My Dad had a stock phrase he often used. It was “I BLAME THE PARENTS” and he made sure he raised a kid whose actions he could never be blamed for. I am blessed to have been raised by a strict father who taught me that it was my job to keep my kids out of trouble.

The knives were removed by police then returned within hours. The father said the knives belonged to him. His father also helped his deranged son buy the guns. The parents should be charged with accessory to murder.

They sure do. I was lucky, I got a warning and told I would be fined if I remove fishing wire from a birds leg again without a license. So next time I found a bird that needed help, I called a licensed wildlife rehabilitator and they sent someone who didn't have a license or working under a permit to remove the fishing line from the bird. The DNR and their wildlife rehabilitator program is a joke.

The father was a good person and he had a good son, and therefore signed for his son who he knew his son was mentally disturbed: parents need to stop being afraid of their children, and should discipline them from day one of their birth. Domestic violence in my state is a 0 tolerance crime, if you threaten your family with knives it doesn’t matter if they don’t decide to press charges the state will. The state and his parents are both at fault as well, but it should have never been up to the parents after those signs were shown.

When I was a teenager, I went to a camp, and I saw a kid stuck a pin into a crab and watch it died slowly. I recall that he had an evil smile on his face while watch the animal died. Since then, I believe that some people are evil.

“Now that little boy is an orphan”…..that hit me hard emotionally. I lost a parent at a young age so I sort of understand what hes going to go through and its not fun. Sad thing is he lost his through murder…losing it from someone committing a senseless murder to someone they had no relations to. This is just devastating more and more as all the stories now unfold. The community needs to come together and help that boy out immediately. If anyone knows how to setup an account so we can get him some money at least it will def. help suppress the chaos. As superficial as that sounds, he might not care for the money now but when the dust settles a little more he could really use it and will be very appreciated that he doesnt have to worry about bills and living situation in a time like this where he should just take the time to grieve. The overwhelming feelings of “what now?”…wheres mom and dad? Why am I alone out of nowhere? Whos going to take care of me? Do I go to school still? Besides, it's much easier to say that the victims were actual victims whent he man fires indiscriminately into a crowd. Other shootings may have other details we are unaware of, and innocence/guilt may not be as clear in those cases.
50 years ago the parents would have given him a choice: get a fulltime job, join the Army, enroll in University or GTFO this house.
For those who say a parent is not always to blame, in this case, I say, yes, he was, and he needs to be held to account. With all they went through, it made no sense for the father to sign the endorsement, unless a psychiatrist cleared the son, which I seriously doubt would have happened. So now I ask, whether the youth received any professional counseling. I seriously doubt that. We have to ask ourselves which is worse, being known for seeing a counselor, or being known as a murderer.
In this case, if the lawyer and parents try to claim insanity, burn the father for signing a perjured document, and criminally negligent homicide or attempted criminally negligent homicide for the dead and wounded, reckless endangerment for everyone identifiably within range, and production of an instrument of mass destruction, since he conceived the terrorist and knowingly gave him the means to destroy lives. And yes, for the orphan, charge him with child abuse.
I have defended people on benefit of the doubt before, and I believe in free mental health care, without stigma, and also in the right to bear arms lawfully, but I so wish I were a prosecutor in that county.
I believe the school suggested he get counseling. Parents removed him from school to home school him.
The parents already hired a defense lawyer. Who in his right mind, given everything this sick person did, would sign an endorsement or help the person acquire an AR-15? I hope both pay a severe legal price.

I don’t own a gun, but I am pro-gun. I know a few people who have guns illegally, so taking away the second amendment will only cause more victims of home invasions, shootings, etc, with no means to protect yourself and those you love. But man, something needs to be done. Some kind of mental health check, just like they do background checks. Maybe have a piece of paper given by a doctor who specializes in mental health, who signs off on a persons mental health being okay to buy and own a gun. It’s really that easy. The gov just wants to wait for a few more mass shooting so that more and more people will get tired of it and try to completely abolish the 2nd amendment.

I watched the same story you did.
When parents don’t bring up a child right the child will grow up showing signs left and right telling on their up bringing. Unfortunately the parents have guilt and shame so they will not press charges and they will look the other way thinking and hoping that the problems will be gone. Never looking at themselves of where the problems could have came from. But as long as that person lives with the parents it doesn’t get better unless the parents improve. But until people start improving themselves let’s take guns away because that seems to be the governments solution instead of mental health.

Inference that people that collect knives, have swords and/or own guns, are mentally ill makes about 100% of Americans mentally ill. Instead of trying to scare people about things that are common place creates further division. Making people aware that the people surrounding the mentally ill need to take responsibility and report their behavior would serve the public better.

1) its not that "if you have knifes you're mentally ill." Its the fact that if your mentally ill with signs of violence WHY is it possible for you to get knifes/gun.
2) 100% people around someone who is are not stable should report/take some kind of action but at the end of the day an adult (18+yo) is an adult.
