    Factory rails, power steering and a big block makes a tight squeeze for a header that flows good. I've used Hooker super comps and Hedman Husler race versions on them, they are still real tight. You get more room with a manual box but lose power assist, which is needed if you plan on driving it in a city. There are a couple of smaller power boxes that give you more room. Classic industries shows their part PSC67744. It's a 400 series box that is a lot smaller than the 800 series you have.

      Wow you have no idea what a game changer that makes for me. I will be ordering that box very soon. Thank you so much for the suggestion. I had no idea that existed. Thanks for watching!

      @@2carpros Great series of videos. They've come in very handy building my 454. Why would you change the steering box if the Doug Thorley headers cleared it? I am about to drop my engine in a '68 Camaro with the 800 series box so will have to face the same issue.

    Old School tip: The old time mechanics like my grandfather use to keep a dime in their tool box because it was the perfect gap for dealing with points.

    Holy cow that thing is half the size as the starter on my 305, no more arm shaking as I'm trying to hold the starter with one hand and get the bolt going with the other

    Good morning friend , I am also an engineer from Corinth Greece. I watch you and admire you for your characteristic patience for the order in your tools and for your knowledge. As an engineer I have been doing this job for more than 20 years, I want your opinion on the following question. As much as Kian I have searched, I have not found a substantiated answer. The question is, ... Why in some cars the fan wings maintain unequal distances from each other. ??? Simple question but so difficult to a competent answer. Anyway, thank you for reading my message. Be well and keep the passion for this job ......

      Thank you for watching George! I really couldn't tell you there are a bunch of different ideas on why to do that but honestly I'm a mechanic not an engineer.

    • @Blazer02LS
      @Blazer02LS 4 года назад +2

      There are a few reasons why the fans are made that way. One is to reduce the noise level as the differences in the spaces between the blades removes some of the drone that equally spaced blades can create. The other is to create a simple undulating pressure wave but not at a single frequency. That helps move air better than a constant flow. The next reason is cost, as long as they can balance the blade and it provides enough airflow it's ok. Another reason is harder to determine. The "missing" blades generally allow for access to things like water pump bolts or similar while in the assembly rooms at the plant.

    I'm not sure if these questions have been asked: 1) Did you go into this project with a budget in mind? if so, then 2) Are you still within your budget? and 3) do you have an ongoing budget summary? Thanks. Great work!!

      1. Not really.
      2. We are right around 6k with the machine work.
      3. Haven't really been keeping track. It's a work of love so I have been going slow and buying things slowly.

      @@2carpros That's what I was thinking in terms of budget. Makes sense for the work and parts you are putting into it. It's nice to see the cost of aluminum heads come down. More practical and likely affordable over adding large valves to stock iron heads.
      I did like the machine work and clean up on the block. The shop did nice work! Super clean!
      Thanks for the follow up.
      Keep up with the awesome vids!

    Regarding your Thermostat Housing, yours is a very basic housing; the OE for my application is showing as having an additional two ports on it, as well as the main hose port. What would those be for?

    Did you have to modify the perch for the motor mount? I’m doing a similar build for my 67 camaro and was having a hard time getting the motor mounts and the perches to line up just right.

    • @2carpros
      @2carpros  3 года назад +3

      Oh man that was a saga all by it's self. So there is a difference between small block perches and big block perches. So I had to swap mine out because I thought that the perches would be the same. Here is the link to them www.classicindustries.com/product/1967/chevrolet/camaro/parts/k702.html with these you just barely have enough room. Thanks so much for watching Richard!
