Great demo man! I'm glad Bogren is doing full-featured amp sims, and this is a breath of fresh air. I will always love the 5150s and so on, but more obscure and custom modded Marshall stuf is my thing. Very flexible, the internal boosts are awesome. I also like this sim with a MudKiller boost or Fortin Grind style clean boost. Cheers Phil!
Thanks! I really like the full suite plugins way more than the Ampknobs. And yes, I like the fact that we have a modded Marshall thing going on. Gotta try this with the Mudkiller, happen to have this boost here!
@@PippPriss wasn't feeling this plugin much at all. It's fine just not worth it for me. You tried Audio Assault amp locker yet dude? Would be good to see you try that.
@@resington I tried and actually have bought the 5160 and Califier. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, in standalone I am getting a quite dramatic lag, which wasn't there on the EX. I have to give this another spin on VST3 format and then decide if making a video makes sense or not. So far, I could not dial in great tones with both the 5160 and Califier, but the AHM remains king - great bang for the buck. but I guess the 5160 and Califier not having cool tones is an issue on my side, they are certainly well designed plugins!
Just found your channel through Resignton. I'm going to have to give your IR pack a spin. I got this plugin recently and I'm a fan. The IRDX is an interesting concept, but I'm not sure how profound of a difference it has. The difference is evident, but I feel that difference is minor. The amp itself sounds great IMHO
Looks like an easy to use plugin. Nothing really fancy / crazy, but a serious product that has all you really need to start shredding. I like the interface and the user friendliness of it. I'm now tempted.
Thank you! I have to be honest, I was super anxious about this one because this is ridiculously long, and sometimes my mind just f*s around with me, saying I do not bring anything new or interesting to the table. But comments like yours do show me that I should think more positive and get more stuff done. 🙂
To see if it's good plugin we need some MLC profiles with specific dialing and then test A/B using NAM vs MLC with MLC's CAB/IR. It would be fantastic. (I did the same test using EVH 5153 el34 profile vs Gojira in the same IR and they sounded super identical - I could not understand differences )
Most amp-sim makers have in their EULA that they forbid to do profiling of it. I like to respect that part of their licensing scheme. Unfortunately I cannot do anymore testing, because I did not bought the amp sim and my trial has expired.
@@georgezorbas9036Ah, gotcha! I think the question with those are not "How accurate is the amp",.but rather "How good does it sound?" But yeah, I would love to have a real MLC Subzero for review ;-)
Yeah, definitely does that! I think it also adds a bit more sizzle than the regular TS, but just could be my listening situation here. 🙂 For this amp, I liked the Vanilla Sky a bit more, it was a bit "cleaner on the fizz".
@@PippPriss Based on Bogren's description on his site, it sounds like The Vanilla Sky is based on a Klon-ish circuit. And I do think it sounds great here.
Very nice demonstration, thanks! :) Between NDSP Gojira and this one, which one would you choose? (I already have BDH Bundle and Helix LT/Native, but that Riff Recorder is such a handy feature :) ) Gojira is nice and has more pedals, but I feel that MLC gives more unique sounds and grain structure is quite nice, bitey and somewhat raw. Feels for some reason more agressive :)
I personally like the sound aesthetics of the Gojira a bit more, since Amp 3 has more of that 5150 style of distortion. However, you basically answered the question for yourself - if you like the MLC more in it's gain structure, than that amp sim is definitely for you. Amp sound is key, everything else are just gimmicks.
this plugin is shit hard pass on this crap! Spirit Box is awesome on the other hand! all bogren digital plugins are terrible! yes i said it i dont kiss that guys ass!!! his IR"s are just ok at best too hes not that good at digital products his Krimh drums is awesome though ill give the guy credit there for sure! but the ampknobs are terrible tbh and this plugin i couldnt get it to stop feeding back on the high gain channels unles i choked the gate to unplayable levels! WTF seriously man ... Anyway Spirit Box Plugin is the way to go its thee best ive herd so far and i have hundreds of them not kidding!!!!! Peace!
Thanks for checking by and commenting! I am not actually kissing Jens Bogrens' a$$, as this video is not sponsored in any shape or form - I am basically invisible to them. I agree with you on the mixwave Spiritbox - Mike Stringer being a great plugin and in my view a more complete product, smacked out a review of that a few days ago. But I thoroughly enjoyed this one actually, like the recent AmpKnobs. The first AmpKnob was not of my taste, though. I did not have the feeding back issues, and found the tones I got actually quite great - do you disagree and found the tones I got $hit? Honest, curious question here, no hard feelings if the answer is "yip!". ;-) In my book, and I still have to make a review on that one, there is nothing better than STL Tones Tonality Josh Middleton. But I am the most "Screamer into 5150 on V30 Marshall" type of guy you can ever find, so that comes as no wonder. Glenn Fricker would punch me dead if he'd see my preferred rig. ;-) But again dude - thanks for engaging! Always interesting to hear what other folk think and where they disagree!
