Replace the coolant expansion tank with either a new stock expansion tank or a mishimoto alloy one and also replace the two thin hoses that plumb into it at the same time , they all break down and crack and leak after a few years and coolant leaks or loss of pressure on the expansion tank side will cook this engine and ruin it just as good as a failed timing belt. would recommend doing this at 9-10 years at latest if you want to hold onto one of these and have it continue being a great little car for another ten years, I just did all this and timing belt and water pump and tensioner pully at ten years and now can sleep safely just doing tires oil and brakes for hopefully ten more years. ( mines a 2014 2 door )
Just picked up a 2016 in Molten Orange yesterday. Such a fun little car. I see no need to do a bunch of power mods on this thing. It barely puts down the power it has, no need to mess with engine reliability to get more tire smoke lol. Mine had a bunch of suspension mods on it. Lowered with H&R springs, Koni STR shocks/struts, KONIG 16 inch wheels with Falken RT660 tires on it. I've already ordered some Eibachs to raise it up a bit and ride hopefully smoother. They have some aftermarket engine mounts in it that transfer a lot of NVH into the cab but I've already ordered softer bushings for these mounts. I happened to find a dealer with a Focus ST and Fiesta ST and was able to directly compare the 2. My biggest concern was cargo space and room for the kids in their forward facing seats in the back. When comparing the two backseats, I found that legroom was really similar between the two, it seems like most of the size difference is in the cargo area. The cargo area is large enough to get the job done for me, sometimes I have to haul about 60-70 lbs of gear for work to different places. Every time I step on the pedal I get a huge smile on my face while pulling down 29 MPG lol. I plan on doing some autocross with it and maybe a track day or two per year but really it's main use will be a semi daily driver. My past hatches include ZX5 Focus, Escort and MazdaSpeed3. I'm primarily a Jeep guy and other than my Fiesta my next newest vehicle is a 95 XJ, thena 95 YJ, and a 47 CJ2A lol. With previous Jeeps being 3 other XJs, and a 76 CJ5.
Love my 2014 Molten Orange, I am going to keep it forever. Yep, blend door actuators, the banes of our existence. By the way, I think all STs came with a cargo cover that lifted with the hatch. Mine has it, perhaps they lost or broke theirs before you bought it. You're going to love the car overall. I upgraded the intake and bought an accessport tuned it to level 1 it made a difference, and I also upgraded to Sync3 with Android Auto, added an adapter to USB to make the connection wireless.
long time fiesta st owner here. here are my top 5 mods that made the craziest difference to me 1.LSD 2.STAGE 2 Pro 3.Full Turbo back Exhaust 4.Good Tires 5. all the rest '150$ mods' are more or less on par (dv+/quick shift/coils and springs etc etc) nice to have but only small improvements do not forget about supporting mods; the biggest might be engine mount followed by intercooler! looks wise IMHO less is definetly more on those things!
I have a 19 fist w an intercooler, rmm, dv+, itg intake and 6 revisions of tuning. It’s the one of the most fun best handling cars I’ve driven. I rode in my friend’s and noticed it handled like one of his 4 evos. I knew I had to have one. It’s perfect for the crazy mountain roads where I live. One of these days it will get an lsd and radiator and I think it will be where I want it
@@JPTHRICEthe fist is the easiest manual transmission to drive. Steering and pedals are not stiff like my Subarus or a BMW. A close second was my b5s4 and maybe my friend’s Audi5000. Super easy to drive
Nice video, I have a blk 2017 Fiesta ST with Recaros and blk rims. I also have a 2019 Edge ST blk on blk that my wife drives. Awesome vehicles in their own way.
I'm almost sure it already has sync 3 and so, it can be upgraded to Apple Car Play because before 2016 they all came with Sync 2 MyFord Touch and it looks different than the one in the video (I have a 2014) and people didn't like it, so they changed it in 2016, but I think you need to update the firmware which is just downloading the file from Ford into a USB stick and install it in the car in order to get CarPlay
If you dont like the feel of the shifter swap it out for the carbon fibre ford performance one. Theyre expensive but totally worth it, may suggest a short shifter for it too
People always talk about fiesta and focus st clutches being light and easy to use but my 2015 fiesta st got a really stiff clutch feels heavy and makes my leg hurt after long road trip
Nice video. So the Recaro's sit a little lower? I know they have heating and more bolstering, but are they actually more comfortable? I love small, fun cars, so I'm looking to possibly get a Fiesta ST. I have a 20 year-old VW GTI and thought about getting one a little bit newer, but now I'm wondering if I'll like the Fiesta ST more.
Love my 2017 ST , :-) last of the 1.6 4 cylinder ST,s before the 3 pot 1.5 jobs , maybe better interior , but no way as tuneable safely, or as much as a real raw" ST Driver enthusiast,s car " 4 cyl 1.6 is far stronger for sure ! Ford,s best Fiesta ST I reckon, as an owner of a Mk 7.5 ST last of those 1.6 , 4 cyl ones , and as a motor mechanic, to trade :-)
This car is perfectly rated. When it came out, car reviewers would review the car for their magazines/websites/channels, then go out and buy one. It was hailed as one of the all-time great fun cars, and it lived up to the hype. It’s a shame Ford only builds trucks, SUVs, and butt ugly Mustangs. They got so good at making affordable fun cars.

A “stage 2” Fiesta ST is ridiculous fun. Pulls hard in every gear, even 6th, and the car’s natural agility is fantastic. Plus over 30 mpg!
