The title of this album is Awake because it is an expression of what it is to be woke and alert to the truth of your surroundings. The song is issuing from a place of someone who always blamed themselves for something, possibly even wrongly guilted into believing it, when in reality others had a large part to play in it, and they suddenly realize that. So the song itself should have a waking effect, to stimulate evaluation of one's circumstances.
Now, this song is only half the road to progress. Once you identify the problem (even a source of abuse) then reconciliation or, short of that, forgiveness is the only thing that sets you free from a prison of pain and bitterness long term. Sometimes you need to get away immediately to get to a healthy place. Long term though, you can say 'so long' as long as you forgive, which will allow you to depart in peace and freedom to better things. Otherwise you can indeed depart from the situation but will never truly get rid of the lingering effects of what happened to you, and never really stop thinking about it, because you simply can't until you forgive.
