I'm glad he made this as a product. I went on a camping trip about 10 years ago and were trying out a new technology, which was similar, but we had to actively stir a rod in our water bottle for 60 seconds in order to drink the water. I think we even had to wait a few minutes afterwards to drink it. This product basically does all the work for you and you can just put it in your backpack while you wait.
Eh, I could see this for camping, but for hiking and backpacking, using an actual water filter like a sawyer squeeze or beefree bag will still be king (I think). You’d need to be able to make sure this product wouldn’t fail on you, and that it would have the capacity to carry multiple liters of water
