I've never had the drain bolt back out, but I've certainly hand-almost-tightened an oil filter before. Live n learn!

I got an xj600 as my first big bike and I’ve had a way better experience with it. It definitely had its quirks especially in low speed manoeuvres and yes it vibrates something rotten in the 3-4K rpm range but it’s also a really solid bike that just gets on with it

So glad I found your videos!!! I bought a 94 XJ600 S Diversion (seca ii) lots of little niggles including a bouncy feeling on the front end. Feels like an egg in the tyre but think it's a fork issue. So much fun to have in the workshop but hoping your videos will mirror my experiences!! Thanks for sharing :)

I had a day almost exactly like that, Jerry can and all. It's part of the "joy". That's why I love my FZ6 so much. It was a really wonderful change having a bike just start and only needing oil changes. Keep it up, you'll be so proud of her once she's sorted. Definitely looks like unbalanced carbs or a vacuum leak with that floating rev. Thanks for posting, makes the rest of us feel right at home 😆

They are the worst days but monumental for the bike haha. Thanks for the ideas on the high idle!

Well done killing it as soon as you saw the oil light, hopefully it wasn't oil starved for long enough to cause damage. Also, for any intermittent issues with the idle/throttle, try checking all the hoses going from and to the carbs. On old bikes they rot away and you start pulling air where you shouldn't and it causes weird issues.

Ya it seems to have survived unscathed. Good points about the idle. More to work on... 😅
