@@ZeroTheHunter Birdo is not male, and never was male. Birdo was originally a trans female before Nintendo decided to simply make her a female not born with a genetic defect in all future appearances of her.
The manual for SMB2 described her as a male that thinks they are female because back in those days before more studies and discoveries were made related to the biology of sex and gender, it was still treated like a mental illness, hence they thought a trans woman was a confused male.
Now we know it is a type of intersex condition affecting the brain rather than characteristics like the genitalia. To be fair, there is a small minority of people today that do think they are male or female as there was back then, which causes issues for those that actually are trans.
But back then that is not who Nintendo had in mind since it was believed all trans were confused individuals, which unfortunately is a belief that still lingers today among those uneducated on the biology of sex and gender even though most trans women are actual women with a genetic defect.
