    I just bought a new set off 81-II for $500. There finally getting broken in and sound amazing. Great bass and not bright coming from my Yamaha reciever. On the hunt for the RB-75 now.

      I was always looking for the rb75 too. I seen a pair on ebay 1 time and it was right after I just bought the rb35 so my funds were a little depleted and couldn't bid on them. Those rb81's are some really nice speakers.

      Forgot to mention I have a klipsch rc-7 that I bought specifically to pair with the rb75 as a front LCR.

      No. There is nothing to speaker "burn in". It's a trick of psychology. Some audiophools also think AC power cords need "burn in".

      Don't ask Danny Ritchie for upgrades on Klipsch speakers. He claims they are all shit. I love them myself.

    I use a BSR equalizer and adjust the sound of any speakers

      If I'm just listening to listen to music, then I'll adjust the bass or treble a little bit of need be, but when I'm listening just to listen to the speaker, I like to keep everything even. This way I'm not influencing the sound in any way.

      Same here, bsr equalizers are very good!!

    Tone down the horns by using dyna wrap. It takes away the hollow plastic sound and smooths out the tweeter. The plastic horn causes the brightness.

      I think I'm gonna try this in the ext few days. Although I dobt think it's something that will be audible from a measurement standpoint, I might still take a before and after measurement. Hopefully I can get a video up about in a week or so.

    My denon avr 2106 blew up I have a pair of the rb35s. Any suggestions on a replacement receiver or amp?

      I pick up a Denon Rec 2200 used fer $20.00 used ) When I got it home I removed the Hood an saw how lay out & separated everything was which I suspect might make for relativly easy repair. If you choose not to go that route the Denons do show up used on a preety regular bassis at thrift stores . My other suggestin is keep your eyes peeled on H..K. there ceretainly as good as Denon but the older Denon s are really nice.let me know what you decide that would be cool,Thanks!!

      I'm sorry, somehow this comment got over looked.. if it's not too late, I would try to stick with denon or Marantz, they pair well with klipsch.

    great vid. I have the RB 81 2 whats the different? thanks!

    • @dickydoesaudio3466
      @dickydoesaudio3466  3 года назад

      For me the difference is minimal. I do feel like the rb35 has a bit of a wider sweet spot. The detail from the series 1 rb81 is a little better, not as bright as the rb35. Either way they are both very nice speakers especially for the prices on the used market. The rb81 series ii i haven't had a chance to listen to, maybe I'll find a pair of the rb81ii and ill be able to do a 3 way comparison.

    Whats your opinon of the crossovers used by klipsch theyve benn under attack for using cheap crossover ?

    • @dickydoesaudio3466
      @dickydoesaudio3466  2 года назад

      I think most speaker companies use the cheapest parts they can on the crossovers, to save money. Klipsch is no exception to this.. The thing that actually matters is how they sound to you.

    Thanks your doing a great job! I'm looking for a pair of RB81's or 61's. for 200.00 t0 250.00

      I think you're In the right price range for what you're looking for. Only problem is, (myself included) people ask a little more than they should for the rb81... ibwas able to get my rb81 with stands for less then you're willing to pay.. I found a guy who switched from the rb81 to a soundbar for his TV. They were barely used..

    It's not apparent from the outside, however the X-over freq does hint to it; ... there's a huge difference between the HF driver in the 81 vs the 35.
    The 35 has the smallest little driver imaginable... about the size of a quarter and not much thicker!
    The 81 has a much larger motor structure and easily replaceable v.c./dome combo.
    The higher X-over freq in the 35 is because it can't handle the power that the big 81 can.
