Faye is my least favorite character of Fire Emblem Echoes. But I've been replaying the game recently, and decided to delve into her supports to see if she really is the worst. Enjoy!

The creators should had made her a pairing for Kliff instead of obsessive with alm like if they had her have a crush on alm be rejected accepting reality then kliff just being her comfort like seriously missed opportunity for such better development
I wanted Faye to be with Alm and Celica yo be with Saber
Great video. The war taking a toll on her is an interesting take, and it kind of makes sense within the game, as in... if you leave her in the village and visit her with Celica, Faye's response is very polite, even remarking how she missed her and how she feels lonely without the boys.
Of course that doesn't make her a good character, maybe if the issue was explored further she would be better.
At least she can be a damn good unit
We can talk about Faye in all possible directions but the undeniable factual truth is that Genny is still best floof.

I really wish they gave her more to work with, I mean, they could have had something going but kinda just stopped. I wish they went all in on a direction, instead of trying to go both ways. I wish they made it to where throughout the game she just gets more and more insane over her obsession, and it would've been cool to see a character that isn't prestablished to go insane (not counting Zephial cause he cheats and has two games lol). I remember Reading a line early in the game about how she remembered how he saved her from something (forgot what though) and I thought that could have been a cool way to establish how she has the white Knight mental illness(again forgot what it's actually called) but they didn't and it's a darn shame. Still better than Perri but what a waste of an adorable design :(

Honestly, had they just built upon how her caring personality developed into an obsession over caring for Alm due to the war and the stress it had on her, that would have made for a great subversion of the whole endearing part of the "yandere" trope, and I can't write off Faye as a bad character since that is obviously what the writers of the support wanted to do with her character, it's just unfortunate that they didn't actually do it. Lovely video, lad, I never would have thought about her this way otherwise.
Solid video, my man! I actually never picked up the fact that Faye might have been fucked up because of the emotional toll of the war. Sometimes, unless I'm hit over the head with it, I forget that I'm suppose to be playing an actual character with feelings and not a sociopath who's hunting down the perfect waifu!
On a side note: those super loud/blown out parts need to be mixed better. I know the comedy effect for it all is the current trend, but you could still achieve the same loudness effect but have it better mixed so headphone users don't get their ears blown out while listening! I personally listen to video essays and podcasts while working and, between this video and your Fire Emblem wiki one, I'm afraid to watch anymore because of it! Maybe I am in the minority though, but who knows!

I mean, Fay is kinda bad, thou her design is super cute, I'll give you that!
But I agree with Edelgard, is a controversial character which who I don’t fully agree but is a great character
I want to point out another way to look at her ending. So many point out on how much of a bitch she is for ditching her husband to see Alm. And I always ask them this question. If she still loves Alm, why did she marry another man in the first place? I look at it as Faye accepting Alm relationship with Celica and marries another man in attempt to move on, but she ultimately couldn't forget about him. It's not that Faye didn't change after the war, is that she wanted and tried to change, but she just couldn't get over her obsession. It's just a sad tale of how much an obsession that can ruin a person's life.

In the end i think Faye is just a kind sweet girl who was ruined by her obssession,then the war gave her huge stress,more than most people.
That probably twisted her,then,she only had her love for Alm to lean on.
I feel like overtime she ended up as a girl with serious emotional problems,because i guess she is obssessed with Alm to the point of not taking care of herself.
In the end,she's awesome,but absolutely destroyed by her obssession.
Recently i decided to write a post war supports with her and Silque,and it's kind of about my interpretation of Faye's true personality,and how she opens up to Silque and will slowly got over her obssession.
Also i think Faye in general is a pretty casual girl that dosen't want to go into anything complicated.
But then she forced herself to got into it,because of her obssessived devotion to Alm..
That could explain why she got so affected by the war,war is complicated.

Some people hate Faye because she's obsessive. If alm touches her, Faye gets all happy and obsessed about it so much!
Alm is right tho... The trauma and the war is taking a toll on her and turned her into a yandere

I didn't like faye at the beginning, but later in the support A speech with Kliff, the last sentences let me admit she still cares about her friends

Out of all the villagers Faye probably comes after Kliff and Gray on my tier list, merely just because I really like her design, although Tobin and Atlas definitely have deeper characters, they’re entirely too macho straight man for me and I don’t enjoy yellow as a character colour scheme
Though it really annoyed me that Faye, as one of two Echoes original characters and a great unit, has such a crappy character and is so one note, if she developed like she does in the Silque A support then I’d like her even more, but it’s just so sad, the wasted potential makes me cry

I don't get why the guy She married got with her when he knew She loved Alm, why propose to someone who's obviously into someone else?
Imo- yes. She is. Her personality is “Alm”... that’s it. That’s literally it. She has less personality than a mute protagonist like BOTW Link or the Persona 3/5 protagonists, and I didn’t think it was possible for a character to have less personality than a mute protagonist. In fact, I wouldn’t call it an exaggeration to call her my least favorite character in all of media history.

She is one note simly because you're basing off all of your conclusions in one line of dialogue. We got to see only a glimpse of how she was before the war in the prologue and even then she showed more interest in hanging out with Alm. While she's not the worst, there isn't a lot to Fae's character, she's just that simple, in that she tends to obssess over one guy, has a loving family and has a very myopic view on how she should relate to people.
But what really bothered me was you throwing really bad shade on Fates's characters without need or reason.

Because Fates characters arguably are in fact some of the most one note in the series, it's a well known fact.
@@Hebleh I was not here to discuss if Fates's characters are one note or not, my main complaint was that there was a comparision of Faye to Fates characters without rhyme or reason. But if you want an explanation, I can't give you one without writing tons of paragraphs about every single character. All I can say is that most people who complain about Fates characters being one note, from my experience either: A) never played the game and bash Fates based on criticism from other people or B) Have not bothered to read supports or read only a few lines and called it a day. Yeah, some characters are not as complex as the others, but calling every single one as one note and not as good as the characters from other games is disingenuous.
Faye is a normal girl who grew an obsession with Alm. You can see her casual side quite often. If she were one note, she wouldn't care to stay in the village and just go for Alm, but that's not who she is. At minimum she has two notes.

Tbh Faye is just the most brilliant comic relief character that everyone took way too seriously. Literally everyone treats Faye’s behavior as really weird, implying that the player should also see her behavior as really weird, and seeing how far she goes with it is hilarious. People were just so butthurt after seeing so many actual bad one note characters like Peri (who was awful BECAUSE every other character treats her crazy behavior as acceptable) that they freaked out at the slightest hint of something like that. Part of the irony of Faye is that she’s pining after a character who has a concrete love interest in Celica. If anything, she’s a rejection of the whole Tharja obsession thing, showing how someone who acts like that comes off as insane and ends up with no friends, and that idea is played off as a big joke. Not every character needs to have 80 layers of depth that you discover through their supports 👀
Fire emblem echos was a bad game. It feels rushed like they had no patience with the game. This is not the first game intelligent systems ruined. Remember fates.

"Aww I hate it when they die just as they're about to say something important"
It sort of turned me off of her character as a whole, though I do enjoy her banter with Boey at time.
