@KentPetersonmoney I’ve always said to my self that if I was Saban, I would given the ogs equal pay raise and kept them for all 3 seasons of MMPR and the movie, save Rocky, Adam, Aisha, and Kat as 4 of the 5 Zeo Rangers
Haim Saban was beyond vile and greedy. The original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers are the greatest of all time. They are owed millions of dollars. And it's too bad that all the Rangers and everyone involved didn't strike and protest and make a big public spectacle and example of Saban and his greed and never ending hunger and thirst for making money off the backs of others. Had the fans and kids known that the actual Power Rangers weren't getting paid...it would have created an amazing precedent which is exactly why the system is build and designed to prevent that. It's a pyramid scheme. The original Rangers weren't just actors and reading scripts...they were genuine performers and athletes and gymnasts and stunt people and they did a lot of work to promote and show up at events and do commercials and traveled everywhere. Respect and love to them and I really miss Thuy And JDF and Machiko Soga (Rita Repulsa)
I remember watching this originally, before going to school! Can't believe it was 1994 though, so long ago. I remember this was on YT years ago, so good to see it again, thanks.
This was way back 28 years ago when this interview was done when Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie was filmed down in Australia and on that particular day it, was 8:23 in the morning in the UK and it was 8:23 in the evening in Australia back then. Sadly after hearing the death of Jason David Frank 2 days ago, it just broke my heart so badly because I really loved him a lot in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Series during my Childhood. Amy Jo Johnson and David Yost pictured here must be so heartbroken that they've lost another cast member Of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers since Thuy Trang who played Trini in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series died in a car crash in California in 2001.
Next year will mark exactly three decades of the franchise since that very first episode on August 28, 1993. They should not have replaced three of the original six characters halfway through the second season. Even though the rest of season 2 and 3 were good, it just did not feel right replacing Jason, Trini and Zack with Adam, Aisha and Rocky. Aside from that, this is pure quality. Thank you for unearthing and sharing this wonderful video.
Well, there was a reason why they left. It was something to do with pain pay so they chose to leave. Actually, the actors chose to leave. It wasn’t that they were just completely fired. It was just that they chose to leave because of the money dispute and I have no problem with the other three actors because I really enjoyed them at first I didn’t like it when I was younger. I hated it but as I got older, yeah I do like that other actors that replaced them. I think they made a good choice but also I discovered the reason why they laughed and that’s why they left so they would’ve left anyway.
This was wonderful to watch. Thank you ever so much for uploading this man. Its great that people out there still keep there old VHS tapes for history things like this. thanks and Rest in peace Jason David Frank
This aired when I was in the 4th grade. I'm looking at the date and realized that Austin, Walter and Thuy just left the cast back then. They were talking about the power ranger movie, so I guess they quit right before the movie happened.
They didn’t quit. They were fired. I think it was indeed right before this sometime in August. Because they film enough over the summer to be in the first 10 or 15 episodes of season 2 but not in time for the movie and the rest of the season.
@@notyouraveragebear9326technically they did quit, they stopped showing up for ADR in an effort to protest in hopes that they could change things, but the protest backfired on them and Saban replaced them.
You're right about the date, it was from Friday 28th October 1994, the last day of the autumn half term holiday. :) I had just finished recording The Crunch segments on The Big Breakfast and changed the channel for this. They did try their best with that interview despite the delay, though I can imagine poor Amy was really nervous when Anthea asked about the movie, since Amy would be right, they would have been told not to talk about that, or the fact that there would be a second season with some major changes to the first (like three of the actors leaving for a start). Ah now you wouldn't think that the same people behind the music to Maxie's World would be the executive producers on Power Rangers, but that's true. ;) Some nice quality ads that I'm glad were very watchable, including that Smarties ad which was a second version of that ad with more audio such a few added voices, added music cues, sound effects etc. compared to the first one, though without a voice with a vocoder effect at the end there, in favour of a regular sounding voice. Yeah, Carlton could have very well been taking the proverbial at GMTV for airing a Power Rangers episode cantered on cheerleading and GMTV having some themselves, but who knows? Thanks again EVER so much for uploading this clip. I'm sure many should enjoy the nostalgia. :)
It's a strange interview, isn't it? These days, I expect everyone would have been briefed about what was to be asked and what subjects you couldn't talk about, but this is a bit of a free-for-all. I think that Smarties ad was my favourite in this clip, too. Impressive memory about the soundtrack. And thank _you,_ as always! :-)
@@VideotapeFTW Having autism myself I do pick up on these small little things and alterations in stuff like these ads. :D The interview probably needed to feel like it was a free for all and any old question could be asked, but I know from hindsight they were told not to reveal too much when it came to the movie or any questions about continuing the series after Season 1. The question about playground fights felt like something GMTV HAD to ask, after all Mr. Motivator had to tell kids on a regular basis not to copy their fight moves and what Jason 'David' Frank said about enlisting kids to a karate school or class isn't too bad advice really? Though you could tell things went awkward when Anthea didn't mean to sound insulting, but kind of did when she talked about the rangers being 'normal' or 'ab-normal'. That wasn't the intent I'm sure. :D You're welcome. :)
@@David315842 Yes, you can definitely tell that the whole "We're a positive influence really" message was a set-up. It's just like the British media to stomp all over anything new that the kids are watching - they were already trying to get certain videogames banned at the time. I'm still surprised, though, that no-one was prepped with a decent answer for the inevitable question about the new film. Saying anything would have been better than skirting around the issue.
@@VideotapeFTW For video games it was just as bad in America, fortunately they compromised and the ERSB was born as a result, mostly thanks to Mortal Kombat and Night Trap. Fortunately after the first couple of years and Power Rangers became more of a franchise/show that was there but people were aware of it, like the Ninja Turtles, their presence to answer media questions died down quite a bit and GMTV and later CITV didn't bother so much with the whole telling kids not to copy these actors. Fox Kids still continued though until around the time they changed their name to Jetix in 2003/4. They still had to watch what they say, I doubt it, but they could have gotten into trouble with one of Haim Saban (the man responsible for bringing us Power Rangers) or rather with one of his lawyers about fining them for breach of confidentiality in their contract or something? Probably not, but they may have been given a slap on the wrist if they deliberately went into spoiler territory and hey they did their job. As a 10 year old with only access to GMTV, I didn't know much about season 2 till GMTV aired it during the Spring half term of 1995, or slightly earlier if you were lucky enough to have Sky. :)
@@David315842 Oh, I remember the whole Mortal Kombat/Night Trap saga well! The press were absolutely relentless for ages, and _everything_ that went wrong was somehow linked back to games one way or another. It never ceases to amaze me how every time a fair few people start to have fun, someone always tries to put a stop to it. (In a strange way, the worst thing about it was that Night Trap was, by all accounts, a _terrible_ game that no-one would have wanted to play anyway, if not for the controversy.)
