Oh boy! That's back when Amtrak still considered #29 a class act. Not like today's 4, occasionally 5, car consists. She looks really impressive. And she's got a goodly load off and on, like she should have! Appreciate the video ❤😂 8:11

I LOVE That Train! Even though I only rode it between DC and Cumberland. Seeing that Station and that Scenery brought back a lot of GREAT Memories. Thank you, Sir!
The first time I rode it was the day before Thanksgiving 2003. I was worried that it might have been sold out. The only place with available seats was in Lower Level, which they say is for Elderly & Handicapped. Felt bad, but it wasn't full (only ~12 seats) when I boarded. So, I felt less Guilty. I hadn't taken a seat away from anyone.
I sat next to a petite, frail-looking lady who HAD to be at least 90. One of the Amtrak Ladies came down to tell us the dinner times and other such matters. As she turned to leave, the lady next to me said, "Can I get a cup of coffee?!" The employee just kept walking. I KNEW she wasn't going to do that.
So I said, "I'd be more than happy to get you a cup of coffee. Do you like cream and sugar?"
    "Yes"
    "How many of each?"
    "A lot"
    "Could you be more specific?"
    "A lot"
I asked the other people if I could bring anything back for them. All said no, but I could feel my "stock value" rising in their eyes, from "What's he doing here? He's neither elderly nor handicapped!" to "That was nice of him to offer. Okay, he's 'cool.'" LOL
Took my seat mate at her word. Brought her five creams and ten sugars. She put four creams and five sugars in, and put what she didn't use into her purse. I remember thinking, "When we stop in Martinsville, she's going to be so pumped on caffeine and sugar that she might get off and run next to the train all the way to Cumberland!" LOL
What a GREAT Memory for my first trip. Got to help someone. My name is Dom, and I'm a Helpaholic :)
During a later trip, my friend who lived in Cumberland rode with me. He was probably 150 pounds overweight (sadly, he left us in 2008), so he qualified as handicapped. IMO, no way he'd have made it up the narrow spiral staircase. Since I was with him, I could make a case for being in Lower Level, as well. But no one said anything.
The only other person in Lower Level was a young woman. Not sure why she was there. But she wasn't taking a seat away from anyone, either. And besides, it was none of my Business. She got off at Harper's Ferry. Just Tim and me left. I said, "Contraband Party Time!" Pulled a Canada Dry Diet Ginger Ale two-liter bottle out of my bag. Said to him, "Guard this with your Life (LOL). I'm going to the Club Car. I'll be right back."
Went to the cafe in the lower level of the Club Car and asked the gentleman for four cups of ice. He gave me a funny look. As nonchalantly as I could, I pulled a $5 bill from my wallet. He saw me, and gave me the cups of ice right away. I put the bill in his tip jar. He put a can of soda in my tray (maybe for appearances sake?) and said "Oh the house. Come on back if you need more ice."
On my way back to my seat via the upper level, I heard a guy say, "MAN, I CAN'T WAIT TO GET TO CUMBERLAND. I'M DYING FOR A CIGARETTE!!!" I just happened to be walking by, and said to him, "Sir, I couldn't help but overhear. This might help. Would you please hold out your hand?" He was so wired that he didn't even give me a weird look. After all, he didn't know me. I had a small vitamin bottle with pieces of 4mg Nicorette gum in it, and I had PLENTY to share. I was going through the Quitting Transition at the time. I gave him two, and said, "If you're not used to these, they pack a wallop. Just use one. You WILL NOT want a cigarette, at least until we get to Cumberland. You're just going to have to trust me on that." He said, "Hey, thanks buddy!" Can I buy you a drink?" I replied, "Thank you just the same, Sir. I brought my own." I then said, "I'm getting off in Cumberland. Here, have a couple more. I don't know where your next smoke stop is. Hope you have a Great Thanksgiving!" and hurried away before he could say anything about the one can of soda and four cups of ice in my tray. Got to help someone again. Life...Is...Good!!
Back in Lower Level, I opened the bottle and said to Tim, "If I'm recalling correctly, you like White Zinfandel."
Next thing I remember, shortly before our Destination, an Amtrak lady came down, saw us, and said, "Okay! And what have we been drinking down HERE?!" I picked up the bottle off of the floor, held it up and said, "Canada Dry Diet Ginger Ale, Ma'am." Unfortunately, I was holding the bottle upside-down (it had LONG since been emptied) and the cap was off. She gave me the sideways look and said, "Mmmm-HMMMMM!!!" We figured, "Hey, if they throw us off the train, that's our stop anyway." LOL Though I don't know if they do that.
    Ahh...Memories......
If I were POTUS, I could hear the Head of Amtrak scream, "Have Mercy, Sir! You're DROWNING Us in Funding!!"
Thank you again, Sir. Cheers and All Best!

Great to see a girl engineer around that brought the long distance train on part of its junarey to this station part of the western Marland scenic railroad
I thought it only served the railroad but the awesome that the station serves Amtrak too besides the western Maryland railroad

The whole deal took about 8 minutes.Done pretty efficiently as far as I was able to see.Better done in 2 separate stops than having mass confusion trying to do it all in one stop.Amtrak is not always wrong.

Does somebody know the next crew change point for Amtrak engineers west of Cumberland, MD? Is it Pittsburgh or Connellsville? Or just sometimes Connellsville? I have seen videos of Connellsville Station and the crew changed. But there is a map of Amtrak Crew Districts and it shows Pittsburgh as a crew change location.
