, we run them in the evenings usually, stopped all the black mold on the window frames and also on the walls! Also open the windows when possible, we only have 1 main door so we leave that open in the summer as much as possible even on rainy days along with the windows.

That's definitely our approach too, as much as possible. Some things, alas, you just have to buy new, or pay someone to do, and that hurts!
You guys are so cute! And also very determined / slightly mad with your DIY ventures 😂 great job Cottagers! X
Thank you so much!

Well done guys!!! Loving watching the wins (and struggles) and how you take them in your stride. Subscribed for the journey ahead! :D
Would love to see a start-up fire video, and review of the stove once you have it handled :D
Welcome aboard!
I do think that £6 might have been worth it though, eh?
Ah yes, even Lydia agreed with that by the end! 😂
